How the hell has Tobias made one of the most addictive bands i've ever seen? It's honestly amazing how their songs become amazing after a few listens even if you arn't interested at first
@@ragnarokxg2113 Same here only I heard about them years ago. I liked Cirice but I never listened to their other stuff till about 3 weeks ago. I really regret it now because i've missed 2 concerts near where I live

Ghost is not supposed to be upbeat though. The ghost I fell in love with was dark, sinister, and haunting. This is not anything like that. I mean, don't get me wrong, Tobias can do what he wants, and there are people that like the new sound, but for fans of the original ghost sound, it's a big disappointment.
@@Michael-jw6et I can respect that. I started with the newer albums so perhaps I have a bias. But I do think the old stuff is truly amazing. I think they are "upbeat" to me in that it sort of says "yeah the world is burning down but you got this". even ghuleh zombie queen is one of those for me

Just discovered Ghost today after seeing this clip on Rage. Within an instant I thought "What is this? It's magnificent " looks like I've got lots of Ghost to listen too. What a talented artist. The imagery is incredible also. 👌🏻
My friend, you are about to embark on an incredible journey of music. The more you listen the more you will learn to love all their music. I have been on such a ride with Ghost for 2 years now.
Sameee, I thought Mary on a Cross was going to be like every other song popular on Tik Tok that leaves me disappointed but now I'm obsessed with listening to everything.
Human beings were born with a good and dark side and there needs to an integration of both in one’s life, nowadays people often try so hard to be good that they repress their dark side and feel consequently unhappy, this song both sounds good and has a degree of darkness added to it therefore it has that dark positivity that you mentioned which most of us feel when listening to it This song serves as an example of what happens when you finally integrate and and allow some darkness to be felt Sort of feels like screaming in a society that forces you to keep quiet all the time
@@shawnsmith9596 You pretty much hit the nail on the head there, mate. We are, each of us, equal parts light and dark and need to allow both sides to breathe. To do otherwise is suffocating.

YES! I just discovered them at a ritual in September (2022), and I got here JUST IN TIME. This band is going to explode. I mean, how can they not? ARE YOU HEARING THIS, PEOPLE!?!?
This is so typically Ghost - first time listening to it I was like 'meh it's ok, not that amazing', then I felt like I had to give it another listen, then I was humming the chorus at work, then it was stuck in my head all day for an entire weekend and now I'm back for probably my 50th watch of this video. There is some dark magic at work here surely... :)
Yeah, it's very peculiar. Ghost has been my favorite band for many years now, and yet my first reaction to every new release is kind of underwhelming, but then I keep listening and the songs always end up growing on me. Spillways especifically is probably my favorite Ghost song at the moment, and I was very dismissive at first.
@@EwMatias Same, just now fully diving into Impera and its just incredible. Been listening to them for 10 years and I still haven't learned my lesson lol
They do have heavier songs such as Con Clavi Con Dio! Ghost doesn’t fit into just one genre of rock! They are still amazing and you should check out Con Clavi Con Dio ❤
This song is insanely beautiful. I hated impera initiay. The lyrical content in this song is what clinched it. Encouraging humans to let go of their constricted rules and controlled ways of living. Especially religion. Be free and enjoy your time.
What a joke, people claim they are free and run to paganism and the occult which is almost impossible to escape from once you fall into its trap. Ghost has some catchy tunes but they are leading people down the wrong path.
By far my favorite song from Impera. I'd love to see what a video for that song would be. Also I'd love to get the actual lyrics so I know what's being whispered in the background vocals. It's driving me bonkers not knowing.
In the few years I've been listening to Ghost, I have to appreciate their embrace of pop in their music, it's like a Satanic Abba and I'm all for it. This, by the way, is an absolute bop.
This is fast becoming my favourite Ghost song, which is a tall order with all their great music. I had the pleasure of seeing them August 4th for the first time. Honestly it was life changing!
Man, I can't believe it took me so long to find this band but when my alt station played Square Hammer I needed to find it. And then started listening to their other work and now I am on a tear to buy the discography of their sweet sweet music.
This was my first time listening to Ghost and while I wasn't expecting that voice based on the appearance I love the song and plan to spend the rest of the night checking out others.

