Caricom is so interesting! It’s so multicultural where there are no gaps in the maps. I see the many opportunities and the possibilities! Within the Regional Organisations and the AU. Where Caricom is the benefit for the AU.
Caricom is a very serious relationship between countries, but each country has a different total amount of vested funds and time. The various countries see Caricom in different ways. Guyana is about to become the richest nation in the caribbean due to oil. The Caricom headquarters are there, but the ECD bank is based in St. Kitts, also some official offices for Jamaica and a lot of the caribbean are based in D.R. Greneda sometimes runs out of water. The genral consensus on Jamaica is that every single politician is corrupt. The only sensible leader seems to be leading a country that is leaning on totaliarism. The safest island is safe because very people live in it. They have many problems that they need to work on inside of their country before they go out helping other countries do extra things. Except the help in Haiti, that is a fellow country going to ruins for no reason. Also, Jamaica is doing the most because hundreds of immigrants from Haiti are landing in the shores of Jamaica. The government is concerned. So is the US. Hense the "HELP". All in all, it all doesn't make sense while we idiot citizens have to continue to pay the taxes they waste and not say anything... or die!
Although i am borned guyanese and hold a guyanese and canadian passports i cannot stay more than 6 months in all Caribbean countries except my borned country of guyana unless i become a permant residence via immigration law of those countries.

Easier said than done. The EU consist of former and current imperialist nations that have a large leg up that caricom doesn’t have . That being said it could start merging some also updating others. Also and sad to say some of the large ones with soft powers and strategic locations like mine (Jamaica) hasn’t really played a part and Sadly the government has been moving in this weird libertarian nationalistic approach that’s fucking stupid.it’s like we forget collective bargaining is a great thing to have
@@drehgonden1103 good point indeed, but caricom doesn't benefit Jamaica as much as we think. Based on opinions and surveys in that country..many countries even at issue with jamaicans coming in their country...Jamaica and Trinidad, especially Jamaica buys most of caricoms products and it's not the same for others. So caricom as good intentions but it surely needs an overhaul before it can be taken more serious about integration!
If you get your Caricom skills certificate do you actually have to have the skill or can you just get the certificate to stay in the country. Another thing for each Caribbean country, do you need the skills certificate or if you get one, you can travel and live in all the Caribbean countries with that one certificate.
I believe after the cert, you have to work, and each nation has their industries that require help. Look at who needs what, and look at why and how competitive it is because even as caricom you are a national pf a different "state" perhaps.

In the case of the Dominican Republic, we put an request to CARICOM to attain full membership status back in the 90s, that request was left unanswered. When Danilo Medina was president, the former minister reminded CARICOM leaders that DR was still interested in being a full member of CARICOM, and once again put In another request for full membership. We even had some support from Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago to be a full member when Danilo Medina was president. But due to the crackdown on illegal immigration about seven years ago, our request was suspended. So in our observation, it just seems that CARICOM doesn't want DR. I dont know about Puerto Rico and Cuba, perhaps a Puerto Rican or Cuban can explain to you their situation.
CARICOM is essentially the Commonwealth Caribbean (West Indies)+. Culturally most of CARICOM is former British colonies but Suriname got in because it's geographically close to Guyana and also shares some similarities with the West Indies. Haiti is the odd one out here lacking nearly any similarity with most of the region, and DR would be even more of an odd one out. I'd reckon the reason why Haiti was admitted was ideological in nature, but it is really the thing that complicates a lot of CARICOM developments unfortunately
and what has Haitians been doing for them selves apart from killing each other including a president....when has Haiti ever helped the rest of us? or stepped up to the plate?..maybe you can't read or just forgot but here some old and new news you can google 100's of more cases... If Dominican Republic has it bad with illegal immigration, just wait til CARICOM passports start being issued at Haitian embassies. Dominican Republic is the only country who seems to care about Haiti. The EU is, in many ways, actively trying to destroy Europe and the European identity.
