Susan you are a god send. Thank you so much for your tips and tricks, they have helped my struggling 7 year old so much with getting caught up with his class and he can now join in with group activities that he otherwise would have been excluded from due to his lagging reading level. ❤
I’m a big OG fan!! Glad you took the course and incorporate it in your lessons! Love the blending cards in the binder idea!! I grabbed them from TPT already!!! You’re the BEST Susan!!💕
You have really great advice for educators. I am a veteran but still refer to your videos every so often. Our district could actually, play your videos during staff development seminars.
I'm a big fan of routines, and I love how you made doing this routine so easy! I'm grabbing it in the reading club today! I am so happy I joined. Every time I need something, it's there!
Thank you so much for such helpful videos each week! Brilliant idea to create binder cards. I have the blending slides and love them! I use the mats in small groups too!
We had the opportunity to take the IMSE course in Torrington, Wyoming this past October. There is sand and trays you can purchase from IMSE that go with the three part drill that is worth EVERY penny. My tier 2 /small group third graders LOVE three part drill of which happens every Monday, Wednesday and Friday as stated in our IMSE training. In addition to using nonsense words on the blending board, I tell my third graders the nonsense word MAY be a syllable in a multi syllable word. (This is an excellent way to bump up the learning in the higher grade levels). We also discuss how many syllables the blended word has, break apart the syllables (if there is a consonant le syllable-there’s 2 syllables). They get to push my IMSE cards apart (I place the big cards from the video on my kidney table in front of them) showing where they would break the word, then they name the syllables within that blended word. They have felt such success in this three part process! Our district paid for this expensive training. It is the best training I’ve ever gone to in my 30 years of teaching.
Yes!! Thankfully so many districts have been paying for their teachers to get this training and I hope that continues. The IMSE training and LETRS training have been the most valuable ones I’ve taken in the last 3 years! I highly recommend both!
Ask your school to pay as an option for anyone who has not taken the program. I took it under IMSE and Savannah Dislexia. I just started my blending drill. My question is what to do with my one strong reader? I think my other reader could benefit from the 3-part-drill. The rest of the class are Prealphabetic - Late/Full alphabetic.
Hi! I wanted to know what is the holder of your blending board? Did you use a binder? Your videos and materials have been so helpful to me. Thank you so much.
Hi Susan, Do you have vowel teams and more advanced word cards in your store? They are easy enough for me to make but I could purchase and save time. I love blending routines. This is part of my morning routine in my reading group and the kids enjoy it. I use index cards but the binder is much better! I will definitely make the blending board for ESY!!
Love it! How do I join your writing and literacy clubs? I put my email in, but not sure it worked to be notified when it opens. I cannot wait to join. How does it work?
Hi Susan! I purchased the phonics bundle from tpt that you mentioned in this video. I cannot seem to open it! I do wonder if I need an acrobat reader before I can open it in google slides. You response is greatly appreciated.
Hi there! So sorry you are having trouble opening the PDF! TPT has a help article you can find here if you are having this type of problem: help.teacherspayteachers.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043055371-What-if-I-can-t-open-a-file I hope this helps!
Hi! The blending drill is an OG technique that has been around long before IMSE, so I wanted to share a bit about how the blending drill works. For example, I had created my digital blending slides well before I took the IMSE course. I mention IMSE and the course in this video specifically because people always asked about the blending board behind me and I wanted to share what it was and where I got it. I highly recommend the IMSE course to anyone interested in learning more (and link it and their resources in my video)!

I definitely want to add a blending drill to my lessons!
I use the blending board from IMSE, too. I appreciate your easy-to-follow letter card sorting sheet!
This is great! Thank you. I will definitely use this idea.

So do you use this with a big class or only small groups?
Great for my home tutoring student. Thx

I am not in a state how can I join this training ? Is there any chance to attend this online ?
IMSE and Savannah Dislexia can been done online.
So IMSE doesn't go after you for making content based on their OG comprehensive course? they told us that wasn't permitted during our training.
