Just finding this video, Nicola, and after a disaster of a job by my local Michael’s store I will be using your techniques to stretch my next framing project myself. Thank you for all you do and your inspiration! Merry Christmas!
This tutorial is so helpful. I have been so intimidated by this process. I watched your video, gathered my supplies and took my time. I am so pleased with the results and thankful that your instructions gave me the confidence to frame my own work.
I absolutely love your new tutorial videos. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with everyone. I researched how to do the pin stitch, in the past, but I couldn’t ever get it quite right. After watching your pin stitch video, I am now enjoying them and it makes my back even neater. Watching this tutorial on stretching and lacing helped me to believe I can do it and add a new skill. I just finished a large and time consuming piece and was trying to decide how to finish it. I now feel confident that with your tutelage I can stretch and lace it and frame it for display. You are doing a great job with your tutorial videos: they are clear in appearance and in instruction, and they are to the point, yet have enough information to encourage doing it oneself. I look forward to many more.
Thank you for another clear and precise video on improving our sampler Techniques, Nicola. I appreciate your sharing your great wealth of stitching knowledge with me and other stitchers. Even though I am familiar with lacing, it is always good to see how others do it and how we can improve by watching others.😊
Thank you for this tutorial. It was extremely helpful. I cannot wait to try lacing your way. I think I will be more successful. I appreciate your hard work helping teach us more about all areas in needlework. Have a blessed day. ❤
Thank you so much for this tutorial - it has been so helpful! I have both pinned and/or laced my projects in the past, however, learned some new tips, and new knots! Thank you!!
Thank you for this tutorial, Nicola. I learned to lace years ago, but the method was slightly different. I have only been pinning my pieces, but am definitely tempted to lace using the method you demonstrated. Thank you! This was well done and very helpful.
This is fabulous. Thank you so much Nicola. I know how to lace but have never really understood how to pin and stretch the stitched piece. Thank you for a very clear tutorial.
Excellent lacing tutorial, good to see I have been-doing this right for many years now. Have learned a few more tricksI did not do and thank you for that Nicola. The pins are a new one for me and would have saved me a lot of time 🤓
Thank you so much for sharing this, Nicola! I have a few that I’ve finished that I’ve just kept on hangers as I’m hesitant to do the lacing. I will try this during the Christmas holiday. Take care!
Thank you for this wonderful instructional video on lacing! I tried lacing a project a couple months ago and was disappointed with the results. After viewing your video I realized my mistakes. I shall do better on my next project. Again thank you for this most informative tutorial.
I have been searching for a tutorial on this subject as I wanted to give it a try and yours is perfect! I plan to do this on a small sampler that I have almost finished. Thank You Nicola this was very helpful.
Perfect timing! I have 3 frames that are almost made and ready for staining. And then lacing will be the next step! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. For as much as I love to stitch, i can't afford to have every piece professionally framed and laced and I don't trust box store framers to do it correctly, even though I know some may be good at it. Thanks again. I can't wait to get lacing!
Thank you Nicola, very helpful. I wanted to frame my own projects but do not feel confident enough yet. Now I believe I can give it a ago after watching your tutorial🎉❤💐
Such a fabulous video! I have laced a few things, but I was fumbling along, guessing if I was doing it well enough. Next time, I will be much more confident, thanks to you!
Thank you so much for your detailed video. I feel that I now have the confidence to lace my work. I know it will take much longer with the first project, but I thank you for your encouraging words. You are a great teacher!
WOW! This was amazing, and I learned a few more tricks to lacing my own! Thank you so, so much for this video and your dedicated time! You are wonderful ❤
Wonderful information, clear and easy to follow. So appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Like your prior video you've given me confidence to lace my work. Thank you.
Have you thought about doing a tutorial video on how to cut and measure linen? I know this seems like something super easy, but it is something I struggle doing and I would love a tutorial on how to do it.
