Hey guys, I want to thank you for your support during the Australian Open. It’s nice to see that many of you share my passion for the game. I want to address a few things that I didn’t get a chance to address in the videos to keep them as short as possible. 1. There is a new Roger Federer from Basel. Okay, I’m kidding, but there is an 18-year-old from Basel who wears ON, plays with Wilson, and has a one-handed backhand named Henry Bernet. He just won the AO Junior title. He is ranked 784 in the world, so I’m not going to hype him up too much, but it is exciting to see the one-hander in juniors. 2. The men’s doubles final had barely any spectators. Heliovaara & Patten beat Vavassori & Bolelli. While the scheduling was unfortunate (after the Women’s final), I think that men’s doubles is in a deep crisis. Here is what I think can be done to make it more exciting: ruclips.net/video/LAlAMqg61Mo/видео.htmlsi=vwtP-A7lc5C9fhG4 3. Townsend wins her second grand slam doubles title partnering with Siniakova (the first one was at 2024 Wimbledon). She is super talented and fun to watch. 4. I find it sad that Djokovic had to post an MRI picture of his hamstring tear online. You can dislike Novak, but accusing him of faking injuries is defamatory and needs to stop.
I think a great way to get spectators in to the doubles matches is allow the people who only have ground passes into the arenas when spectators are needed.
@@SC_Jolly I think that's always the case and does happen. But if the match is at midnight, then people either go home or onto the night clubs. They could easily have scheduled the doubles final during the daytime.
1. Yes! 2. Great match, unfortunate scheduling because the women's singles went late. Is there a reason the men's doubles couldn't have been played during the day on Saturday before the women's singles? I don't think the game itself needs changing. I stayed up until 2am Melbourne time watching the match on TV. It was great to see the group of 20-30 Finnish fans still in the crowd for Harri. 3. Yes. Four players on the court with totally different styles. 4. Yup.
It is amazing the progress Sinner has made in the last 15 months. He has turned into a serial winner. Scary to think how many tournaments he can potentially win this year given his dominance over most (if not all) players on the ATP Tour.
Sinner not facing a break point the whole match 🔥 The scrambling point and beating Zverev at the net at 5-6 in the second was fantastic. The air seemed to go out of Zverev after the tiebreaker as there was too slim a chance he was coming back from 2 sets down. Zverev’s forehand got exposed in the end in the exchanges with Sinner and the errors started increasing
Sinner's Return-Quality ist out of this world. It's unbelievable how he can take command immediately after the return against extremely strong servers. He puts his opponents under so much pressure, even mentally, that it's almost impossible to hold serve in the long term. Without the necessary free points on the first serve, it's simply difficult for big Servers like Shelton or Zverev. Look at the low number of points won on Zverev's first serve. The data speaks for itself. In my opinion, one of the most important aspects for Sinner's dominance. His mental strength and his tremendously good footwork and balance do the rest. Of course, it won't be so easy for Sinner on clay and grass. But he is already working on that too. We can only hope that he doesn't make the transition so quickly.
This match reminded me of the Federer era of the grand slams finals in which Federer very cool and calmly would dominate his opponents. Somehow i got that vibe.
What a fantastic analysis. I love your channel. In fact, when the matches end, I eagerly wait for your videos. Thank you for the time and energy you put in each video. I greatly appreciate them.
I'm glad you brought up Zverev's size and reaction time in relation to his court positioning. I'm tired of everyone just assuming that Zverev is mentally weak.
Hear hear. People dont realize Medvedev is the tallest no1 in History. The golden zone of tennis height has been 1.85-1.92 for the past decades. Shorter or taller is a handicap.
See Zverev vs sinner 2021 us open match and this match Zverev has gained muscle due to which his foot speed is reduced. Zverev bad return of first serve is due to his slow speed earlier in 2021 he used to have. He moves way slower and after 1st serve always hoping the ball goes out.
We can’t blame Zverev of his mistakes like for example the forehand errors. He would never make these mistakes with other players. It’s Sinner play that compelled Zverev to make such mistakes, not because he wasn’t in good shape. So other players should take into account the Sinner factor when they plan their strategy playing against Sinner.
Bravo!
Shocked with what I saw from zverev tbh, he took sinner to war the last 2 times they played but today looks so subdued...I'm afraid this being a GS final he was playing against himself too and it was sad to see, it's okay to lose but without fight and belief is even more alarming
The most amazing thing about Jannik is that his speed is unnoticed because of his precision in hitting the ball, unlike Nadal, Alcaraz and Deminaur, who run like rabbits.
You didn't mention the amount of errors on Zverev's forehand. And also his lack of intention tactically. A lot to improve on there. Thanks for a great analysis. Fully agree with you on his past RG performance and chances.
