I am from Korea and Ive Compared Phuket and Bali, for me Phuket or some Places in Thailand including Chiang Mai (I am getting bored there very fast) there are more Sex Attractions and Old White peoples comapares to Bali, in Bali there are so many young generation from around the World, Even from Asian Countries like Japan And China, and they are very creative peoples, Bali Probably lack in Infrastructures but the peoples are Amazing, not only The Local, but also the Tourist and Foreigners, even in South Korea we arent having kinda of this place like Bali (melting Pot), in Thailand or Vietnam i mostly seen Older generation, or just Backpackers, for me personally i dont mind about sidewalk, or beaches in changgu are awful because sometimes every week i travel with my friend from around the world in Bali to Explore Lombok, Gili Island or Komodo Island and having Great time for relaxing, since the beginning i am not expecting Bali or Changgu especially to be perfect but what i want is the place that make me busy and do so many stuff and Bali has That, Uluwatu, Ubud, Changgu, Kintamani, Gili Island, Lombok, all those place i can explore and i just wanna say every places are uniqe and way more Beautiful compare that you have seen in Thailand or Vietnam maybe, that is my Opinion i still like Bali withe their amazing Beach Club and villas
Hi Guys. In my opinion, having travelled to Phuket for quite a few years . Logisticly, Phuket has definate advantages as you have pointed out. You can bring up many points of difference between the two & Bali, unfortunately does come second in many cases. BUT, for me spending a lot of time in both, BALI, wins hands down for one very important reason. The Balinese People ," I LOVE" them & It will bring me back everytime. No competition. Thanks guys. See you tomorrow!!!.
Eating street food you are rolling the dice to get sick not unlessl you used to it. Bali still has a better vibe than phuket, and Bali has stuck to its values and doesn't encourage cannabis and sex tours like Thailand.😎😎😎🙏🙏🙏
I actually was talking to my friend who's never been to bali but thailand a dozen times..he claims thailand is awesome I claim bali is awesome..this was good information..property has gone up for sure in bali and becoming pricey in some places..but I think by what I saw the energy and vibe might be the same in both places..bali with property prices is turning into a millionaires island..can be a good thing to attract more of the wealthy to spend there..massive land and villa sales in jimbaran and ungasan areas as they are still cheaper than other areas..but not for long as land prices are rising due to popular land grabs there
Lived in Bali for three years, and now living in Phuket due to the recent price explosion in Bali. Pro Phuket: If you're not into surfing beaches are far better in Phuket. Internet and wifi is the best I've ever had. Almost everywhere 5g connection. And internet for your home 1000mb down and up for cheap. Big supermarkets like Tesco and macro, therfore easier to get your groceries. Much less traffic then Bali. Good shopping malls. Quite easy to obtain a non immigrant visa. No parking, entry fees on beaches unless you're going into the national park. Far better hospitals. Generally much cleaner then Bali. Cheap domestic flights. Cons Phuket: Nobody speaks acceptable English. (Every gojek driver speaks better English 😅 ) Police in Phuket is far worse then Bali. They are everywhere around the south and stop every non Thai person. (Driver license check. Full body search, Alcohol test). Depending where you live you can be stopped up to 3times a day. Eating out is quite expensive compared to Bali. (Western food) The people / tourists around here are generally a lot older then in Bali. Due to the communication issue (nobody speaks English) it's quite hard to find Thai friends. Taxi, Tuktuk they charge over 10$ Us for a 10min ride. (Use bolt or indriver) Pros Bali: Everyone speaks English. Amazing for surfing. Good and cheap restaurants. Good Community feeling. Less enforced rules. Easy to find local friends. Depending on which area you live good supermarkets. Generally more friendly people. (Might be due to better English communication). Easy language (indonesian not Bali language) to learn. Amazing food delivery apps. (Gojek,Grab,Shopee) Cheap ferries to other islands. Cons: Rubbish everywhere. Traffic Everyday changing visa policies (might be due to COVID, but it has been really annoying) Parking fees everywhere. Really high pricing for domestic flights. Overcrowded. Hope this helps you to decide
Phuket is cleaner and has different vistas and religion. I found many rude and aggressive people there, making for a stressful situation. Every trip we booked was impersonal and we felt herded like cattle. The food was awful. It was hotter and crowded everywhere, everyday. Bali today is as always, beautiful place, beautiful people.
