Chicken salt was invented to flavour chickens during roasting, it is salt with seasonings; we now get the option of having either ordinary salt or chicken salt on our chips(french fries in US), once you have chicken salt on your chips you don't go back.

The best chicken salt is Mitani chicken salt. It's the original and is still made in South Australia.

Invented by Peter Brinkworth who later sold his recipe to the Mitani family in Adelaide. Short Doco here of its origins. ruclips.net/video/-7zbpd3Qm-g/видео.html

But there is a difference between chicken salt and chippy salt but are called the same thing though chippy salt is actually labelled in shelves as chippy salt in a white shaker container which is the original used in fish n Chip shops going back 30 odd yrs ago when I worked in 1.

@@onigvd77 French fries as American know them aren't Frenchy, they are Belgian. The French took the thinner Belgian cut and cooked them in either duck or goose fat so they aren't French fries unless cooked that way. So Americans eat Belgian fries.

In Australia, it's not a burger unless it has beetroot on it; whether it's a hamburger, chicken or fish burger. Beetroot(beets in US) is a pickled vegetable.

You definitely know something's good when the locals congratulate you on your choice. I live in The Atherton Tablelands, Far North Queensland, which is up a mountain range behind Cairns. Recently I visited Cairns for a few days. I stayed at a motel and because I can't drive, mainly travelled around in Taxis. I decided to have some Charcoal Chicken for dinner one evening. So I Googled it and found the adress for Babba's which is a business run by an older Bosnian lady. My taxi driver congratulated me on my choice and said he'd eaten some a couple of days before. I pity the employees, I had to go outside to wait. They slow cook the chicken over a huge charcoal barbecue pit for two hours. Unfortunately, it makes for a very hot work environment. You could see the juice pouring out when they cut the chicken. It was delicious and when I opened the gravy you could tell it was hand made. Of course in true Aussie style I dunked my chips in it. I also had some other vegetables with my dinner. When I was about to leave another customer also turned up in a taxi. If you're ever in Cairns, I highly recommend Babba's.

Love the Atherton Tablelands. I went to Paronella Park and even though it was only a few weeks after a cyclone and much was destroyed it was still beautiful. I'd live there in a heartbeat except for the humidity.

Cheap meal for Americans.Sydney is right on the South Pacific Ocean with fresh fish everyday coming into the Sydney Fish Markets Check out the same guys having a steak at Bondi you go into the butcher pick your steak and they cook it for you about 20 mins away from this place

Those burgers have lettuce, tomatoes, grated carrots and beetroot with the chicken or fish fillets. It looks delicious. A piece of fish in my local fish and chips shop is about $7.50 aud. Australia has incredibly good food overall. We produce the best quality of meat and vegetables and we keep it fresh in restaurants. We have very high standards for all our food shops so it’s rare to get anything that isn’t top notch. I have friends visit me from America and they are so in love with our food.

People don't understand foreign currency, especially if indexed to average wages and/or the cost of living.
I'd recommend using the big mac index.
Our fish is approximately the price of a big mac. Rare fish, maybe $1 more.
At lunchtime, there's usually some sort of combo deal where you can get some chips and a drink at a similar price point to a maccas' value meal.

Chicken Salt is a combination of a number of spices. It isn't chicken flavoured salt. Some guy in rural South Australia created it.
When it comes to fish, Australia's fish is top quality. There are plenty of fish & chip shops that are excellent at what they do, there are also some real duds.
I am sure someone will send you some chicken salt for you to try. A lot of us Aussies only use chicken salt.

    • @aussiemiss1442
      @aussiemiss1442 9 месяцев назад +2

Yes it was someone in Gawler. He says he put it together in batches because he was basically looking for a easy way of using spices for each batch of chicken. Instead of opening lots of containers every day he made up batches.
This was before kfc came to Australia.
He is now retired, still loves to cook, still cutting corners to make it easier.

“Blue Grenadier (also known as Hoki) are a bentho-pelagic predatory finfish found throughout Australian, New Zealand and wider southwestern Pacific Ocean waters. They usually live on or near the bottom in depths from 400-1000m, but may occasionally move up into mid-waters.”
