Ted has done an excellent job about telling this extremely devastating series of events by one callous individual. On this fateful night I was rostered on and attended the Terrigal crime scene. Something I have never forgotten. It would be great to get in contact with Ted to clarify a particular point that was raised in the podcast. Gary please keep these fascinating podcasts coming.

This poor man, you can hear him reliving this terrible crime. He is understandably still suffering from ptsd. I often drive past the house in Barnhill Drive, and the events of the night always flood back. I can’t imagine the suffering of all involved.

We obviously don't get sentencing right, and we all know that sentencing times are quite short in Australia by comparison to world standards.
I looked up the recividism rates again recently in Australia, and it it is actually quite high around 30%, as high as 58% in my state 🤦🏼‍♀️ which is shocking !!
I have never heard of this case. very interesting to hear the details and your conversation about the good old days, and what it is like to be a detective on such a case.
Again thank you Gary for raising awareness around this issue. It's important. We have to do more as a community to lower the statistics. When someone is murdered it isn't just that person that dies, but often a whole branch of that family tree dies with them. Children that will never be born, potential that will never be realised. Never was that more blindingly obvious than when a pregnant woman and child lose their lives. It makes the senselessness and the waste of life even more poignant.
This was a broken man who wanted to inflict his broken on others instead of taking responsibility for it and working on trying to fix it. I guess that's what Personality Disorders to a larger extent do, and probably why i can sniff them at 50 paces and walk the other side of the street these days 😅

    Here for part two.
Rip to each one of the victims of this tragic night.
I looked a killer in the eye. Will bever forget it.
Lesley was like 10 weeks pregnant. They had tried for years to have a baby. She was the most beautiful human I had ever met.
Ross was my cousin. Yes he was a swindler but he did had a good heart and when he met Lesley, he changed for the better.
Our family have always been house removalist, but Ross was on his own and rode the coat tails of my grandfathers good name.
    Thank you for your story.

I'd add that many people aware of ongoing abuse don't report domestic violence because of the dual reason(s) that they fear for their own safety from the perpetrator and thus do not want to get involved.

I do remember that exact night, hearing over the radio that people all over the coast had been shot and the last was so close to where I lived as a 21 year old. People called the house mover "Smithy" back then. It was definitely not something that happened back then on the coast. Excellent podcast guys, thankyou 👍

I’ll never forget this night. I heard the gunshots from my mums house not too far away. I was 22yo and went to find out what was going on. I went to the top of Barnhill Rd within 3-5 min after it happened not 250 meters from the house and I’d arrived before any police. All was quiet then. What I didn’t know was there was a dead body on the road only a stones throw away and a house with people killed. For the next few years I walked past a dead body outline (like you see in the movies) on the top of Grosvenor Rd and Barnhill Rd every time I went to Terrigal for a surf. I never could get over the fact they never got rid of that body outline for years after.

Cops took so long to arrive at Nth Wyong. It was terrifying. Cops were asking neighbours to stand at the end of their driveways at the side of the highway to give statements… no one knew what was going on.

I was only 10 when this happened, but I remember it being on the radio befor school one morning. I was worried for my neighbours as thier last name was the same as one of the parties involved and they had in laws with another of names involved in this terrible incident. I never realised how close to my home it actually was (10 or 15 minute drive) and as an adult I am all to familiar with many of the locations mentioned. My sympathies to all who were affected by this event.

Why is not more focus and help offered and continually offered to those like "Mac" who have been born into a family where one of the parents is dis functional? Maybe now that we know how harmful dysfunctional parents cause harm to the children we can intervene and help those children learn to be better. Prayers 🙏 for all who live in such a life of sadness. God help us ❤

That had nothing to do with gun control, he had hidden guns. You can't control the fact that those that don't abide the legal fires arms use.
Can be place where the person flips out and pulls the trigger. Mostly it's gun control that's blamed for bad actors.
Thats unjust, knowing that its not the gun but the person who had decided and deceived the police into thinking he was unarmed.
The checks and the balances are better now, but not perfect either and also man is still in a broken state. The bad element is always with us and responsibility is with what we know of the people around us, yet only one pulls the trigger. Not usually the legal Firearms users, which take the backlash of any gun incidence.

    • @ladytammy6886
      @ladytammy6886 17 дней назад +1

To be fair it also begs the question if we had something like the US second amendment someone could have had a firearm to counter the threat. I think it’s a shame that good honest people can’t protect themselves their families their loved ones or even a complete stranger.
There are more good honest people than bad but who wants to confront a situation such as this with no means of equal force and no way of protecting themselves…