It has to be said that the RG match against Rafa was played in very muggy conditions, with closed roof and rain outside. So really slow heavy conditions. Perfect for Zverev's grinding game. On a hot and dry day like last year it plays more like a hardcourt and he runs into similar issues.
The high pace of Sinners game lead too many of Zverev's forehand errors - they even mostly count es unforced errors but actually it's a result of Sinners pace, angle and pressure. In the press conference Zverev admitted he was completely outplayed by Jannik who played an excellent aggressive match. I think this clear defeat might be a chance to rethink or reassess parts of his game style. He needs to develop new ways to create pressure and make points. For years I think he should partner with a more experienced coach to help him max his potential. He definitely got the bank roll to do that...
Always brilliant on providing tennis matches analysis before and after the match. Beyond the players performance during the match, you often add more context and perspective about the players, their coaches, their past performance, what they improved and how… Maybe one build, Roger was right when he said last year that Zverev needs to shift from a defensive style to an aggressive style if he wants to win a major. John Mcenroe mentioned the same thing after the final. Thanks again for your videos. I’m a big fan of them from Morocco 🇲🇦
You are always on point. I like that you mention the great pistol Pete. Fantastic player, love him so much. His serve and volley may I say, sill the best in the game. A class act. One of the best players in this sport.
Great analysis as always. I totally agree on the open and wide movements of Zverev when hitting the ball that could bring him to loose the timing when the ball goes at higher speed and spin (that happens when he faces Sinner). In general I think that most depends on mind. Zverev has to improve the attitude. Greetings from Italy
Sinner beat the crap out of the ball during whole AO. Beautiful and well deserved title. Well done, Jannik! Great insights why Zverev plays the way he plays, Nikola. I also want to add that his forehand is not on elite level. It must be better for Grand Slam titles. He is missing that crushing forehand when ball is hit early. He does not believe in his forehand for a reason. It is wrong to say it is mental thing when it is technical thing. Sub maximal technique draws mentality down, and opposite. He must work on his forehand, he improved it, but he needs to improve it more. His contact point looks thin. Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, Sinner, Alcaraz all have that safe crushing forehand which finishes the points and creates advantage in rallies. Without that you are toast. Thiem lost that due to wrist injury and was only a shade of his former self. Sinner also had very easy draw. He avoided two players which could beat him, Djokovic and Alcaraz. Novak's injury made a mess in this AO. We missed big final. Novak should have faced Sinner, and I would enjoy so much strong Sinner being beaten by Djokovic. Too bad match was not meant to be. Hopefully soon enough. Hopefully Novak will recover well from injury and keep strong motivation intact. I also hope Sinner wont be banned at all, or at least not for a long time. Tennis needs great player like him. So kind and humble, hardworking young man who achieved big heights. He also looks taller and taller, like he still grows.
Completely agree, except I don't think actual Sinner could have lost against Djokovic. Recent H2H are quite clear. but it would have been another great match to watch for sure
@etra88 Recent H 2 H is irrelevant since Novak was not serious, or in good form whole 2024. Djokovic's results in 2024 are not true measure of his level. It should be dismissed completely. Both Alcaraz and Djokovic are better than Sinner, or at least they have higher high.
@@DeltoidBeast Djokovic was not serious in Davis 2023 and AO 2024 in your opinion? I think you are doing him wrong. BTW, it's just my opinion. Hope we will enjoy lots of other interesting matches by them in the future
@etra88 Djokovic was serious in DC 2023, but was drained physically and mentally completely after insane, unbeatable run for months, and even had 3 match points in a row in that match. In AO 2024 Djokovic was not there in that match against Sinner, he played terrible, not moving at all. He did not enter the year hungry and motivated, like we saw. It has nothing to do with age, only motivation which is refreshed now. I expect Novak to crush both Alcaraz and Sinner in every big event this year and in next year. Matches that matter are the one when both players are close to their maximum. Lets see how this season unfolds. I expect Djokovic to finish the year as # 1.
I was most impressed by Ben Shelton in this tournament. His athleticism is off the charts. He is a solid all court player and REALLY good at the net. He lacks consistency and doesn’t always make the right play on a given point, but he’s highly entertaining to watch.
Always thought he was way over rated , but in this AO I got to agree with you . His game in parts is " still a work in progress" - but it looks a pretty damn good all court game just now
@intuitivetennis Could you one day talk about the speed of play, I.e how early there is contact with the ball? I remember one match at USO where Sinner accelerated his speed of play, hitting the ball earlier on the rise. The American he beat talked about feeling suffocated. Federer 2.0 also used this tactic. In general, Sinner seems to have many gears at his disposal in several dimensions (speed, power, length of ball, angle, variety of shots and serves), and is very good at using the gear with the best “ROI” at any given point, thus conserving his energy. Anyway, thank you for your thoughtful analysis as always.