That’s not true at all! I never met ANY rude people, especially locals in Phuket. I stayed in Patong, and loved it! I want to visit Bali having not been before, but if it’s cheaper to go to Phuket, I’d have no qualms going back versus Bali 👍🏾. Each place is different, ok so Bali might not be cheaper for food etc, whereas in Phuket it is. They’re both beautiful places, and will depend on what you want to do in either destination 👍🏾.
to be honest I enjoy Phuket because of nice beaches and night life but I love Bali for peacefulness and something special that I can put it in words. Phuket and Bali are places you must visit in life
Bali shopkeepers (not all of course) and taxi people at airport are very aggressive and pushy! Bali bouncers are more beefy and mean looking. Thailand has massive edge at this moment because of cannabis access and allowing unvaccinated tourists to enter the country! You have to be experienced and lucky to find many hidden gems in Indo. Great video comparing both locations.
Yes I agree, I really think Indonesia has to lift its game now that Thailand has become the Amsterdam of SE Asia & finished with the vax mandate. Thailand has moved on from this as well as Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore. When will Malaysia & Indo join their ranks ??
We go to both Bali and Thailand often, but it costs much more and is a longer flight to Thailand from Perth. We usually go to Bangkok, Phuket or Koh Samui. Have alao been ro Krabi and Koh Sok, Khao Lak. We love Karon and stay there often (Mandarava). The food - way better in Thailand. The hawkers - not nearly as aggressive in Thailand, one "no thanks" is usually enough. Beaches - love Karon, love Koh Samui beaches. BUT - we find the people in Bali much nicer. We quite often think Thai people want your tourist dollar but not you. We have seen some very rude Putin-ites in Phuket over many years. Perhaps some of the local people think of us tourists as all the same. Love Song Kran in Thailand and the vegetarian festival in Phuket. Thanks for showing us your take on things. The only thing Thailand hasn't got going for it is the people are not the wonderful Balinese.
I prefer to eat in small warungs. Have never had a problem with them as far as Bali belly goes. My problems are always when I eat at fancier places with western style foods. Not the Bakso carts but the smaller places like Warung Murah, they serve fantastic food and I don’t get Bali belly from them. It would be amazing if you guys did a video on some places like that. Like where to get the best and safest Nasi goreng or Padang food.
Great comparison. Having been to both, we love both for very different reasons. I don't know that we'd choose one over the other. Both have delicious food and beautiful beaches. Lots to do. Sights to see. And both are full of the nicest people you'll meet.
Thanks for today's vlog. I prefer Bali every time. My problem with Phuket (Thailand) was in 1998 that I got sick with diarrhoea' almost every other day. Not because the food was bad, but because I am Vegan and have an intolerance to anything animal. For example, if I ordered a vegetable salad, I got fish or oyster sauce on it because they didn't understand English well enough. And was too polite or too proud to ask someone else for help with the language. It almost never happens in Bali where I always make sure they have understood what I asked for. Have eaten Thai food in Bali and also in Sweden without problems. And so the culture and people are more interesting in Bali. If you travel north in Thailand to e.g. Chiang Mai, it's probably more down-to-earth living.
Great contrast between Bali and Phuket. I've been to both (now living in Bali!) And love them both for different reasons. While Bali prices have slightly increased and the Aussie dollar has lessened, it's still far more affordable for us to live here than in Oz. Thanks for another great vlog 👍
Bali is my soul country, spiritually. I guess if I am honest, it's the old Bali. Phuket, I enjoyed but did not feel the same relaxed, and calm feeling.
One thing you didn't mention was the interesting Balinese culture which Phuket doesn't have however there's no "street carvings" in Thailand. I've only been to Phuket once which was enough for me and my husband however after 18 trips to Bali I've really had enough. I don't like the fact that there are no secret places in Bali anymore thanks to Facebook and these places now have too many tourists. If it wasn't for the fact we're very close to a Balinese family we wouldn't bother going back. I've no interest in going to Phuket again but I'd love to go to Vietnam again. Thanks so much for posting this comparison video. PS: It's disappointing that more and more places in Bali are charging parking fees especially at the beach. It wasn't widespread years ago. We've been going to Bali since 1988 and have seen many changes both good and bad.