@@samjuiced I honestly recommend Cirice as it feels a bit heavier, that and the lyrics and message behind it are so damn genius that I legitimately wrote a paper dissecting it while in high school English. Year Zero is also fantastic. It’s not all the heavy, I just adore it for having a feeling of absolute scope using a synthesized orchestra and a choir on the level of Gangster’s Paradise. Rats is also great, that’s one of the more heavy songs as well. That and I can’t get enough of Cardinal Copia frolicking through death and chaos. Edit: Dance Macabre is written using puns to sound like a pop love song. And it slaps…yeah pretty much everything is good.

I reckon Popestar was them just throwing out a bunch of stuff that didn't sound like the old songs, just to see what people liked so they could move towards it.

Album Review: As it isn’t my taste in bands or lyrical content… I have to say that in terms of production quality, writing, and the over all sound and theme of the album. This album brought back the nostalgia of Dokken, Alice Cooper, Def Leppard, White Snake, etc. I feel like it had room for Queensryche Theatrics… Very 80s in nature.. But very modern as well… It gave me that dream warriors vibe… I feel if there was an album to throw in a nightmare on elm street remake, this would be that album. I feel like a scene with Nancy listening to this song in her car is possible. It sounds like Dream Warriors to me. I feel as if the throw back nostalgia of the 80s with modern sounds is still a high demand sound… Especially with Screamo and Emo kind of fading more and more as Millenials get older. I personally want to see a Bret Michael’s come out of this next generation of Rock. Or a new Eddy Van Halen… The universe is ready for some new legends of Rock…. Ghost did a great job with this album, it’s really refreshing… I wasn’t expecting this from such a Goth Rock Doom Metal Ozzy band… It was shocking to hear such a style change… but refreshing…. I’d like to hear them do more like this, hopefully they’ll take it even further next time… It has room for growth but not bad… I give a 9 out of 10… Needs some inspiration from Queensryche in my Opinion… The only flavor I feel is missing from the album… Needs theatrical sequences with sound effects at least in one track… Especially if your gonna throw back to that era of Rock Music…. Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Judas, Alice Cooper, Eddy Money, Dokken, Ratt, I hear so much of these bands I heard as a child in this album… It brings a tear to my eye… Flashing back to when I was a kid listening to these bands with my Dad. As far as music appreciation goes… Great Album… Very Refreshing.

The art directors of their videos and shows are phenomenal. As well as the costum design down to make up, lighting, choreography and music. I'm hooked and love this band !
I listened to this song yesterday for the first time.. and I cried.. Something about their songs makes me feel vulnerable, like really really vulnerable.. as if someone is looking directly at my soul without any filters for the first time in my whole life. I've never been 100% vulnerable with anyone in my life, not even with my closest friends.. I'm always scared of being hurt or used so I always hide parts of myself... Feeling this way for the first time was scary and sad yet good at the same time. Life Eternal and Cirice also made me feel this way but not as much as Spillways.. and no other song by any other singer/band has ever made me feel like this EVER. Love Ghost till my last breath 🖤
I'm 52 and I say no. Many of their hits remind me of music from the groups I enjoyed in the 80s, especially Accept and Scorpions. Man, Ghost has the groove! 😎

Oh man Ghost you have created the ultimate “It’s okay to cry” song. You have touched my soul truly. You don’t know how many people you’ve saved 😖 Also this song makes me wanna dance 💃🏻
I’m a 56 year old who lived through music of the 70’s and 80’s, etc and I love this band!!!
I to experienced music of the 70s 80s and 90s. Ghost is a awesome band. Grammys to come.
With you on that👍
🎸🙋♀️I’m an 80s metal head musician. Ghost is cool.
theres always a comment similar to this on every metal music video hahah
I keep thinking this one has such a 70's rock vibe it could easily have been on 7 Inches of Satanic Panic.
A week ago I didn't know this band existed, and I've listened to nothing but them since. Amazing!
Listen to their first 3 albums, much better

@@EnviousExorcist different strokes for different folks. Personally Meloria’s my favorite but the last two are still great. Gotta remember too, each album represents their respective papa’s/cardinal’s personality

