For some reason, when I first watched this video and scrolled down to read the comments, it said there were no comments to display. I called bullshit, refreshed the page, and promptly wished I hadn't bothered. Seriously, people. Giant sea creatures that can tear you apart or shock you into cardiac arrest, and you're worried about her breasts? *face palm*Thanks for video Laci! I've always been fascinated by the ocean since its such a vast, prevalent fixture in our lives yet we know basically next to nothing about what's in it.
Man-o-wars are terrifying, to be sure, but I find it remarkable that there are actually things out there that feed on them. Seriously, I think leatherback turtles and a few others like to gobble them up and don't even mind the stingers. Speaking of the stingers, I recall hearing that some types of clownfish (or something similar to clownfish) actually live within those things.
About the Portuguese Man O'War, my mom when she was young was once stung by a jellyfish, in the prettiest beach in Cuba, Varadero. And it was a deadly sting, but since my mom mostly speaks spanish, she told me that the jellyfish that stung her, was called a Barcito Portuguez, which means Portuguease Boat in english, could it be the Portugease Man O'War that stung her? She did say it was rather BIG
A couple of years ago, I found one of those Portuguese Man O'Wars at the beach in Texas, I put it in a water filled bucket took pictures, then figured out it was probably dead so I buried it in the sand.
Roughly half a percent is still 1/200. We're talking about the ocean here, exploring a two-hundredth of a thing that big is still one hell of an achievement.
I actually have known about some of those animals from watching, I know it sounds weird, Octonauts. It's a show (on Disney Junior) about creatures (A polar bear, a cat, and a penguin are three of the main characters) that help other creatures that live in the sea and while you watch it, you actually learn a lot about some really cool sea creatures.
The Man O' War blew my mind when I first learned about it's crazy amalgamated self. That fringehead though, total nightmare fuel. Ocean, why you got so much awesome?
I always thought that the colossal squid was just a myth that was made up by idiots trying to scare me, holy shit. I also think that the ManoWar is actually very majestic. Also, tbh, Laci is so beautiful.
When I was in Florida in 2011, on the last day of my vacation, I woke up, got out of the hotel and headed on my way to the beach... There were gigantic rip tides and one feature of the area, was that there were hundreds to thousands of these Man O'war creatures along the edge of the beach... as I walked closer, I kept on spotting more and more of these bizzare creatures, and to the point of 2 feet of the position of where I was standing, and these creatures, as described in the video, the sight was somewhat breathtaking, and I also noticed the gigantic tenticles which were stretching out in the direction of the sea and eventually commenced floating on the water even though the creatures were still on the beach. At that point I realized that these thing were extremely long. Accidentally, I took a step in the wrong direction, and I found myself stepping on the gigantic tenticles water swept along the beach.. the pain was excrusciating and I couldnt even recognise that I was there at that present moment it all felt so real but at the same time, it felt so fake just like a dream...
just imagine being underwater with a friend. its dark, you cant see too well, and your flashlight is dim. but in the corner of your eye you see a tentacle. it grabs you, and with huge teeth digs into your flesh, tearing away, dragging you to the depths. you feel the pressure build, and wish for death, but it wont come because of the oxygen tank on you. you are bleeding, and cant see. your eye pops out because of the pressure. a minute later you explode.
I think the giant sea serpent have a good chance at being real. 1) There are sea snakes in the ocean. 2) Whales are huge, why not other animals? 3) The ocean has room. 4) If they haven't explored more than 5% of the ocean, who can say?
