Goals Vs Resolutions

  • Resolutions are nice, but there's a reason why they're not sticking. Instead of just wishing for things to change in the New Year, let's make goals and a game plan to achieve them. And remember, your voice is powerful! So once you decide what your goals are, say them out loud. When you say it, it makes it more real. #newyearsresolutions #newyearnewme #newyearsgoals #newyeargameplan #vocalcoach #speechlessons #vocallessons #vocaltraining #voicecoach #voicecare #greatcommunicator #publicspeaking

Agreed Roger. What do you think of the Alexander technique along with your lessons to get to the goals we set?

Great comment. I think the Alexander technique is effective for a lot of people. To me it's very similar to what we're talking about here. Many are also using the term "micro goals." The Alexander Technique might define this as giving more focus to the process than the overarching goal. But the real difference is learning how to identify the steps and processes (micro goals) needed to achieve the over-arching goals. In my teaching, I instinctively do this by identifying the foundational elements for proper vocal production and then working on the "processes" that help the student create those sounds or techniques correctly.
