I just bought a beautiful, 3yr old purebred paso fino mare at a local horse auction! She does the fino gait so beautifully, even in the pasture! Cant believe i got her from a small local auction! She is a beautiful bay!
Beautiful video! You can really feel the admiration, love and respect for these gorgeous horses! I might get a Paso fino as a second horse. My first ist also a stunner, he is a hispanic arabian- half andalusian, half arabian. Great personality and beauty!
My wife and I rescued a paso in SWPA. We wish we could find some one to ride him. I never thought I would love a horse, but I do love animals. He is one of my best friends
We use to live in SWPA. There is a Paso Fino Farm near Lewisburg in central PA called Feather Hill Stables that raises, trains and competes in endurance riding, they can be found on Google or Facebook.
I don't think my lousy knee would complain about that gait at all! Looks to be no bounce, just a vibration that would keep it from locking up on me, most likely!
For those that can't take the concussion of a diagonally gaited horse, we see a lot of migration to the Paso Fino and the Peruvian Paso, and gaited breeds in general. It is a great option for those who don't wish to give up riding altogether.
I was a co-owner of a Paso Fino years ago. The first time that I ever rode him, I fell in love with him. Smoothest ride I have ever had. He would not get his feet wet and I enjoyed trail riding. Even when we came to a little water trickle down the side of mountain, it was a real fight with him. Because I couldn't ever break him from that, I gave up my part ownership and bought a Tennessee Walker, which is another smooth ride.
A lot of Paso Fino video leans towards the intense, rapid gait with not a lot of forward motion, but you may want to check out another production from the past on Feather Hill Paso Fino's in Pennsylvania, where they breed for athletic endurance horses, and yes, they can run. Enjoy! studio.ruclips.net/user/videoWMcIxk3q-m4/edit
I trail ride or use too years ago and I raised TW horses just a few . Was working to much and got out because I didn’t have time. You have very nice horses.
Yeah they really know what they're doing look at the riding positions look, at those huge long painful shank bits, look at how they keep the horse's head up high with that pain bit.
Paso finos have a tendency to hold their head like that. Those bits are usually required for showing, doesn’t mean they had to use them in this video but still. They were riding the horses a lot gentler than I’ve seen in other Paso Fino shows. Also the fino gait, the one that was showcased when riding, is highly collected.
That's their natural carriage. Some people use a tie down to keep their head a little lower. They're not a plow horse like the so-called quarter horses, which are more suited to pulling a middle buster than carrying a rider
Thank you, so helpful and inspirational as I'm contemplating buying a Paso mare after being exposed to the "Paso smile" in my barn, where I ride my Dutch Warm Blood. So... this is crazy for me to contemplate, but the sweet mare with big Brio has touched my heart & spirit.. totally smitten.
For a completely different look at the Paso Fino, we invite you to watch our Feather Hill Paso Fino episode, where they use the horses for endurance riding. Most people see them going over sound boards, but they can do so much more as shown in this other episode. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/WMcIxk3q-m4/видео.html
Before I Bought my first horse who isn’t a Paso Fino but a 15.3 HH Grey Appendix Mare, I Rode Paso Finos for 3-4 years before. I love the Paso Fino. We just recently bought a 13 Acer farm in Tennessee so if anyone has any idea on where I might be able to buy a PasoFino? I need one. So my horse doesn’t feel so alone in the pasture. And so I can finally own my Dream horse.
I LIVE IN PUERTO RICO THEY NICE HORSE BUT I CANT USE TO THEM TO ME THEY SLOW WITH THE GAIT I LOVE QUARTER HORSE MORE PLUS MOST OF THESE HORSE ARE SMALL GOOD FOR LIGHT RIDERS
I agree that some people push pasos too hard when riding them, but the gait is actually very natural to them. I have a paso i ride sometimes, and she quite naturally goes into the pitter patter gait. They can’t really “trot” the way non-gaited horses do. Or if they can, I’ve never seen my girl do it! LOL. Rather they have that fast gait thats faster than a trot but slower than a canter. It looks odd, but it really is their natural stride.
As an professional rider and coachman I can't understand this. Why ? What will you do, - ride a comfortable moving forward horse or a boiled nervous snoring drummer boy (min. 7.43) ? Decorated with highly speeches, which every owners of every kind of horses have stacked in warehouses?
The paso fino is originally from Puerto Rico and the video said the conquistadors named it paso fino but that is not historically correct. It was not untill the 1860’s in Puerto Rico when the name paso fino was given.
If the horses are not moving in the paddock like this ??? How is it natural ??? It seems so abnormal so stressful maybe the rider is comfortable but the horse is working overtime ? 😢
I would agree that a great deal of energy is expended with little forward motion, but the gait to the culture is very important. Check out our episode on Feather Hill Paso Finos, who use their horses for endurance riding. It may be the first time you have seen Paso Fino's running under saddle. Check it out: ruclips.net/video/WMcIxk3q-m4/видео.html

Thank goodness my Paso wasn't a Fino horse. I would have been left behind in the dust. The did an ultra smooth Corto and won prizes as well.

Lovely horses but they look very stressed and anxious when forced into the pitter patter gait.
Barbara Green the Pitter patter gait you speak of comes natural to the horse. They sweat and drool just like humans when exercising
I agree that some people push pasos too hard when riding them, but the gait is actually very natural to them. I have a paso i ride sometimes, and she quite naturally goes into the pitter patter gait. They are born with that gait. It's refined for show as with any other breed. Also as with other breeds, there are unscrupulous trainers and owners
It's not forced at all. I have photos and video of my 3 day old foal doing the natural Paso gait next to his dam in the pasture.
Paso Finos are hot bloods. They are not dull.
I dream of owning a Paso pleasure horse
