For a limited time starting today (12/15/24) the Gooseberry Patch Christmas cookbook for 2024 is on sale for $1.99--ebook version. Check your favorite ebook seller. This makes me long for the days that I had a family about me to prepare these lovely meals, alas, I am alone. No one is coming to see me for the Holidays, my 99 year old Mom died earlier this year. She loved Christmas and would have enjoyed having these foods on Christmas Morning! Thank you for all these grand recipes! Merry Christmas!🎄⭐️⛄️
❤The holidays can be so hard with families changing over the years. I hope you have a merry Christmas and make a dish or two to enjoy yourself. You deserve it!
It's so tough when loved ones are gone, but please still enjoy the holidays, by making new traditions. For one idea: Depending on where you live, there may be a VA hospital or a VFW/American Legion Post nearby. They would deeply appreciate it if you brought holiday treats. Merry Christmas and joy to you!
I'm so sorry for your loss. I've spent quite a few Christmases on my own. I make sure to actually celebrate it and follow some of the traditions I grew up with and some new ones. Do what makes you happy. I wish you all the best and hope that your Christmas will be merry.
@@Robin-g7q5d Me too. But I go ahead and prepare the feast and treats but scale them down. I think that working in the kitchen helps me take good care of myself... because I deserve it too. And I just love it. All the feels are there; you have to celebrate for and with yourself sometimes.
I hear you. When we get older, gosh it would be nice to have a family member bring us by a treat. We did it all those many decades when we had all that get up and go and thought nothing of it.
What in the world!?!? People actually say something about the amount of dishes you use!?!?! Mind your business!!!! 😂😂😂 thats a crying shame!!! Love ya Anna!!!!!❤
Growing up we Caroled hayride style. My dad would load up a flat bed trailer with hay and pull it behind his pickup. It would be like 20 of us. He had a route he took and when he was done he would start singing Home on the Range out his driver side window. We’d then go to the same family friend house and have “cocoa and cider”…that’s what the kids were drinking. I was in high school the last time we went (mid 80’s). He passed away last year the day before Thanksgiving. He was a surprising guy like that. We were rural. “Town” was a population of 346😂. I think it’s like 650 now.
I got married in 1995 and my mother gave me this cookbook around that time. I still have it. I have a recipe in the Gooseberry Patch "Meals in Minutes" cookbook. At the time in order to look at recipes on their website you had to submit a recipe. So I submitted my Cheeseburger Pie recipe and they published it (page 117)! I got a free copy of the cookbook.
I was born in Michigan, raised in California, now living in Missouri. Now, let me tell you, Vernors is the ONLY ginger ale/ginger soda that I drink. While growing up in California there was only one store nearby that sold Vernors. So we would buy a few 12pks every so often. Even now whenever I'm sick I want soup, oyster crackers and Vernors to help me feel better. 😊
@@LobsterLady72 While visiting the UK (Winchester) I tried Ginger Beer (no alcohol).... don't bother. It's nothing like Vernors. Whenever I leave Michigan there's 2 things that I miss dearly: lots & lots of trees and Vernors. I always come home 🥰
I am so envious of the grapefruit slush. I love grapefruit but can't eat it, it doesn't agree with a medication I take. The whole meal looked delicious.
I paused the video because I just had to go look for Gooseberry Cookbooks on-line. I searched at Thrift books and there are 16 pages of them. Good Grief, I'm gonna be up half the night.
Like others I am surprised that people want to comment on your life - stove, fridge, how many dishes you use!!!???? Me, I am stunned that you actually cook and bake without us watching - how dare you 🤣😆. You are so generous to let us share in your joy of vintage stuff. May you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and 2025. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us.
That grapefruit slush is a FIND! Simple, but still different from the usual. The cherry on top is a boss move, for sure. Totally makes the presentation. Thanks!
The green glass mixing bowl used for creaming the shortening in the Cinn Nut Loaf glowed magically with your fancy hand mixer light. It was festive and oddly captivated me. 😂 congrats on the new appliances!!! Thanks for all your great videos. 🎉
The only gooseberry thing I’ve ever heard of is gooseberry pie, and I still haven’t tried it. That book is as old as I am, and I’m pretty sure my mom bought it the same year. My family is small, and we never went all out for the holidays, but I remember my mom always making wreaths. I think that’s where my love for sewing, embroidering, and crafting started-watching her making Christmas wreaths when I was a kid.