Ghost is awesome! But you need to go listen to Whispering Wolf by SLT right now!!! You're missing out :)!!!!
Tobias voice goes really well with 80s rock. He also has that flamboyant quality of rock stars from that era.
Ghost is definitely what the music industry needs today!!
How the hell has Tobias made one of the most addictive bands i've ever seen? It's honestly amazing how their songs become amazing after a few listens even if you arn't interested at first
This just a month ago I was a fan of a couple songs and now I have gone through their whole catalogue multiple times.
@@ragnarokxg2113 Same here only I heard about them years ago. I liked Cirice but I never listened to their other stuff till about 3 weeks ago. I really regret it now because i've missed 2 concerts near where I live
I hated hunters moon at first, and now it’s my favorite song lol
Because he's way more intelligent than average.
A variety of catchy melodies, sick riffs, good singing and a big juicy slab of blasphemy to keep it interesting.
Their sound is based around 80s classic rock and it’s EXACTLY what todays society needs
I grew up on that kind of music as an 80's baby. My mom always had radios, casette tapes and CD's playing.
You mean how this is very much a goth version of Bon Jovi's Runaway? LOL
Not a problem, just was instant comparison to me lol
This song has kind of an Alice Cooper poison vibe to me.
@Michelle Hoover came here to say wow so refreshing when a band just blatantly rips off a classic someone gonna sue lol
@James Kaplan EXACTLY!!
I was a naysayer at one time, but this band is genius. They will be a gateway drug for the public to explore the very deep metal world.
don't say nay, you naysayer
I can't believe I only found this group this year, I heard Mary on a cross playing on someone's phone on the train as I was going to work couple of months ago. I haven't stopped listening to their music. Also bought tickets to their Melbourne concert, I'm so excited, I so, so cannot wait to go 😍💋
Such a beautifully upbeat song about the darkness within finding its way out.
Become a member of Ghoul School Ghost with the most Facebook group
Ghost is not supposed to be upbeat though. The ghost I fell in love with was dark, sinister, and haunting. This is not anything like that. I mean, don't get me wrong, Tobias can do what he wants, and there are people that like the new sound, but for fans of the original ghost sound, it's a big disappointment.
@@Michael-jw6et Bro, Ghost has always skirted on the popy side.
@@Michael-jw6et I can respect that. I started with the newer albums so perhaps I have a bias. But I do think the old stuff is truly amazing. I think they are "upbeat" to me in that it sort of says "yeah the world is burning down but you got this". even ghuleh zombie queen is one of those for me
@@Michael-jw6et You can see old interviews when Forge still disguised as a ghoul in which he spoke about Ghost aim was wanting people to be happy and have fun.
Dude…. The chord progression, the key changes. Musically this is refreshing writing, this is the backbone of good music. Seriously, you guys are my new favorite band. I’m a guitar player, I couldn’t be happier. You have a fan for life! Thank you

This song makes me feel so good. I can't quite explain it. It just has a dark positivity to it.
Same
Human beings were born with a good and dark side and there needs to an integration of both in one’s life, nowadays people often try so hard to be good that they repress their dark side and feel consequently unhappy, this song both sounds good and has a degree of darkness added to it therefore it has that dark positivity that you mentioned which most of us feel when listening to it
This song serves as an example of what happens when you finally integrate and and allow some darkness to be felt
Sort of feels like screaming in a society that forces you to keep quiet all the time

It’s the key changes
Perfect description! I had the same experience when I first heard them as well. One of my favourites now - everything is just so damn tight.
Yeah, it's very peculiar. Ghost has been my favorite band for many years now, and yet my first reaction to every new release is kind of underwhelming, but then I keep listening and the songs always end up growing on me. Spillways especifically is probably my favorite Ghost song at the moment, and I was very dismissive at first.

i just love the 80's rock vibe a lot of ghost songs have, some of the best music to come out in the last two decades
This song is insanely beautiful.
I hated impera initiay.
The lyrical content in this song is what clinched it. Encouraging humans to let go of their constricted rules and controlled ways of living. Especially religion. Be free and enjoy your time.
Dude I don’t know if you noticed but society totally ignores religion…your statement might mean something 40 or more years ago
@@hotlanta35 well a lot of people in the world still live in a religious environment that stops them from being free
What a joke, people claim they are free and run to paganism and the occult which is almost impossible to escape from once you fall into its trap. Ghost has some catchy tunes but they are leading people down the wrong path.
@Hunter Vonnegut

Many would say that the music of Abba was already Satanic.

