  • One of the RUclips viewers made a comment a few weeks ago asking about my rotator project. Their comment inspired me to finish it.
This project is a 3D Printed Satellite antenna rotator. Specifically made for Ham radio and the common Arrow antenna (made from arrow shafts). I opted to make it bluetooth. Total game changer!
The first version of code running on the Arduino will work with some of the Yaesu GS-232A rotator commands. This means it should work with popular sat tracking programs.
Working really well. I have a few more modifications in the works and I want to get some contacts done using the new setup. Once done, and it looks good, I will upload the stl files to Thingiverse and do an assembly video.
    Enjoy, and thanks for watching!

So this is the reason I am going to go ahead and buy a 3D printer. Thanks for pushing me to spend some money. LOL. This is probably the rotator project I've been looking for. Thanks for posting this. BTW. I know its been a couple of years since you've started this project but what type of printer did you print these parts from?

Jeffrey, thanks for posting the STL files. I`m currently working on replicating your project. I am stuck right now on the sketch to make it work. Can you please update the wiring diagrams and sketches for the Bluetooth interface? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What are the physical dimensions of the ball bearings on the elevation axis? As well, what size of balls are used on the azmuth? What bearings are used on the worm gear?
    Are those nema 17 motors?

Nice work! I have downloaded the files for printing the parts, did you make the arduinocode and do you watt to share a coppy?

I do have sketch i can get you. Please find my email. I will send you a copy. ....as long as you don't mind that it is messy code. I didn't write it for public use, therefore, not pretty.

@@JeffreyByrns I saw you posted the design files. Thanks! I gave up on my design last night and decided to give yours a shot. Did you 3D Print the big bearings? Which bearing did you use on the tracking arm?

@@cttechcorp I did print them, but did not design it. So, I didn't think it was fair to post that file. If you can find my email, email me and I will send you the STL file I used.