Mr consistency - many of his big hits looked like they would fly long but dropped in, such was his spin control. I watched his pre-tournament exhibit live in Melbourne and he was practicing his drop shot extensively - it's now part of his repertoire. Pity Novak is injury prone - he would have been a great match-up at his peak.
Freue mich immer auf neue Videos, schade, dass du nicht in Österreich oder Deutschland als Trainer tätig bist, dann würde ich bestimmt mal versuchen, eine Stunde bei dir zu bekommen 🙂
Nick, Your analysis is so right on. Zverev’s needs better techniques on his volleys. I remember seeing an instruction video on RUclips on volleying by Zverev. His technique involves an unnecessary extra step with his feet before he’s ready to hit the volley, I was very surprised that a high level pro like him volleys so inefficiently. It showed in this match.
His brother mischa zverev did 114 volleys against isner to win a match. He has two close persons mischa zverev and marcelo melo he can easily learn but don't think he wants to.
Zverev was also playing way too passively in this match. He barely took any risks. And he was completely broken mentally when he was 0-2 in sets. He's a young guy, he should have given it his all, but he just couldn't. Maybe he fixed his double faults, but the mental struggles are still there for Zverev.
Great video as usual... Commentators should also say that Zverev deals with diabetes... From a Sinner's fan... Sasha will get there. Jannik Sinner is in his own league at the moment 🎉🎉🎉
Yup. Roland Garros is Zverev's best chance. But I do wonder how he managed to produce a beastly performance on occasion also on hard courts. In BO3. The Tokyo Olympics and the Tour Finals wins against Djokovic are a few massive ones that come to mind. Djokovic highly motivated, but Zverev got the better of him. I can't recall how he approached those matches. Whether he played closer to the baseline or did something else differently, and what the keys to those wins were.
Zverev is 2 in the world, incredible level can beat anyone and has in the past. But GS finals are a different beast, that’s where 99.99% of the time the smallest percentages get exposed and only the best of the best win. (ATP side)
I think Djokovic was fatigued / slightly injured in that match. It was Tokyo summer and very humid. Djokovic also pulled out of the mixed doubles due to sholder injury if i remember correctly
@IntuitiveTennis - Nick, just FYI, I think you might be mixing up the various 2025 TFight models, specifically the 300 (100", 300g, 16x19) and 305S (98", 305g, 18x19). It would appear the model you are evaluating is the 300. The model Karue switched to is the 305S (customized). They are certainly two different animals (the 305S being more precise/controlled, but also a bit more demanding). Just wanted to point that out so viewers didn't get misled or confused. Keep up the great work, though!
I was there live Zverev played well especially the second but Sinner what can I say WOW he only got better as the game continued. It wasn’t a great match as too many unforced errors rather than the players hitting winners. Sinner has taken a page out of Nole’s book which is win the points that count I feel sorry for Zverev not sure if he’ll ever win one but let’s see what he does at the French..Sinner was just too good.
Cool you saw it live! I watched on TV and I agree that Zverev actually played pretty good but Sinner played extremely good. Sinner was so aggressive and forced Zverev to a lot of errors with his incredible pace and angles. Making all the big points there was not much left for Zverev and in the end it looked easier for Jannik than it actually was.
@@BenSch100 I got lucky my uncle was meant to take his kids but he got sunburnt and couldn’t take them so they asked for me to take them, I couldn’t say no. And yeah your analysis is pretty spot on Zverev played well I sort of felt sorry for him but being Italian I’m naturally a Sinner fan and yeah it felt like Novak of old where he wins the ones that count. Honestly it’s going to be hard for Zverev to win one GS with the current talent pool. On hard courts Sinner is the new goat he’s incredible.
People seem to forget Zverev is an insulin dependent diabetic from a nursing point of view after nursing many young diabetics I think he’s reached his limits in terms of energy. Last GS final he was competitive as he ages into the 30’s his chance is gone as the other 2 are still so young. Some good players just don’t win slams accept it.
I'm diabetic type 1 as him and I almost cannot believe how good he plays and how he can sustain that playing, energy wise. I honestly don't think he can do any better it would be super human.... Diabetes type 1 is a curse and It affects you so so much in so many things
@@seanl6885affects a lot of neurotransmitters, like for example lack of GABA and increased neuroinflammation, it's Heroic to play he plays being number 2. That's the reality.
That lucky netcord for Sinner at 4-all in second set tie break killed the morale of Zverev from which he never recovered. He began to believe that fate was against him. If it was 1 set all who knows?? Sinner was already touching his hamstring in the beginning of second set. Such a pity.
What this AO tells me about the state of men's tennis is that there're Sinner, Djokovic and Alcaraz as the Big 3 and there's everyone else. There's no comparison and the gap is HUGE.