Album Review:
As it isn’t my taste in bands or lyrical content…
I have to say that in terms of production quality, writing, and the over all sound and theme of the album.
This album brought back the nostalgia of Dokken, Alice Cooper, Def Leppard, White Snake, etc.
I feel like it had room for Queensryche Theatrics…
Very 80s in nature..
But very modern as well…
It gave me that dream warriors vibe…
I feel if there was an album to throw in a nightmare on elm street remake, this would be that album.
I feel like a scene with Nancy listening to this song in her car is possible.
It sounds like Dream Warriors to me.
I feel as if the throw back nostalgia of the 80s with modern sounds is still a high demand sound…
Especially with Screamo and Emo kind of fading more and more as Millenials get older.
I personally want to see a Bret Michael’s come out of this next generation of Rock.
Or a new Eddy Van Halen…
The universe is ready for some new legends of Rock….
Ghost did a great job with this album, it’s really refreshing… I wasn’t expecting this from such a Goth Rock Doom Metal Ozzy band… It was shocking to hear such a style change… but refreshing…. I’d like to hear them do more like this, hopefully they’ll take it even further next time…
It has room for growth but not bad…
I give a 9 out of 10…
Needs some inspiration from Queensryche in my Opinion…
The only flavor I feel is missing from the album…
Needs theatrical sequences with sound effects at least in one track… Especially if your gonna throw back to that era of Rock Music….
Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Judas, Alice Cooper, Eddy Money, Dokken, Ratt,
I hear so much of these bands I heard as a child in this album…
It brings a tear to my eye…
Flashing back to when I was a kid listening to these bands with my Dad.
As far as music appreciation goes…
Great Album…
Very Refreshing.

I've never been 100% vulnerable with anyone in my life, not even with my closest friends.. I'm always scared of being hurt or used so I always hide parts of myself... Feeling this way for the first time was scary and sad yet good at the same time.

I wonder if they got their name from that. Many thought that kind of music was dead. Perhaps it was. Nonetheless, it has returned to us as a 👻. ❤😉👍

You add Joe Elliott into the mix it definitely does.
His piano playing never fails
Freaking awesome.
Ghost does something that not many bands can do: they consistently one-up themselves with each new release.
not unlike eminem
@@seancostello4158 there's a difference?
@@MaurizioMezzatesta nope, same band lol.
@@shanej.OG-GenXer- the music is very unlike eminem's, but there's no arguing that he's consistently raised the bar he set himself
@@MaurizioMezzatesta Eminem to Ghost: "What's the difference between me and you"
This song is honestly one of the funnest songs Ghost has ever done. You never know what to expect with them but I love everything Tobias does!
Agreed!
Who? 😉

@@MrSpooky956they said funnest. They never said it was funny

I can't be the only one that likes to drink, listen to Ghost and cry listening to it because it's impossible to process how someone can write songs this good. ;)
I love this song. Griftwood should get one too
Yes
Griftwood is easily the best song on the album

I know this probably won’t reach the intended parties, but thank you Ghost. Your music and general presence has helped me through so much of my anxiety. Anytime I’m down or need a boost of confidence I put you guys on and face the day head on. I really appreciate you!
Has this classic rock vibe to it. I like how chill it is
Idk why their music just sound so nostalgic, love it ON FIRE !!!❤❤❤
I’m a huge fan of 80s music. I always say that I wish I was around when it came out and that I’m sad the music today is a huge step back from that time. However, I think this band has proved me wrong. I love the 80s vibe that it sets off and just the overall sound of it. It’s incredible
It’s giving Poison by Alice Cooper. ❤️❤️❤️
Sameeee
This song sounds exactly like She’s a little runaway by Bon Jovi
What? Most of radio pop singles is remixed 80's songs. There's a fairly sizeable amount of artists that recreate 80's sounds. Do you live under a rock or maybe you don't know how to find new music?
@@NobodyCaresALot nothing coming out today sounds anything like 80s music but okay, “Nobody”
The songwriting, harmonies, and hooks are just off the charts. These guys are so talented.
Man, you guys really rock!!!!!
I can’t put into words how much I love this song. The vocals, backing vocals, piano, guitar, all of it is so amazing. Props to Tobias, he definitely has a one of a kind talent 💕
The first minute of this song seems just like a masterclass in how to make music
This song makes my blood burning now !
This song is absolutely amazing in all aspects..... but to be honest im most impressed by the drumms in this song...... hes beating it like its owe him money :D absolutely amazing
If it wasn't for TikTok I would have never found this awesome band, now I'm hooked!!
same. incredible style and sound, glad i found them!!
my parents shown me this band
Same! I absolutely love them now. I hate to say but TikTok has introduced me to quite a few bands and songs I actually quite enjoy!
same here
It all started from "your beauty never ever scared me"
As a kid of the 80’s this band rocks, so refreshing to hear, beats any modern mass produced garbage
My favorite part is when he does the little hand movement when he says " and I ain't talking about forgiveness".
OMG, that's my favorite part too.
He's amazing & has great vocals.
