- The accounts payable process has more moving parts than many accounting and finance professionals realize. It involves a lot more than simply getting a bill and paying a bill. That’s precisely the reason I created this intensive session, which is based by the way, on part of my just published book, Fundamentals of Accounts Payable.
Whether you're an experienced accounting or accounts payable professional looking to review the basics, a new graduate hoping to land a job in accounts payable, a seasoned accounting or finance professional looking to sharpen your financial acumen, or a bottom-line focused entrepreneur, you've come to the right place. Make sure you stick around until the end when we discuss several issues that many don’t even realize is part of the accounts payable process. #accountspayable #accountspayableprocess #accountspayablebestpractices

Hello. Great video. Thank you so much. QUESTION - I have an accounting degree. However, I have not worked in the accounting field since receiving my degree as I ended up joining the military. I am now looking to start my accounting career. Do you have an advice about how to do this? I have basic knowledge of accounting from what I remember in school (which was over 10 years ago). However, I see on most job postings that they are looking for someone with this and that experience. It's a bit discouraging. Thanks!
Is there ANYTHING you did during your time in the military that is even remotely connected to the job market? Did you have people reporting to you? That would be managerial experience. See if you can find a small not-for-profit and volunteer to do some of their accounting work (for free ☹. Also, you may have to take an entry level job ... with no experience required ... although that probably has some salary challenges. Finally, look back to the part time jobs you had in college. Did any of them have an accounting component that you can emphasize on your resume and during interviews. Also, look for companies that try and hire veterans in your area. I just did a Microsoft copilot search and it listed about 10. Lastly, don't give up. Keep trying and you will get something. Good luck and let us know when you land a job - I know you will!!!
Hi. Do you have a video on AP reconciliation?
No - but that's a good idea for a future one. You might look at the one we did on auditing AP. It might help. See ruclips.net/video/KQYk32cKzvk/видео.html
Hi, thank you for your video. I want to ask how AP can identifying volume of invoices received by month, by facility? What are the best approach to do this? Thanks before
Good question. Depending on your ERP, you may be able to pull the answer from there. If not, you can try pulling the data by processor and then adding it up manually
@@APNow is there any query or automation that can be able to do this? also i have another questions below, i really thankful if you can help me
- if a business user ask AP to pay immediately an invoice (before the regularly scheduled payment), what should I do?
- how to tell business user who want to use a supplier that accept credit card payment only however the credit card is only allowed to pay travel expense based on company policies
- I have received an invoice that has terms stated upon receipt, however the supplier record has them set up for net 30 terms. Should I proceed Net 30 terms?
@@nestlingua 1) I would not pay immediately without approval from management. If you pay early once, they will always ask for it. 2) tell them you cannot do that. A travel card should NOT be used to pay invoices. If the organization wants to set up a p-card, that is a different story. If you pay with the card and then they send an invoice, you will end up double paying. 3) pay in 30 days. The fact that they put due upon receipt on the invoice is irrelevant. Good luck.
@@APNow thank you so much I miss on number 3
Hey, I’m Studying On Ap Right Now & I Wanted To Know If There Are If Any Companies That Take Entry Level Ap Knowledge For Jobs ?
probably - but no one advertises that way, so it's hard to identify them. Many companies hire someone with either accounting or bookkeeping backgrounds or knowledge and train them. good luck
Basically learn and retain what you are studying, say yes I have X amount of experience, get your foot in the door, let them train you and bam. :)
I am also studying for Ap and need a entry level job to start with but it has been difficult
@@brandik1997 good advice!!!
@@thelordsdelight. It is always hard to get that first job - but if you keep at it, you will succeed. Good luck
💔
??????
I am not accountant ,can i do this job?
Yes - most people who start in AP are not 😁
@@APNowwhat is the requirement?
It depends on where your applying at. If they say you need CPA experience with on job training of 3+ years then that's what it is. So a 4-year degree + 3+ job training could be a requirement. Or maybe these people allow on job training either way good 👍 😊