Great analysis as always! I wanted to ask if you heard Zverev's words during the awards ceremony and what you think of how he defined himself not godd enough, I found this quite depressing for a player who wants to win big. Many greetings from Italy!
He is correctly analyzing the situation and knows what to work on to improve his level. Anything other than this acknowledgment does not set a clear path for the future and is pure delusion. Sinner is simply better rn
Great analysis. From the first game I told my son that Zverev had no chance to win standing so far from the baseline and just getting into rallies he can't win consistently. Frankly I don't like his matches, there's not much excitement to see. Rune has better weapons but lacks any game intelligence. You can see that if he puts his mind to building up a point, he can manage a good few games. But usually he loses it all by blasting nonsensical shots eventually. Medvedev has been figured out and can't seem to learn new tricks. Let's see if Fonseca can deliver on tour and build up stamina to last a Slam. Well done Sinner, that's peak tennis.
3:31 that was a very cruel point for Zverev, to his credit he was much better in the second set only for that to happen. Sinner was clutch to wrap up the tie break and also at set point Sinner's shot barely touched the line. Just goes to show what fine margins can decide matches in Tennis. It was a difference between one set all and two sets to love advantage.
I was a bit surprised by Zverev’s game plan and him not changing gears. He should have come out guns blazing and take a lot more risk in his return games.
Seemed like he didn't have the timing. And as Nick explained, his body and technique kinda prevents him from playing that way. He is not really comfortable hitting balls on the rise.
Zverev seemed passive maybe he was indeed not feeling well on the day. Expected a battle possibly even going to five sets but Zverev did not attack much at all. He was willing to just play defensively against the best baseline player in the world. That’s not ever going to win him a Grand Slam unless Alcaraz & Sinner are both injured.
Sinner’s mastery on hard courts will continue, and he’s heavy favourite to get the sunshine double this year…it’s not until the clay swing that we’ll get to see a more even playing field
sinner question: Why does he hit so hard? other players are bigger than him. Is it because he hits the ball so clean that it creates max power all the time? or any other technique (swing) he does better?
It's more about leverage. Long arms = high racquet speed. He also has a lot of wrist action, so the racquet is really travelling at the point of contact. Also, he gets his weight moving forward a lot.
@@mattb2704Also what is most impressive is that he can hit hard with margin. Many other players can reach the same power or more, but with more unforced errors
Spot on, zverev on court movement, not agile; between points, the move showed some negativity. Indeed the first set of FO22 semi is in a different level (the intensity and energy), I thought Nadal would lose if game continued like that
Sinner’s sliding backhand defensive attacking made his game flawless, zverev can only rely on serve. 3 straight sets loss, given he served superb in general
Eventually, the men's AO were a little disappointing. We saw two youngsters rising, Fonseca and Tien, but both were stopped by Sonego, who has great ability but has never been able to maintain his peak level. This time was no different: he couldn't withstand the Shelton serve. Shelton on his turn was unable to take advantage of Sinner's limping. In the other half of the draw, we had one really top notch match, where Djokovic held his promise of coming back strong in 2025 under Murray's coaching, defeating his "rival" of late, Alcaraz. Unfortunately Djokovic retired against Zverev, who went into the final as the fittest player, not the best of his draw. Sinner then rather clinically dismissed Zverev and took the title. I adore Sinner's attitude on and off court, he's my favorite player right now, but his game is not as inspirational as my previous idol, Roger Federer. That type of game we see more with Alcaraz, who remains my favorite for clinching most GS's of the next gen, despite Sinner's current form. I hope we see more finals between those two, because those are the ones capable of being reminiscent of the big 3 type of matches. In the meantime, I expect Fonseca to make deeper runs and join those two eventually. I'm still wary of injuries with both Sinner and Alcaraz. Their game is taxing their bodies. Zverev could take advantage of those gaps, as he seems physically more robust than the others (we seem to disagree there). But his mentality is problematic. When things go against him, like the net roller in set 2, he tends to tank. I see the same thing with Shelton btw. That guy has the weaponry but not the mental strength. I won't call this the weak era just yet, but with all the physical and mental weakness around, I do expect a variety in GS winners, where dark horses can emerge victorious.
The only disappointment for me was Zverev getting a walk over to the finals. Zverev’s confidence and gameplay may have been higher in the final if he had actually won against Djokovic without the retirement. Carlos was humbled, and he needed to be. He wants to have fun on court, but to win, you need to lock down completely. Killer edge. Down to business. He also can’t underestimate opponents and overestimate himself. Sinner might take the lead in the big titles race vs Carlos very soon
I think Sinner won't sustain this level, because he will be injured, no one is talking about this but the body type that Sinner has it's injury-prone, unlike Djokovic...
