  • Of all mental health conditions, schizophrenia is one of the least understood and least recognised in Singapore. Sensational news headlines can reinforce the stereotype that people living with the condition are violent and a danger to others. In this episode of Mindful Dialogues, author Margaret Ong shares her experience of learning how to cope with becoming the primary caregiver to her husband with schizophrenia. Together with Dr Swapna Verma and host Lee Kai Yi, the trio discusses ways in which the media influences public perception of mental illness, and how we can play a part in educating and instilling hope in those around us.
