Can't thank you enough. You helped me get into your alma mater and I'm excited to be joining the school of public health at UC Berkely as a graduate student this upcoming fall. Everything from SOP's to connecting with specific personnel within the school itself, your content is amazing! Would love to ask you a few more questions specifically on tuition remissions strategies if you ever end up seeing this..
Congrats! Berkeley being an underfunded public school is tough. Becoming a graduate student instructor or graduate student researcher is really the best way to get tuition remission at Berkeley. You can check out this video which has more detail on finding those positions. ruclips.net/video/9yI8ImRLPPc/видео.html. Also part of my mission is to provide as many free resources as possible for those who can't afford private sessions. Would you be willing to share your essay on my youtube channel anonymously? If so, please email me at lauren@laurenvaldez.com
I have been following you for a couple of months now and your tips have been very helpful. I got into UC Berkeley MSW program, early admission. Thank you so much for this video, it will help me negotiate grad school funding once I receive an offer.
Thank you Lauren for your videos. I used one of your videos to write my statement of purpose. Now I have admission. I am currently looking for funding through scholarship, fellowships and teaching assistantship. Thank you for this video. Lots of love.
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll one back here in some few months to thank you again. I’ve received 30% Award grant to a grad school program and I’ll start a negotiation campaign. You video is just precise and well guided 🙏🏾
Vote on what videos I should create: A) How to find a PhD Advisor B) More tips on funding grad school C) Fulbright application tips D) Other...let me konw
Thanks for this great video. I have been offered admission but the funding decisions will come in May even though I have to accept the offer in April. Can I negotiate my funding before accepting the offer to influence the amount of funding I will get ?
Hey Lauren, can we ask all three in one email (tuition reduction, TA/RA opportunities, other fellowships/scholarships that I could qualify for)? Or do we have to choose one one of the above to ask? Also are these tips only applicable to students who have received some kind of funding already from the school? Or is this also helpful to students who have not received anything at all from the school and are starting the conversation with them? Thank you for your tips!
Is it appropriate to ask for visa and ticket fee from your school after you have been admitted . Especially when you read do not have the flight and visa fee
Hey Lauren, I wonder would this help for those who are waiting for funding in a PhD program? If you're waitlisted for funding, what should I ask and could do?
Hi Sam, if you are waitlisted for funding, I assume that the professor who is advising you wants you in the program, but likely they are waiting to hear back on grant funding for their research. A lot of PhD funding comes from when professors have research grants. I'm not sure there is anything you can do to move the needle there other than pray. There are personal scholarships you can apply to like the NSF graduate research fellowship. Although it may be too late to apply for that for this upcoming school year.
@@LaurenValdez thank you for the reply. Recently found your channel and it has been helpful. So far I have been praying like crazy for that email on funding. I will keep the NSF graduate fellowship in mind, as if I don't hear from them very soon I will have to re apply for Fall 2023. This is my first time applying for PhD programs and I only go into one school out of 8 (the school was in my top 3). I have my masters degree and know that I want to continue my education.

Are you still able to negotiate offer, after you accepted the admission but did not pay the enrollment fee?

Hi there! Can you negotiate tuition once you have already said yes?

Thank you for your tips!
You can ask for all of those things and you can definitely ask if you haven't gotten any funding.
@@LaurenValdez great, thank you!

Is it appropriate to ask for more stipends as a newly admitted phd student ?
Hi lauren, i got accepted into two programs. How should I ask for more funding for one of them? Is it best to email or call?
Do you have any appeal letter templates?
Do you mean appealing a rejection or a letter for asking for more funding?
thank you for response! asking for more funding!
