There is literally no universe that the Silicon chip in that work station could even DREAM of outperforming something like that. That’s not to mention that it’s only the base model of that Mac work station, if you want any decent amount of RAM or storage, you’d be coughing up an extra 1000 bones for that trash. To be fair, I’m in chemistry and I really like my Mac for work, writing, and design/making figures. I have a custom build sitting at home for fun though. Only problem is that lots of equipment’s ancient software (namely my university’s IR-ATR, mass spec, and TGA) don’t have software that works on Mac. For NMR and other equipment that supports it, it’s fantastic.

I just don’t work in that type of field but I need that type of stuff I do concrete and photography as a hobby. I don’t need a MacBook😂 But I do know the old thread ripper is outdated the 7950x3d I have gets 34-36,000 on cinebench which is 5,000 higher than the original thread ripper
@@stevejobsreal 100% you need a good gaming pc to have an equivalent because my gpu and CPU can take different loads and my cpu only uses half the processing for heavy loads and the rest for what ever i want. so if im going from thing to thing to thing while rending photos i wont feel slow because good ram and lots plus the CPU makes it so nice lol. the GPU market is fucked rn and everything i want is to expensive and MSRP is already a lot and i need to upgrade to the next generation of GPU cause i have a bottle neck which is only noticeable sometimes. but thats where apple wins yall dont have that issue just buy the new mac with more ram. only downside is if you play games but apple is slowly making the push they just want steams money and steam wont let it happen

Take this as an example, my $1200 PC setup can basically take care of any reasonable workload i throw at it. While yea the mac can do it faster, it still accomplishes the same goal. Disabling older applications that use internet once newer versions are available that are only compatible with newer OS forcing you to update.

It can even beat OLED displays in brightness (1600 nits), has better color accuracy, HDR, contrast ratio, better blooming. At the professional level, it's considered great and there are other monitors up to 10k by other brands. It's like saying oh but the i7-12700k uses transistors in it like the Athlon classic

It's hugely different and built for people who need that kind of specs. FOR WORK!
@@Adthin those "editing and graphic design" graphics cards are the exact same silicon as what's in the gaming cards. The only difference is (sometimes) more VRAM and different drivers. The best card right now for video editing in an industry standard software (like DaVinci Resolve) is the RTX3090, a consumer card marketed for gaming. Same goes for Xeons vs Core, the Xeons are the same silicon, they usually just support very specific features for virtualization and support more total memory, things that are not necessary for 99.99% of the things people buy these machines for. I use a consumer processor, 64gb of non-ECC memory, and an RTX3090 in my video editing machine, it's faster than a Mac Pro in DaVinci Resolve.
for the record "work" in this instance refers to stuff like professional video editing or 3d modelling or graphic design, not typing essays in Google docs

Mac pro uses old low end parts for a high price. Gaming is just a workload to measure a gpus performance. If it's bad at gaming, it's equally as bad in any other workload. It's a graphics compute unit. If it's bad at gaming, a graphical compute workload, it's bad at everything else. A gpu faster in gaming is a gpu faster in every other way It's not an excuse.

I haven’t ran many tests to see how my PC would run as a workstation but I have a rendered a lot of videos and I bet you damn well it’s faster than those. He only thing it’s better at is the Apple Interconnectivity, which is very very helpful. I just don’t work in that type of field but I need that type of stuff I do concrete and photography as a hobby. I don’t need a MacBook😂
But I do know the old thread ripper is outdated the 7950x3d I have gets 34-36,000 on cinebench which is 5,000 higher than the original thread ripper

@@stevejobsreal 100% you need a good gaming pc to have an equivalent because my gpu and CPU can take different loads and my cpu only uses half the processing for heavy loads and the rest for what ever i want. so if im going from thing to thing to thing while rending photos i wont feel slow because good ram and lots plus the CPU makes it so nice lol. the GPU market is fucked rn and everything i want is to expensive and MSRP is already a lot and i need to upgrade to the next generation of GPU cause i have a bottle neck which is only noticeable sometimes.

4. Not allowing newer backups to be restored to older macos/ios. On mac os you would have to restore everything manually.

The Mac Pro has "different" specs, it doesn't run gaming graphic cards it runs editing and graphic design graphic cards, instead of an i9 it runs Intel Xeon and instead of 128gb of ram it has 2tb. It's hugely different and built for people who need that kind of specs. FOR WORK!
@@Adthin those "editing and graphic design" graphics cards are the exact same silicon as what's in the gaming cards. The only difference is (sometimes) more VRAM and different drivers. The best card right now for video editing in an industry standard software (like DaVinci Resolve) is the RTX3090, a consumer card marketed for gaming. Same goes for Xeons vs Core, the Xeons are the same silicon, they usually just support very specific features for virtualization and support more total memory, things that are not necessary for 99.99% of the things people buy these machines for.
I use a consumer processor, 64gb of non-ECC memory, and an RTX3090 in my video editing machine, it's faster than a Mac Pro in DaVinci Resolve.
for the record "work" in this instance refers to stuff like professional video editing or 3d modelling or graphic design, not typing essays in Google docs