Regarding the sea serpent. There are real sea snakes. They are not that big. They are very poisoness but not agressive (divers can play with them without being bitten).
The giant sea serpent has always been very scary and fascinating to me. It's even scarier knowing the kind of large and dangerous creatures that actually do exist under the ocean surface. However, I've always been intrigued by sea monsters in general; probably why Deep Rising is my favorite monster movie lol.
Yo, Peter! Normally someone would say something like 'Why do you say such a thing?' or something, and yeah, Lucy Singh don't listen to him (unless you think of such a Comment as a 'gift'.
They are not just elaborate imaginations of our fantasy!!!!! there is way too much evidence for many different types of so-called sea monsters we just haven't classified them yet. I remember when I was a child people like you used to say that the giant squid didn't even exist.... Yet here we are.
I was once on a boat and at least a thousand jellyfish wen right under me boat and all around it. It was freaky. I actually tried to fish and caught about three jellyfish, They were small ones though. It was like a migration. I was in Destin, Florida.
well according to biologists they say that they have found living proof of mermaids near i think Greenland or Iceland or maybe Scotland i cant remember precisely but they had video footage and everything it was pretty cool
I was on a field trip once and the in the ID book we were using they had made a mistake on the page for the Portuguese man of war and printed that it had a painful and potentially deadly sting in the 'how to ID' rather than the 'dangers' section. I imagined people in the sea spotting the creature: Look a portuguese man of war! No, we can't be sure, we'll have to get it to sting you...
Man O' Wars remind me a little bit of magnemite: Three pokemon that lock together to form one as a whole. Only Man O' War has four organisms, no brain, and no heart...
I've always loved the swimming but I'm terrified of deep water. I know it's stupid but I can't get over the paranoia of something gigantic swallowing a boat or submarine whole.
According to a science professor I've had, people have often mistaken whale penises (which are giant, massive, pink or blue-ish, and almost tentacle looking). Since whales apparently like to come to the surface while whipping their junk out, and humans have mistaken it for a sea monster body, or a giant tentacle.
What is I told you, that I went to a beach once and there were a ton of those jellyfish washed ashore onto the beach and......... I popped one of them. I used a stick and popped it and it just deflated like a balloon. Okay now I am so glad I steered away from the tentacle, and yes they were freaking long.
If you check out her channel "lacigreen" she talks about being sex positive, body image, body anatomy, etc. she once talks about how it's unnecessary to cut off babies' foreskins shortly after they're born.
+Conor Stephenson I m with you.THIS BITCH MAKES ME MAD ,MAD I SAY ,MAAAAAAAD .I WANT TO REACH HER THROUGH MY SCREEN AND CUT HER VOCAL CHORDS OFF .THIS BITCH WOULD MAKE EVEN MOTHER THERESA PUNCH HER TEETH IN !!!!
The thing about sea monsters being referenced to in history is how people forget the size of ships. Until "ships of the line", A Ship made of wood was a very small unit and the farther you go back the smaller they get. To the point that they couldn't even travel to the deep ocean, without waves/current taking them over.(outside of a few ppls), which left it charted for along time....Large sea life which is unfamiliar with man might have seen a small ship as prey or a dead animal. Sharks bump ships even now to check them out.
You're not even scraping the surface on how terrifying the colossal squid can be. It generally wraps a toothed tentacle around prey, DETACHES it from itself goes about its business whilst the detached tentacle convulses and tears apart the prey. then it eventually comes back, REATTACHES THE GODDAMNED TENTACLE and eats the prey. efficient and terrifying wouldn't you say? Plus if you're talking about real life sea monsters, in this case reminiscent of the Kraken, then i would go with the giant octopus, which is big enough to swallow an adult human whole. D:

very nice! how much?

Double D news
Love stories about the other space that we really haven't fully discovered yet XD and your beautiful laci :)
A couple of years ago, I found one of those Portuguese Man O'Wars at the beach in Texas, I put it in a water filled bucket took pictures, then figured out it was probably dead so I buried it in the sand.
Roughly half a percent is still 1/200. We're talking about the ocean here, exploring a two-hundredth of a thing that big is still one hell of an achievement.
i love that lady, she actually enjoys knowledge
I've watched only a couple of these videos, and now I can't stop!!!

That fringehead though, total nightmare fuel.
Ocean, why you got so much awesome?
2:38 OMG! Laci Green it's the ONLY reason of why I've subscribed and watch only the videos with her in it
This is so ridiculously terrifying.
I need to sleep but DNews is so addicting
thanks krug! that sounds like a fun one, i'll keep it on my radar
a human size replica next to these animals would make this video a 10/10 instead of a 9! great stuff though!
I always thought that the colossal squid was just a myth that was made up by idiots trying to scare me, holy shit. I also think that the ManoWar is actually very majestic.
Also, tbh, Laci is so beautiful.
God! Why do 9 out of 10 things that live in water give me nightmares?
The oarfish is one of my favorite fish. They are beautiful and very strange since they live so deep in the ocean.
its basically 4 creatures that join together because they need each other to live. thats the simplest way to describe it.
I love the Oar Fish! People usually spot them when they come to the surface to die or are already on death's door. And damn can they get big. =^.^=
Box Jellyfish is a real monster, super small, almost invisible and its toxin is extremely potent.
When I was in Florida in 2011, on the last day of my vacation, I woke up, got out of the hotel and headed on my way to the beach... Narwhale The Great GG.
I have nightmares now.
Narwhale The Great fck you
LoneWolf
you seem like a nice guy to be around
Narwhale The Great Yeah.... I just imagined that -_-
Narwhale The Great Implode?
I think the giant sea serpent have a good chance at being real.

You know I actually find Laci Green entertaining when she's not talking about feminism.
Such a shame big boobs like that are attached to a feminist like her. Life ain't fair!
I'd love to visit your country one day. If I had to choose any other country to live in, it'd be New Zealand without a doubt.
Luckily for us, Manowars have natural enemies, Sea Turtles! They love to snack on manowars.
My sentiments exactly! LOL!!!
And blue sea slugs
Regarding the sea serpent. There are real sea snakes. They are not that big. They are very poisoness but not agressive (divers can play with them without being bitten).
ok that's the best description of an organism in a science channel yet "a territorial aggressive deuch "
Awesome video! You should do one about extinct sea monsters too, there are some pretty insane animals that used to live in the oceans.
The giant sea serpent has always been very scary and fascinating to me. It's even scarier knowing the kind of large and dangerous creatures that actually do exist under the ocean surface. However, I've always been intrigued by sea monsters in general; probably why Deep Rising is my favorite monster movie lol.
Laci, you are my idol. And the ocean is my absolute favorite thing. This episode was awesome.
Actually giant sea snakes might exist. There are already normal size sea snakes and if whales and squids get that large, why not something else?
This video makes me want to cry.
emo...
hey thanks
Lucy Singh dont take offence to his primitive mind =)
Yo, Peter! Normally someone would say something like 'Why do you say such a thing?' or something, and yeah, Lucy Singh don't listen to him (unless you think of such a Comment as a 'gift'.
it is real. it was seen sometime around last year-ish. technical name is the giant squid.
because she has actually said those words in MANY videos. you just got to find them.
Well I guess they didn't want to make a long video but if they did, they could have put in Mermaids, Megalodon and the Kraken.
The man-o-war is basically a floating land mine, you gotta be able to swim under them. ADURRR
They are not just elaborate imaginations of our fantasy!!!!! there is way too much evidence for many different types of so-called sea monsters we just haven't classified them yet. I remember when I was a child people like you used to say that the giant squid didn't even exist.... Yet here we are.

