Hmm apparently my one is still normal, got it fitted professionally. I also have a friend who owns these and his car also has only one brake light on at each side when idle. But pressing the brake definitely lights up two on both sides.
you can but you have to do the conversion for the bumper and hood, the bumper crash bar and upper support need to be modified and also the latch extended.

I have the same as jude, Only one light on each side. But now that I seen how two look I might have to do something about that.
