This is a really helpful video! My mom was interested in opening an etsy shop for physical art but was turned off by their policies around commission and shipping. Im interested in opening a shop for digital art. Does etsy take comission for products sold (other than the 0.20 to list), and if so how much?
I believe there is a 5% fee of whatever the cost of the item is as well as the .20c fee. It’s not a whole lot, and I’ve honestly been fine with Etsy taking like 40c out of a $5 sale. its not ideal, but it’s nice to have a good selling platform
@@winterstarcosplay 5% doesn't sound too bad. I also thought about making a website since I have some web design experience, but for me the appeal of etsy is most people know about it already. Whereas my own website Im not sure how I would market that. Thanks for your feedback!
@@kiverson794 Having a shop on a platform like Etsy is nice because you get the whole audience through Etsy, but having your own website is nice for customizable purposes, and also so you can control everything about it. I currently have an Etsy shop and a website, and I just link to my Etsy shop from my site. Social media and email lists are good for marketing your website, too
