- On the evening of December 23rd 1881, three teenagers, alone in a farmhouse in Ashland Kentucky, were savagely murdered and the house set afire to cover the crime. What followed would be an investigation, trials, a lynching, and a massacre of Ashland citizens by state militia, in this fascinating and tragic series of events.
My guest is Joe Castle, author of "The Ashland Tragedy: Murder, a Mob & a Militia in Kentucky". More information about his book can be found here: theashlandtrag... - Видеоклипы
I find your podcasts interesting, intriguing but most of all educational. So well narrated by the original story tellers without interruption until it's needed. I just love them. Thank you so much for sharing.
Nice of you to say!
Totally agree. Professional.
This is not a story for school kids to read but its a good story for adults
Ditto
Fascinating! It seems like every town has a secret story worth learning about. Thank you! We usually go to Poags landing days in Ashland. It will have all new meaning to go now.
So horrible ... those poor little kids 😭
The three men who were hung, had that coming, especially targeting the Gibson family who had been through some rough time's. Who does a crime like this on a holiday, sociopaths. I don't celebrate pagan holidays, because Jesus was not born in december, but many people do recognize this as his birth, even though it was more like when he was conceived. I feel bad for the families who were changed by such a heinous crime. God bless everyone, and nice interview Eric, you always do a good job of keeping everyone on track, and always ask good questions.
I try my best, thank you!
I live in greenup KY. Never heard of this 😮
I’m a resident of Ashland Kentucky

I have a cousin in Ashland. I wonder if he knows about this.
These evil men may have left this physical world long ago, but they will suffer the eternal consequences of their murderous actions... Christ stated: "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell". Matthew 10:28
i dont find any of this education !!!
Educational, dipstick
You do not find any of this educational???
Hopefully, the author's writing is better than his vocal-story-telling. Intriguing case non-the-less. Not sure why, but my gut says raping the girls was *not* the motive.
I agree, the author sounds bored by his own book.