@@m.a.g.3920 fully agree, the way he's walking after each point reminds me of Delpo. Could be he's simply managing his energy level but Delpo has had a bad case of injuries and I expect Sinner to go the same way as he ages. Unfortunately.
@@knotwilg3596 in my opinion, the Magic massages are not only to "enhance" his tennis, perhaps It wasn't even the main point (being optimistic..) but probably it's because he has muscular and joints issues that he has being showing since the beginning... In fact both topical testosterone and Clostebol are used to mask and delay muscular issues....
Best zverev was at the french open where he got so badly injured ? Why not his wins against Djokovic in the Olympics or ATP finals? Or last years AO against Alcaraz?
People have short memories. Marcelo Ríos was a world number one and never won a Grand Slam. Many great players don't win the things that they arguably meant to
Zverev needs to work on closing in on the ball more and closing in on the angles and coming to the net more and not relying so much over powering from the base line. Also needs to work on wide running backhands. I understand it's because of his size and swing style. Maybe he needs a different style shoe or a more maneuverable racket etc to help. But everytime I watch him play it's always what I see. His size he can't change but he can work on shortening his stokes and moving forward into the ball more because I think it's a mental thing that he has conditioned his attitude on the court to stay deep and over power instead of closing in. His an amazing player and not saying I know better. But I feel if he focussed on these areas he can become more versatile and could beat sinner at his best.
Love your analysis, best in the business by far. However... in this instance you missed the most important word: defensive. Just like Murray, Zverev is too defensive for the modern tennis of the 2020s. He needs to take more chances. Too lethargic.
The biggest difference between these both is, that Sinner is much more confident of his hits, he goes much more for the lines and defends much more better the baseline. And that is the probllem, Zverev falls still too much back behind the line. And he comes more from safety, for most player, it is enough, but not for kind of aggressive ones like Sinner or sometimes Alcaraz. Zverevs game is still too calculatable, and he goes too less for a kill-shot...Besides, I guess, that Nole with the form against alcaraz from the quarterfinal, could have beaten Sinner, he and Alcaraz in top-form, are the only ones, who can beat Sinner on hartcourt...
Zverev's forehand was terrible this match. Just about every time the ball was going to Zverev's forehand he would make a mistake on that side plus two forehand misses in the tiebreak which cost him.
Zverev's forehand was painful to watch, lacking depth and consistency. Without the compact strokes like Federer or Agassi, Sinner could easily rush Zverev.
zverev can win against sinner on clay and against Alcaraz he already played 5 sets in FO final. so yes the only slam he can win if sinner or djokovic plays are the french open
zeverev definitely has a better serve and backhand than sinner. He has always matched up better against alcaraz but against sinner on a fast hard court he needs to be more aggressive or ensure he wins points at the net
Unfortunately, there is no longer a three-way rivalry. Only Djokovic could beat Sinner. But unfortunately he is slowly getting too "old". No more Federer or Nadal. Men's tennis is getting boring. Thanks for the great analysis and have a good time.
"It is not about the size of the dog in the fight, but it is about the size of the fight in the dog" - The problem of Zverev lies in the proverb. He is lack of intensity, fighting spirit, desire of revenge, fire of winning. Look at Thiem and see how intensity he brings to the court. How big is Thiem physically? Although Thiem's career is over, he did manage to achieve to win a slam. Why? Because Thiem is a die hard fighter. He fought and fought. He brought intensity and delivered it into every single shots (forehand, backhand, serve). When a player is not able to compete by skills, then the fighting spirit must be utilised to compensate. It is the one and only possible solution for Zverev, but very unfortunately fighting spirit is something in blood and it is impossible to change or improve. Skills can be improved in time, but fighting spirit is what it naturally is.
If Delpo ,Cilic,Wawrinka could have been closer to the baseline,Zverev can too. I agree though,Zverev needs more time,he reminds me on Wawrinka,he also needs more time for preparation. Thatswhy Wawrinka never played his best on grass. Yeah,Zverev played his best tennis against Rafa in that semis Rg,but even there he showed how bad decisions he makes in a crucial moments. On two set points he had an easy forehand, both of these he played in Nadal's running forehand ,which Nadal executed of course and punished Zverev.
Sinner was simply too good. Zverev admitted it himself. I like Zverev but the way things are now he might be one of those guys who have the quality but never end up winning a GS title. My predictions for this year's GS a monthago were: AO Sinner RG Alcaraz or Nole W Sinner US Sinner I am sticking to that😊.
Thanks for the effort, but I respectfully would suggest to avoid describing the sets point to point with scores, no need to do it because we can see while watching the match. Perhaps other tips would help more and make your contribution more relevant to the audience. You are very talented so i hope my feedback helps you too. Thank you!
i feel that sinner has the playstyle of novak, but the post interview style of roger. always avoid any drama, and stay away from talking about negatively about the aussie crowd. while i do like sinner more than carlos, i feel like him not acknowledging the Goat annoys me. i wont be surprise if he starts losing RG and Wimbledon.
