I have a Kverneland 5 furrow plough on the back of a Claas 820, the points wear very well and they are reversable, very good plough and I am well impressed with it !
Not sure if they are original parts, I get them from the local engineers who probably get them from Spaldings, they are red so there is every chance they are Kverneland. Think I pay about £6 each for them, we have some very stoney heavy land on the Island and they wear very well
I don't know it is the same with Kuhn but on the Kverland ploughs you get one spanner on the plough and it fits everything and they hold their value and will work for decades no bother
At harvest you passed me loads of times with grain trailer,,, The 5 furrow KV i was using has to be the best plough i have ever used i honestly can not fault it.
Have to get the material spec on the replacement points to effectively evaluate them for wear/price. Cheaper ones a lot of the time last only a season in certain soils.
One of our KVs is from the early 70s or so and the other is much newer both excellent ploughs neighbour has a kuhn not too bad of a plough but think the KV is the better option
Oh Crawford you youngsters are well spoiled now with GPS, Offset ploughs, full hydraulic functionality unlike us oldies where after a days ploughing you walked at an angle for days from running in the furrow and straining in the seat and had an arm with massive muscles from manual tripping of reversible ploughs 🙂 Looks like a solid plough with great layover of the furrow.
I have ploughed tens of thousands of acres over the years, I worked for a contractor for a few years and one farm we did was 2500 acres, I would plough the whole lot with a KV five furrow vari width, some days in a big field could plough over 50 acres with her opened up to 20”, 7am start 10pm finish
@@CrawfordsFarm1 not really for any length of time, I personally would never go past a KV, they were good old days when I was fit and young lol, loved it at the time, had a brand new Case Magnum 7210, 150hp it was a beast
We do some minimum tillage with the osr and tried some wheat this year too… worth trying i guess but i also think glypho will be banned… may be 2 years maybe 5 maybe 10 who knows… but graduate to a mix of plough and less tillage 👍🏼
Kv very good plough but tend to crack and not last as long as other brands such as your lemken or Kuhn (There the 3 brands I’ve worked with , so that’s just my opinion👍🏻)
@@CrawfordsFarm1 on the actual main beam of the plough we had one ourselves (not doing massive amounts only around 200acre a year ) and it cracked and a neighbour bought one and there’s also did the same thing , but for performance in the field there a good plough no doubt 👍🏻

You can also have something like subsoiler on each furrow, like a dorn, helps against the compaction be in furrow:) ✌️

You will not go wrong with a KV plough, I have used several never had a problem. They hold their value well if or when you ever want to change it.

Kv all the way the best plough by far with good resale values, consider maze skimmers if you intend growing winter cover crops etc !
Kv great plough. That particular model is heavy and being offset more stress sideways on tractor when on turnover.
Might tuck in before turning, if not could time it to tuck before turning

The soil you have there looks loose and light have you thought about direct drilling or min till
We do some min till, everything before and after osr. Also tried some wheat after barley this year… see how that goes 👍🏼

Most of the spurious points will last longer than the KV ones and they are cheaper to .l have got atleast 1.5 acres a point more than kv original
