This is one of the best live performances I have ever heard where you can tell every instrument playing not idiots trying to play louder than everyone else everyone knew exactly how to modulate each instrument.. It is not playing louder it is feeling the music people😊😊😅
I researched this song and it was composed by an African-American composer named Gerald Wilson. Mr. Wilson was originally from back East but moved to the Los Angeles area back in the day where he met and married a Mexican woman. She used to take him to the bullfights in Tijuana and apparently Mr. Wilson developed a liking/admiration for a bullfighter by the name of Jose Ramon Tirado. He composed the song in his honor. I personally can't see composing a song in honor of a bullfighter because I'm an animal rights advocate, but I have to admit that this song is phenomenal and the rendition by El Chicano is just fabulous - bullfighting aside. They knew what they were doing, for sure!
This kind of CREATIVE, REAL music lets you mesmerize, relax, refresh and enjoy with mind and soul. Just don't know what happened to music after the turn of the century. BIG loss for the future generations.
I have also etc the original olds LP of Latin Rock of El Chicano, Azteca, Malo, Seguida, etc buyed in the end of 70 years/ first 80 and all the CD of Fania All Stars and other latins groups type New York Barrio's music etc
This is one of of the best live performances I have ever heard everyone keeping their volume where it should be nobody overpowering anyone beautiful😊😊😊? it's not how much louder better you can play than anyone it's how you're feeling the music and modulating accordingly😊😊😊
Dedicating this song to the life and memory of Mr. George Fernandez Sr. from Lincoln Heights, CA 🕊👼🏾🙏🏽💐🎤🎸🎹🪘🎵 Rest in heaven George Fernandez Rudy Salas of Tierra Bobby Espinosa of El Chicano It has been a pleasure to know and work with you all. Keep the party going 🎶 para adelante VIVA TIRADO ✊🏽
You had to be their to really appreciate the chicano culture. I seen them live with the orignal band in 1972 in the chicago theator Viva Our California Chicano Brothers
Saw them many times while I lived up Seattle. They were always part of a radio package for shows they called a six pack...Santana, El Chicano, Tower of Power, sometimes War, and then some local groups mixed in. They were pretty good shows.
Acapulco Gold, The Black on White Affair and Cold, Bold and Together and Pleasure from Portland (to name just a few) were locals that included Melvin Guidry and Kenny Gorelick blowing funky 1st Tenor solos with many other accomplished musicians circa early seventies
I remember bumping El Chicano revolución 8track on the 69. I rigged an amp to the speaker wires from the 8track with a switch for the subwoofers. Good times
Very good job. this song is very close to the original song to they did good. And the END of the don't was BOSS never seen that before that group is good. Nice jazz to.
One of the all-time greats. Saw El Chicano play out many times during the '70s. Still going strong here. Let's remember the great Gerald Wilson, another L.A. resident. He wrote the tune. ruclips.net/video/sJXdX1bK-a8/видео.html I identify with Chicanismo because all us non-Whites grew up with each other under residential segregation. Now we are all under lock-down together as mandated by El Corporation.
Kan't get this song out of my mind, "El Chicano" dang! you come back more alive than ever ........ the sounds from all instruments are blasting every part of my body to move & dance, THANK YOU! I replay & replay, is it on iTunes?

SEE FOR YOURSELF IF YOU RE REALLT AZTECA OR JUST ANOTHER LOST SOUL IN THIS UNIVERSE! THAT MY FRIENDS IS A GREAT TRAGEDY AND A WASTE OF LIFE!
I think the keyboard player Bobby Espinosa was the only original member left at this time and he has since passed. Don't see Mickey Lespron, and I know him. Worked with him at LA Metro. Great Guy, And Great Guitarist! Without Bobby and Mickey this band is done except for cover bands.
I am trying to locate their road manager from 1972-1976,can you be of help? I knew Mickey, Bobby, Jerry Salas (vocals "Tell Her She's Lovely), Andre (congas)