Based on my observations and listening to his interviews these past years, Sinner doesn't like drama at all. He does whetever he can to avoid it. He once said he only feels well on court, or among his closest family and friends. After all, drama has been literally bombarding him these last 6 months, imagine he starts meddling in other players controversies now, when he's never done so before. He's called Novak the best player in the world many times, so saying he doesn't aknowledge him is quite far-fetched, unless you'e referring only to the last aussie crowd and the stupid, rude commentator thing, in which case my previous comment stands strong. Whether he can win RG and/or Wimbledon I have no idea. It depends on a myriad of factors, not last his opponents' game, certainly not on whether he aknowledges the goat or not.
Alexander Zverev always waiting for the incoming without movement forwards . He is keeping the ball in play , Sinner is trying to get the time away from his oponent.
Well this is something I have been talking about for some time. Zverev's poor returning. It is a problem at the top of men's tennis right now. The big test for Sinner is two fold. The first is to avoid a drugs ban! If he negotiates that successfully then winning either the French Open or Wimbledon, or maybe both. He has the pedigree to do it, now he can try to make it happen.
you should forward that analysis to Zverev team. i guess they struggled with exactly this problem during his final. they could not get closer to the baseline cause the unforced errors get too big and if he retreats he gets blown off the court. Zverev is limited not only in that matter, but also not having a creative game. He solely relies on beating his opponents with huge serve/forehand/backhand strokes. if you manage to disturb his play he even questions himself and plays worse. Sinner knew all that and could have a very clear game plan he could always stick to when in trouble. Zverev did not have any clue on how to beat sinner, he relied on Sinner playing worse, but that did not happen
@@Khaavrenbbb just play more aggressive. to me Zverev did not believe in himself at any moment. Champions ALWAYS believe in themselves. if you play like this you lose 99% of all matches against sinner, if he plays more aggressive he might still lose 80% but might win some of those matches.
Incorrect . The best Zverev has ever played was the ATP finals 2017 when he beat Federer and Novak to take the title under the guidance of Lendl . He should never have lost Lendl as his coach . He would have multiple slams if so . Unfortunately his game has multiple weaknesses especially under pressure 1. Serve 2. Volley 3. Forehand 4. Too defensive . 5. Mental weakness . You can maybe get away with one at that level but no way five. Lendl manages to guise those weaknesses as he did with Murray .
i realized Zverez was crushed after losing but his post match "woe is me" says alot about how mentally fragile he is and his lack of self- belief..it was sad to hear...same goes with Saba..though keys played better i believe that anger display goes all the way back to her horrible(choke) against CoCo in the US open..She probably hoped she got over that pitiful play mentally but i believe theres still alot of bad memories there that haunts her...anyway Happy for Keys--she beat so many top players..Nik...can u do an analysis on Igas game..as good as she is theres still many holes in her game that she and her coaches are not addressing to her detriment
Gassed Medvedev with 22 hours+ spend on court won 2 sets and was 2 pts away from winning vs Sinner without a working serve Alexander Zverev with half the time spend on court, a retirement in the semis and a piss poor draw couldnt even produce a BP 😂 Boring final 👎
Zverev‘s hight surely plays a role, there’s no doubt. But besides that, I think he’s also mentally weak. I’ve seen him so many times now playing passive when it was time to be aggressive. It’s not that he can’t do it. I’ve seen him rip his forehand before. But no matter what’s the reason for it, he will never win a slam playing far behind the baseline. He has to change that - and if he can’t, for whatever reason that may be - he won’t succeed.
Nick i see it pretty simple, Zverev just doesn't have a good enough Forhand to win a GS, yes he has e tremendous serve and Backhand but the rest is quite questionable for a #2 in the world. The key point in my opinion were at 5-4 0-30 in the 2nd set, he played super passive, then at 2-1 in the 2nd Set Tie Break 2 easy Forhand mistake and ofc that "Netz Roller" at 4-4 was the end of it... Zverev net game isn't solid enough and he lacks a lot of Touch, he can't do a single drop shot properly that Sinner gets too late on the ball for once!! Zverev enden up with 25 UF FH mistakes vs 13 from Sinner, that's simply 6 full Tennis games...way too much for this level..
I actually think Sinner is more Djokovic, executes great at the biggest moments and cold as ice in the veins just like Novak he’s going to dominate he and Alcatraz but the latter is more fun to watch.
Mostly agree with your summary. I think the most important was really the lack of believe by Zverev. Like so many times he almost won a point and then didn't commit in the end, giving it away. He also played these weird forehands short to the middle, so Sinner could just have a shot at it. I still think Sinners backhand is not his best shot and really the one thing to target. But yeah, I think a guy like Machac or Fonseca are the ones who have the best shot at beating Sinner, Machac played weirdly bad against Djokovic though, maybe he was injured....expected more from him....