Thank you for a great tutorial with excellent tips! One question, do you press your piece prior to lacing. I stitch in hand so my pieces can be quite wrinkly. Thanks again!
This is how I was taught as well. It is the best way I think. Must be careful not to stretch too tight but so far I have not had any problems with my work.
Thanks for doing this video Nicola! Even though I’ve been doing my own framing for many years, I’m always looking for tips and pointers to improve on my framing. And did anyone else notice the end sampler?😉❤️. Sneaky, sneak peek!😊
Thank you for this video, I'm a long way off finishing my stitching in this way, but I'll know how to do it when it comes to it!! I have a request, I was wondering if there might be a chance you could do a video on Au Ver a Soie. I am really interested in this thread for cross stitch, but being a newbie still I'm ever so confused about it!! Also do you use Sulky, if so what would you recommend for weight for cross stitching!!?? I really want to start using other cross stitch threads but I've no idea where to start!! Samantha xx
Thanks Nicola, very clear and easy to follow. I notice you laid the linen on the board but did not pull it tightly across to actually stretch it , apart from tightly stitched areas. Have I got this right? I have struggled to pull my piece tightly enough before pinning to avoid wrinkles
Great tutorial Nicola…Thank you …. Now how about the lovely Sampler… The can only see Catherine..is this available?? I love her… the verse is so powerful…. Thanks again 🇺🇸 Ohio 😊
Thank you so much. Question: I didn't get how you did the measurements. I thought the half cm should be detracted but you added it. Which made me think: I will see it when she frames it but that part wasn't shown. If you add the half cm to both sides the board won't be able to fall into the frame? Besides that, it was very clear!
Thank you very much Nicola for such a comprehensive tutorial. Hope to put your tips into practice soon. Would you consider making a video on stitching 1over 1 ? Also perhaps in your next video you could give some advice on how to best personalise a sampler whilst honouring the girl who stitched it originally? I have made some small changes to the sampler I am stitching, such as spacing and verse, changed colours up a bit. And where the girl stitched her name I plan to stitch my initials but not sure how I could get her's in to say that my sampler is based on her's. Also how do you feel about such adaptations? Many thanks 🌷

Thank you for this tutorial, it was very helpful!
So helpful Nicola - thank you indeed! Do you have a shop for the 3mm board you recommend? :)
Very helpful,thank you.
Thank you Nicola
Thank you for a great tutorial with excellent tips! One question, do you press your piece prior to lacing. I stitch in hand so my pieces can be quite wrinkly. Thanks again!
Hello - I do not press as my work is normally crease free. I am always wary of using an ion on my work.
This is how I was taught as well. It is the best way I think. Must be careful not to stretch too tight but so far I have not had any problems with my work.
Thankyou for sharing how to lace the needle work
Thank you very much❤
Thank you! Now I know how!
Thanks for doing this video Nicola! Even though I’ve been doing my own framing for many years, I’m always looking for tips and pointers to improve on my framing. And did anyone else notice the end sampler?😉❤️. Sneaky, sneak peek!😊

Hello Barbara - the linen is stretched all over. I applied tensions gradually and evenly as I pinned it
Great tutorial Nicola…Thank you ….
Now how about the lovely Sampler… The can only see Catherine..is this available?? I love her… the verse is so powerful….
Thanks again
🇺🇸 Ohio 😊
EXCELLENT!! Thank you!
Thank you!
I’m glad for your demonstration! I thought it had to be really tightened and stretched. What charts did you demonstrate on?
Thank you so much. Question: I didn't get how you did the measurements. I thought the half cm should be detracted but you added it. Which made me think: I will see it when she frames it but that part wasn't shown. If you add the half cm to both sides the board won't be able to fall into the frame?
Besides that, it was very clear!
1.5cms sits under the frame, I want 0.5cms between the frame and the stitching, therefore a total of 2 cms needs to be added to each side.
Thank you very much Nicola for such a comprehensive tutorial. Hope to put your tips into practice soon.