Both are appealing to me although I've never been to Phuket. Your video series has certainly awoken my interest in ever going there! Had Bali belly once, or maybe it was Jakarta belly, not sure where I contracted it hehehe
I am thinking to move to either Bali or phuket for a year to use it as a base to travel and explore the rest of the region,so having easy access to an airport is very important, I have an absolute maximum monthly budget of 2k for my husband and I. With that in mind what do you think is better?
went to patong back in 2012,first and last time, lazy people who couldn't be bothered to serve you at restaurants, the hotel etc everyday it was the same and on the last day we went to a posh restaurant and I had the worst steak in my life,to many things to mention here. we have been to bali several times over the years and the people are great and hotels. so it's BALI for us !!!! but we are all different ✌
Both a beautiful places. Agree, the beaches in Phuket are better than Bali. I do think the high end dining options are a lot better in Bali. As for ‘belly’, I’ve had the misfortune to have it both locations.😊
Indonesia has around 10,000 islands to explore, so it's not fair comparing to small country like Thailand (Really respect Indonesian people though, wish to be isolated islands like them and not surrounded by bitter, annoying commies). Vietnam is the next best thing and love the comparison between other countries, please do Vietnam next. And don't single out Thailand, we have had enough of being the target of youtubers who based in other ASEAN countries.
We have lived on both islands, also---> right now, within this time period is the Phuket Vegetarian Festival/we a 5-time attendee---Life here in Bali would be a bit better if we had a celebration like this--for Hindus to click into their Vedic heritage....alongside the Ubud food celebration, once a year
It seems that virtually everyone in Bali (and many places in Indonesia) knows a little English, whereas there are quite a few people in Phuket (and more so outside of Phuket) that speak zero English. They may speak other languages, but that's one thing that I noticed in my experience.
Bali and phuket are very touristy places. In bali depends on area. Some places the locals are the nicest people ever, but some places they want to earn your money (touts trying to sell you stuff). For malaysians, we like going to phuket because it is very nearby. Bali is too far away and costlier. Furthermore nature wise, we hv good nature, forest, marine life, waterfalls too. Why go so far?.
I heard that we could be charged to go on Kuta beach soon. I feel for the vendors and Hope people still hang out to watch the sunset. Adelaide has amazing beaches all free so this is quite shocking to have to pay. Travel broadens the mind and helps us see the good and bad in our own area and other places.
Bali belly is horrible. There are different symptoms you can get. Diarrhea is the nicest one. But you can also have bacteria in your stomach that make you feel sick all the time. So you cant enjoy any food and barely eat anything for weeks. In Kombination with the heat, you can easily collapse in that state, especially when you're on a hiking trip.
Bali been twice and Phuket 3 times. Phuket wins, prettier, no aggressive sales people, bigger than Bali, better dentists, resort rooms are bigger, Bangla rd (nothing like it in Phuket). Bali I see has huge beach clubs which I haven’t seen in Phuket - maybe some smaller ones. Bali much shorter trip from the airport thank Phuket to the resorts. Phuket flight a lot longer than to Bali from Australia. Phuket still wins
The reason He think is Phuket bigger maybe because from airport to busy area which is Patong Beach took one hour ride compare to Airport Bali to Kuta area which probably only 20 mnts if there is traffic smooth.
many tourists still think Bali is just Kuta. some big resort in Nusa Dua (no aggressive sales) with better beaches than Kuta. Search : "Nusa Dua drone" for overview.
A lot of butthurt Indonesian in the comment section lol, I'm Thai and don't have problem if people choose Bali over Phuket it's just their preference. Me myself would love to go to Bali one day if i had a chance
5🪃🪃🪃🪃🪃vlog good summary of 2 tourist destinations Phuket stall holders not as aggressive and greedy as the Bali stall holders can buy T shirts in Australia for 5 Dollars on special why pay 200,000rp from a stall in Bali also a note no VOA In Phuket or Bangkok enjoy both destinations regards Dave
