Naa man, i disagree. He can do so much without Lip Rolls.
His "Shout out to Amit" beat, Two beats one mouth and similar beats using that Cough Snare, his Tongue bass stuff, Inward Zipper routine and a massive variety of technical beats he can do. There are videos of him doing freestyle technicality and he is certainly capable in that sense too.
In fact, he didn't even do Lip Rolls in his first round of this video until right at the end.

There's such a difference watching american beatbox championships and european. I noticed that the contestants in europe cheer for their opponent. This on the other hand is a total twist o.O They're bashing each other up on stage doing a variaty of gestures and commenting on the other :/ Be nice, kids!

its just the thickness of the lips and practice. thick = deeper, thin = higher
I just heard her live perform a few times (2018) and she hits those low basses at least nowadays. Maybe because she was much more relaxed, I have no clue.

See, some of y'all are saying that Kaila didn't deserve to be in this position. However, you're justifying that by saying she's not as good a beatboxer as her opponent(s), but not by the battle specifically. She may not be the better beatboxer(however being a "better beatboxer" is a whole other thing), but she did win those battles. If you think otherwise, go talk to those judges.

honestly kaila's beats were more complex. I think people get emotionally wound up by the flare of napoms lip rolls but once you see past them...
Finaly some sence, love napoms stuff but kaila had some really technical patterns going on, and she's making music and thats more important than just technique

got asmr tingles from napom's bass at about 6 minutes in. he deserved the win!
This battle is ridiculous. NaPom's bass is outrageous, and he did some very technically ambitious beats, and pulled them off smoothly, so it's not like I don't get how he won... But Kaila KILLED too. Her first round is still one of my all-time favorites, and she went super-hard in the second. I prefer NaPom's performance against Kenny Urban at BOT5thE, but this was still intense. It's a toss-up, IMO, and he didn't deserve a unanimous vote. Kaila's first round was my fav, but I can see why he won

Two contrasts battling. I love NaPoM's low liproll bass and I love Kaila's Lip Oscillation. I love how he doesn't stop and I love her breaks.
NaPoM went low and awesome but didn't add that extra kick drum to complete the beat until like his third loop or repetition. Which made that drop sound weird and off beat.
I am also not a fan of humming which Kaila does...

Yeah i'm done with the American Championships, its a fucking joke. Congratulations NaPoM you deserve the title but you really could have been up against someone who had a lot more skill. NaPoM was the best in this entire competition but it was a big slap in the face to make him take the title with a battle like this. Kaila does beats that almost any beatboxer can do, she is basic nothing more. She was supposed to be taken out the first round. The day you stop allowing girls inside of the championships(And letting them get this far doing basic beats) is the day ill enter to fuck some shit up.

I agree. Without doubt these have skill but this is a dreadful final. If I'm honest Kaila showed more versatility and technique and therefore should have won. I think the American beatboxing scene still needs work if it wants to reach the European level, they certainly have the talent. Though NaPoM in this final used very simple techniques in terms of a professional beatboxer. Beatbox battles aren't about 'music' at all, beatboxing is an art by all means but when you battle you use good rhythm, technique, versatility, and skill to win, you certainly don't use a track or two taking up one round after another especially when sounding the same as your previous round. Beatboxing as 'music' is for outside of battles, though a few lines or few seconds of a tune from a song may be implemented into their battle now and again. For professional beatboxers the majority of techniques used in this particular video are second or third grade and the versatility from NaPoM was quite shocking. I particularly didn't like it when he said "Two beats, one mouth"... yeah two beats one mouth is childsplay for most professional beatboxers (he should have pushed it even further, its a final!)... If NaPoM goes to the World Championship using techniques like that he'll loose to most of the European beatboxers who've also qualified for the World Championship........ On another note lets prey that Reeps One from England and Alem from France enter the competition because they simply are untouchable for different reasons. Especially Reeps One, he's not known as the godfather of beatbox for nothing. He's the most respected beatboxer in the world, he's revolutionized beatboxing and increased it's popularity 10 fold. Beatbox family for life.

See a lot of people writing off Kaila and people saying Kenny should have been in the final, just because she isn't as technique-based as other artists. People aren't respecting her musicality to the extent that it should be, she is very old school in style and I think its important to respect the paths and influences beatboxing has taken, so kudos for the judges for putting her in the final.
uhh sorry to inform you but Kaila said it herself that Kenny should have been in the finals because initially Rahzel wasn't supposed to be a judge since Rahzel was only supposed to watch but things happened so yeah.
Maybe so. What I'm saying is that I can see justified reasons for her having gone through to the final, she's far more musically oriented than Kenny, or so I believe. I'm not detracting from Kenny, he's an amazing beatboxer but sometimes too much technique blurs the line between sound and music, it can be hard to listen to. I still think there's reason for her to go through, and that's what my comment was about I suppose, how beatboxers are fussing over decisions and it ruins the fun for everyone else. It's supposed to be about the music and atmosphere. Beatboxing is at a stage now where people get sand in their vaginas over misjudged decisions etc, and in some cases they end up actually becoming hostile against someone who they believe shouldn't have got certain decisions their way. Which is stupid, and an absolute buzzkill. And beatboxing started out like that and needs to stay that way -fun fun fun :D
