  • Suzanne Lee of BioCouture explains how she makes clothes that are "grown using bacteria" in this movie filmed at the Wearable Futures conference in London in December.
"There's a whole spectrum of organisms that can grow material," says Lee, who founded BioCouture to explore how organisms like bacteria, yeast, fungi and algae could be harnessed to produce fabrics.

Do you wash a leather jacket? Or your leather shoes? And it can be made to feel and look like leather. And be weatherproof. I think it is quite an amazing concept.

Amazing, as model turned fitness professional moving towards the cardiovascular medical industry, although interrupted Covid and the loss 2 immediate family members in the past 2 years,I’ve been seeking something new, to make me want continue living when life cycles are so fragile. Makoto Azuma and floral installations which encompasses the wintering phases a life cycle and the beauty therein. I’ve taken a sabbatical and would love to be apart of this life cycle

PiccoloMichela It has a leather like texture and you dont need to put leather items in the washing machine. Wipe and done.

Good point. I think this stuff is more akin to paper than leather. Could be a good material for decorative purposes, like vases, japanese type doors... I think there's something about this stuff, but clothing is a bit silly. I think