I don't know about zverev's body language... I mean, you go play against 🥕and let's see what your body language is when you realize there's nothing you can do cause you play against a machine
The 2022 French Open match vs Rafa - the Roof was closed and humidity was high neutralizing Rafa's strengths. He lost a previous French open match in those conditions.
Here is what I think can be done to make it more exciting: ruclips.net/video/LAlAMqg61Mo/видео.htmlsi=vwtP-A7lc5C9fhG4
I have a few athletes on the high school boys team I coach who want to hit one handed BH. It's making a comeback! 😀
I think the Australian Open are trying to kill doubles on purpose by putting the final on at midnight. That is lack of respect of the highest order.
4. Yup.
To be honest, your post match analysis is way better than of entire group of experts from Eurosport

It is amazing the progress Sinner has made in the last 15 months. He has turned into a serial winner. Scary to think how many tournaments he can potentially win this year given his dominance over most (if not all) players on the ATP Tour.
Serial killer Sinner
Yet to solve Alcaraz .

Sinner not facing a break point the whole match 🔥
The scrambling point and beating Zverev at the net at 5-6 in the second was fantastic.
True, I got Sampras vibes
What a fantastic analysis. I love your channel. In fact, when the matches end, I eagerly wait for your videos. Thank you for the time and energy you put in each video. I greatly appreciate them.
Glad to hear that, thank you
I'm glad you brought up Zverev's size and reaction time in relation to his court positioning.
Love your analysis keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
@BenSch100 we don't know how much he paid Olga Sharypowa and Brenda Patea though...
thanks for always great videos, straight to the point, no bloat, no nonsense, just good content

Always brilliant on providing tennis matches analysis before and after the match. Beyond the players performance during the match, you often add more context and perspective about the players, their coaches, their past performance, what they improved and how…
Maybe one build, Roger was right when he said last year that Zverev needs to shift from a defensive style to an aggressive style if he wants to win a major. John Mcenroe mentioned the same thing after the final.
Thanks again for your videos. I’m a big fan of them from Morocco 🇲🇦

Still Sacha can take heart from the fact that Lendl managed to win 8 slams after losing his first four slam finals.
You are always on point. I like that you mention the great pistol Pete. Fantastic player, love him so much. His serve and volley may I say, sill the best in the game. A class act. One of the best players in this sport.
💯
Tennis is a mental game first at all to me. Sinner is simple the best in this now. The other players are far away from him.
Great analysis as always. I totally agree on the open and wide movements of Zverev when hitting the ball that could bring him to loose the timing when the ball goes at higher speed and spin (that happens when he faces Sinner).
In general I think that most depends on mind. Zverev has to improve the attitude.

His game in parts is " still a work in progress" - but it looks a pretty damn good all court game just now
Great Analysis as alway
🙏
Great Analysis
Thank you

Mr consistency - many of his big hits looked like they would fly long but dropped in, such was his spin control. I watched his pre-tournament exhibit live in Melbourne and he was practicing his drop shot extensively - it's now part of his repertoire. Pity Novak is injury prone - he would have been a great match-up at his peak.
Honestly, I enjoyed your analysis more than Andy's (although I have a lot of respect for him). Thanks for your awesome coverage during this AO.
Andy was just shocked by Sinner's "clinical" performance... How many times he compared Sinner to a robot?? Yes, great analysis here on this channel.

Great analysis. Agree that Zverev stay 1 m behind baseline maybe is less critical on clay against Sinner but not sure against Alcaraz.
Scariest thing with Sinner is the speed of improvement, every year is a huge step up.
💯
@IntuitiveTennis - Nick, just FYI, I think you might be mixing up the various 2025 TFight models, specifically the 300 (100", 300g, 16x19) and 305S (98", 305g, 18x19). It would appear the model you are evaluating is the 300. The model Karue switched to is the 305S (customized). They are certainly two different animals (the 305S being more precise/controlled, but also a bit more demanding). Just wanted to point that out so viewers didn't get misled or confused. Keep up the great work, though!
I was wrong thought he switched to the 300 🙏
I was there live Zverev played well especially the second but Sinner what can I say WOW he only got better as the game continued.
Good point. The insulin affects the adrenaline level in the body, and more importantly the mind.
I'm diabetic type 1 as him and I almost cannot believe how good he plays and how he can sustain that playing, energy wise. I honestly don't think he can do any better it would be super human....

You know when zverev don't get a single break point, it's over :( Really felt for him
Great analysis.
Zverev had a bad day and gave up. Too much analytics is just too much analytics :)
Championship day is a bad day; ask Zverev :)
@@seanl6885 right. that happens.