Hi Anna! Always happy to see your videos! You can dirty as many dishes as you want!!! "Bah humbug" to those who have nothing better to say!🤷♀️ Merry Christmas to all!🎄🎅🏻☃️
I know there are a million versions and variations of a breakfast casserole but my family's recipe is: cubed white bread, sliced brown n serve sausages, egg & milk mixture, shredded cheddar cheese and dollops of cream of mushroom soup. This became a Christmas morning staple because my mom was always involved at our church (choir, bells, etc) so she'd be out of the house early. She'd prepare the casserole the night before and pop it in the oven before she left. I guess she trusted my dad to handle taking it out of the oven and serving it to us kids. LOL Or, by the time I was in 4th grade that was probably my "job." ;) As an adult, I continue to make it for every Christmas morning eventhough it's just me and my partner and we're both home. But it's still nice to be able to just pop it in the over and have a leisurely morning and still have a yummy hot brunch! And it's soon good leftover!
I guess I’m vintage. Born in 1980 😂🥰 gotta love anything 90s! This was such a fun one, Anna. Thanks for always sharing your love of cooking with us all. Merry Christmas ❤🎉
I love Vernors!!!! I have Zero Sugar Vernors on-hand all year. You never know when flu or tummy troubles will strike. Gooseberry is looking for recipes, BTW. That loaf sounds yummy. Our favorite breakfast casserole is called Holiday Brunch Casserole (Taste of Home). It uses 4 eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, cheddar cheese, milk, salt, green onion & green bell pepper and 1 cup of Bisquick. Freezes well too.
Hi Anna, I really love your vlogs and remember a lot of the books and dishes you make (yes, I have children your age). I love the horizon blue mixing bowl you used with the handles/pourers. So incredibly handy. I also notice you also have Cecilia Blomdahl’s new book. I just love it too. The grapefruit looks great and perfect for summer! Have a Merry Christmas and I look forward to your coming vlogs in 2025. ❤
I made a half batch of the breakfast casserole, using Maple SPAM (I didn’t feel like thawing a tube of sausage). It was good, but next time, I’ll add some sautéed onion and maybe diced orange or yellow peppers. I didn’t use oregano (thought it would be strange either the maple flavor), so used homemade sugar-free seasoned salt. It was biscuity, but not in a bad way. I will make it again. Thanks for sharing, Anna.
I remember loving Gooseberry Patch cookbooks and could usually only buy them in cute little country-primitive-style gift shops. The kind playing Appalachian dulcimer music (and selling the cd's) and burning a cinnamon scented candle. I had a big collection of those and also vintage BH&G cookbooks and a foolish decluttering fit took hold of me and now I miss all of them. Thank you for another fun video, Anna.
I feel like the canned grapefruit probably came in heavy syrup at the time and probably lended a bit of a different flavor. As much as I hate heavy syrup in fruit, my great grandmother's fruit salad never tastes the same if I try to use the fruit juice sweetened cocktail fruit. I try to make it every year for Christmas. 1 apple cubed, 1 orange, segmented, 1 banana thick slices, 1 reg size can fruit cocktail in heavy syrup, 1/4 c chopped pecans or walnuts. Good handful of reg mini marshmallows. Stir. Love it to death lol. You may think ew marshmallow in fruit salad but it's very good!
Love these kinds of books! When I was in elementary school I got gifted a big Christmas book like this full of stories, songs, recipes and crafts. It really had so many things and beautiful illustrations. It brought the joy of the advent season. I can't really find books like it in stores nowadays. I've been looking over the years. You can find smaller brochures perhaps but not big beautiful bound books
I love your channel and dishes and turned my sister on to it since she used to live in Columbus. With today's episode, I would add a dollup of sour cream with chives on top of each serving of the breakfast casserole and vodka would be the bomb in the grapefruit drink! Fancy! 😊
Wow I forgot about that Xmas. It was so weird you were in cle but at an airbnb. The grapefruit slush looks really good. I bet it would be good over those special edition ginger ales too
I’m a huge space nerd so now I need to go searching for those horizon blue bowls!! 😍 I have an original copy of a newspaper from 1969 the front page story is the ‘moon men’ on their way home! I have it framed and everything!
My mom makes a very similar breakfast casserole for the Christmas morning meal every year. It’s one of my favorite things to eat at Christmas! ❤ Thanks for sharing this version.
Totally off topic, but I noticed the "Life in Svalbard" book in the background. I also watch Cecilia's channel. You should totally make a few of Christoffer's recipes.
I love these videos. And those grapefruit and cups are the same thing as canned you did a good job. I bet you could toast that bread from the freezer and butter it and it'll be really good with tea.

In 1992, they had fruit light syrup and packed in juice, including grapefruit. Just sayin'...
Bring on the brunch!! 😋 Yum.
We’re hosting Christmas brunch this year instead of Christmas dinner. I will definitely be making one of these recipes!
Diet Vernons is the only soda that doesn’t taste like a diet soda. Going to try the casserole 🎄🎄🎄 Merry Christmas 🎁
Love the crazy daisy plates! I love that print and have started collecting the Corelle and Pyrex pieces.
I spied your Life on Svalbard” book! On my wishlist. She had one of my favorite You Tube channels! Loved this video.
Everything looks so delicious. I love the apron-very festive!
I'm so happy you finally did a Gooseberry Patch video! I have several of their books an have enjoyed every recipe I've made from them!
Bet the cinnamon nut loaf would be awesome toasted with a little butter.
@@traciehenry2056I was thinking that, too.
I love the Gooseberry Patch books!!
It was a nice break to watch today’s video. Thanks. And as always thanks for the new recipes and ideas.
I adore your videos. Watching you cook and bake is so relaxing to me ❤
Thank you! Glad you find my videos relaxing. 😊
My mom makes a very similar breakfast casserole for the Christmas morning meal every year. It’s one of my favorite things to eat at Christmas! ❤ Thanks for sharing this version.
Yay on more Bisquick recipes
Have a great week, Anna ❤
Totally off topic, but I noticed the "Life in Svalbard" book in the background. I also watch Cecilia's channel. You should totally make a few of Christoffer's recipes.
❤ vernor's. We did the same thing when we were stationed in CA

I love grapefruit! I'm definitely going to need to try that recipe. 🤤
I love these videos. And those grapefruit and cups are the same thing as canned you did a good job. I bet you could toast that bread from the freezer and butter it and it'll be really good with tea.
My favorite apron so far ❤❤
Vernor’s. The one thing I just can’t get a taste for since I moved to Michigan.
Another great video, Anna.