She should have mentioned that the colossal squid is the basis for the kraken!
well according to biologists they say that they have found living proof of mermaids near i think Greenland or Iceland or maybe Scotland i cant remember precisely but they had video footage and everything it was pretty cool
The Squid is in New Zealand,Wellington, Te PaPa Museum. I've seen it before,Yep I've seen the Squid before
For those interested, check out the Nautilus Live YT Channel. Plenty of weird, awesome and weirdly awesome marine stuff swimming around!
I'm scared of the sea and the ocean, and the things that are swimming there just creep me out more :\ (except for dolphins, I like them)
So, once we thought the giant squid was the largest, we cant definitively say the colossal squid is the largest.
Being how little real knowledge of the deep ocean we have.. I'd say there's more lurking down there than we can imagine. What about... The Bloop?
good! i didn't want the mystery to be destroyed anyway ;)
Chtulhu is real he is in the ocean waiting to be awoken.
same here he watches me and steals parts of my soul every night
South park the berry guy killed him
Im pretty sure he is a H.P Lovecraft story.
I can't imagine how big of a beak the Colossal Squid has... I bet it would EASILY crush someone's head. Good thing I'm not an ocean dweller...
can you also add in the metric equivalent next time? I just have no idea what imperial measurements are. thanks x
you should have covered the vampire squid
I was on a field trip once and the in the ID book we were using they had made a mistake on the page for the Portuguese man of war and printed that it had a painful and potentially deadly sting in the 'how to ID' rather than the 'dangers' section. The sarcastic fringe head looks like a freaking DeepOne from the Lovecraft Universe, wow...
the giant squid is the basis for the legend of the Kraken.
than why not call it kraken: can't scientist admit they were wrong about some mythological creatures existing.
I've always loved the swimming but I'm terrified of deep water. I know it's stupid but I can't get over the paranoia of something gigantic swallowing a boat or submarine whole.
Those man of war things wash up on the beaches here in Florida all the time.
I've been completely entangled in a man o'war before.
According to a science professor I've had, people have often mistaken whale penises (which are giant, massive, pink or blue-ish, and almost tentacle looking). Since whales apparently like to come to the surface while whipping their junk out, and humans have mistaken it for a sea monster body, or a giant tentacle.
Isn't the Kraken based off of the Colossal Squid?
Ive gotton stung by a manowar before. I had to go to the hospital and still have a scar on my foot
That's awesome!!! Ina scale from 1 -10 how much did it hurt? Or did you pass out? No offense for asking though. Still pretty badass though
I was stung on my finger by one, I had never been stung by a jellyfish before
Tomboy0304 8 1/2 haha thanks though
Jenna Taylor technically they are not jellyfish
Ya, I guess they aren't, and OOWWWW
are those real ?
I want all of those as pets now
Hey did u watch that documentary on mermaids an megladon
What is I told you,
that I went to a beach once and there were a ton of those jellyfish washed ashore onto the beach and......... I popped one of them. I used a stick and popped it and it just deflated like a balloon. Okay now I am so glad I steered away from the tentacle, and yes they were freaking long.

+Stan Nicolae damn what did she do?
Giant Squid is awesome.
Fun Fact: Tentacruel's name was originally Man O War xD
Humans may have explored only 5% of the ocean, but they certainly have killed off about 70% and counting.
swimming at a beach in Florida i was stung by a manowar and passed out over pain and now have scars from it
I'm glad to know someone made a difference xD
what about the lochness monster ?
really pretty host! awesome show :D!
i went to see the colossal squid. its huge
i saw another vid and it said manowar tentacles only grow to 50ft wonder who's lying?
I'm sure Sigmund Freud would have an explanation for this.
Sex+ is an excellent show. I'm hoping that she'll write a book some day that goes into greater depth than what her video format allows her to do.
from nz. i feel loved
Can you use metric system ?
Why the colossal squid rather than the giant squid?
some correction human only explored less than five percent of the ocean according to oceanservice.noaa. gov/facts/exploration.html
imagine the amount of calamari from that squid
"Territorial aggressive douche." xD Best name ever.
funny how the male birth control ad at the end is him pretending to rip something apart...
i love this girl :X

Wish I could breathe underwater...
yeah, pretty much
ManOwar is a real life Pokemon o.o the Dugtrio effect!
It should be called DDNews
You should have mentioned the Kraken. Not real, but would have been cool
Awww man, I dont want to die yet..I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MY PLANET.
O...M..G.!!! no glasses!! that makes little sxmboy89 feel some type of way XD
Shit.. i never even knew man of wars were that dangerous... I see them ALL the time when i go to miami beach. i better be careful next time
I live in Florida and I see them all the time at the beach too 😳
LACI you just made my oh my god that girl on the internet is cue list. have an awesome day