160kmh forehand winner!
Sinner’s mastery on hard courts will continue, and he’s heavy favourite to get the sunshine double this year…it’s not until the clay swing that we’ll get to see a more even playing field
Nah, nobody beats Alcaraz at the slow and bouncy courts at Indian Wells
sinner question: Why does he hit so hard? other players are bigger than him.
He is very loose and whipping in his action. Perfect kinetic chain.
His motion is very loose-limbed with slingshot effect, and perfectly timed. Interestingly he plays with really high string tension.
Racket head speed is high
Good advice. In addition, Zverev should ask del Potro to be his coach.
Love your analysis, best in the business by far. However... in this instance you missed the most important word: defensive. Just like Murray, Zverev is too defensive for the modern tennis of the 2020s. He needs to take more chances. Too lethargic.
Yep. With poly strings and racquet technology, it's easier nowadays to blow someone off the court.
You mentioned Zverev is slow to hit forehands, is that because of his big takeback?
He is not slow, just a tad slower in his movements compared to Sinner & Alcaraz
But is it because of his big takeback?
Unfortunately, there is no longer a three-way rivalry. Only Djokovic could beat Sinner. But unfortunately he is slowly getting too "old". No more Federer or Nadal. Men's tennis is getting boring. Thanks for the great analysis and have a good time.
What I.have seen is Holger Rune played the best again Sinner.
Zverev must focus on his strong point, if other player is faster then he must bulk up a bit to increase his power
Final should have been Novak vs Sinner. Unfortunately Novak was generous for his friend Zverev to win.
Novak gifted his friend energy but not confidence.
My predictions for this year's GS a monthago were:
AO Sinner
RG Alcaraz or Nole
W Sinner
US Sinner
I am sticking to that😊.
Sinner proved he's still good without the alleged drug yesterday.
you should forward that analysis to Zverev team. i guess they struggled with exactly this problem during his final. they could not get closer to the baseline cause the unforced errors get too big and if he retreats he gets blown off the court.
Nothing they don’t know. But suggestions for solutions would be helpful.
@@Khaavrenbbb just play more aggressive. to me Zverev did not believe in himself at any moment. Champions ALWAYS believe in themselves. if you play like this you lose 99% of all matches against sinner, if he plays more aggressive he might still lose 80% but might win some of those matches.
Sinner makes much better drop shots nowadays, particularly effective against Zverev so far behind the baseline. It doesn't take much to rattle Zverev.
Zverev made so many errors, Sinner was not even at his top level.
Dont cut the video. It is just weird.
Maybe zverev will be able to win a slam on clay, which gives the players more time to execute the shots...
Zverev should really look for a new coach...like Rafa moved on from Toni Nadal
i realized Zverez was crushed after losing but his post match "woe is me" says alot about how mentally fragile he is and his lack of self- belief..it was sad to hear...same goes with Saba..though keys played better i believe that anger display goes all the way back to her horrible(choke) against CoCo in the US open..She probably hoped she got over that pitiful play mentally but i believe theres still alot of bad memories there that haunts her...anyway Happy for Keys--she beat so many top players..Nik...can u do an analysis on Igas game..as good as she is theres still many holes in her game that she and her coaches are not addressing to her detriment
I will talk Iga 🙌🙌
Gassed Medvedev with 22 hours+ spend on court won 2 sets and was 2 pts away from winning vs Sinner without a working serve
Alexander Zverev with half the time spend on court, a retirement in the semis and a piss poor draw couldnt even produce a BP 😂
Boring final 👎
Boring final was when nadal used to play federer in roland garros. That was certainly a better final than those eras
I did not watch the match because I knew Sinner was going to beat Zverev easly in 3 sets and I was right...
Zverev enden up with 25 UF FH mistakes vs 13 from Sinner, that's simply 6 full Tennis games...way too much for this level..
zverev is murry. sinner is Federer. alacarz is Nadal.
And above them all stands Novak, the incomparable GOAT. LoL 😂😂
I actually think Sinner is more Djokovic, executes great at the biggest moments and cold as ice in the veins just like Novak he’s going to dominate he and Alcatraz but the latter is more fun to watch.
@@carolinegardner8214 He will be banned very soon in April.
Zverev need to a new coach to replace his father
It's time for a change.
Federer 2.0 is the biggest story of AO '25: ruclips.net/video/7V5fYiSGYD0/видео.html
Sasha toked too much Kamala leading up to the match
I don't know about zverev's body language... I mean, you go play against 🥕and let's see what your body language is when you realize there's nothing you can do cause you play against a machine
The 2022 French Open match vs Rafa - the Roof was closed and humidity was high neutralizing Rafa's strengths. He lost a previous French open match in those conditions.
Zverev forehand is barely top 100
