If anyone is wondering about the lyrics - here they are: "Раде, Раде, бело Раде, що си чакала тъй да да рониш сълзи, рониш..." - which is in Bulgarian and can be translated: "Rada, Rada, white Rada, why have you been waiting, only to shred tears, to cry" I don't know what is the story behind the song but we (Bulgarians) have a novel "Under the Yoke" depicting events during the Ottoman yoke which is war time. One of the characters is named Rada (a popular female name).
Sanskrit is a language of ancient India with a 3,500 year history, and is the oldest Indo-European language still spoken. Vedic Sanskrit is believed to be the closest to the Proto-Indo-European language.Bulgarians are descendants of the Ancient Cimmerians.
When I listen to Rada I always imagine the mighty bulgarian mountains, the history and all the people those mountains have seen. And I come to miss my Bulgaria even more
@@sicsempertyrannisvi4107 Indeed. They created 2 empires that combined lasted for 500 years, spread christianity and cyrillic to the rest of the slavs Not small achievements by the Bulgarians, for sure

@Gergana K The melody is certainly not from the Bulgarian music. Epic music has its origins in classical music, which originated in the German-speaking world.
Our oppression is heavy. Our backs, nearly broken. Our hope, nearly dead. It is enough. It is too much, and now, they have gone too far. I am not broken. I am not dead. They've torn out my heart. They know not what they've done, for without my heart, I can show them no mercy.
Thank you Thomas Bergersen for showing the world the richness and beauty of the bulgarian voice with such deep and compelling track with extraordinary spirit. Bulgarian and proud! :)
This is my favorite from Illusions. I keep comming back here once in a while. Orchestrial energy unleashed! Incomparably better than most songs with over mil. likes. But this kind of music is best enjoyed alone

I noticed that this song's bassline is very reminiscent of Steve Jablonsky's "Scorponok" in the Transformers score. Of course he could have been inspired by the Bulgarian cho0n "Rada." Just my observation. If you compare the two, I'm referring to the bassline on this song starting @ 1:40.
I am a huge fan of Thomas Bergersen, yet I wonder if he will be able to create another album with that many masterpieces in the future: Ocean Princess, Immortal, Rada, Sonera, A Place in Heaven, Merchant Prince are the bests for me, but even the other would have been in my favorites if this album wasn't so excellent.
Found another great piece of TFSH works, the string symphony with Tibet like vocal. Very good and match. Collected into my YT library........Who cares how old it was, still my favorite forever........................STF................................
A bit odd imagination. Having in mind vocals are original Slavic folklore that had no pirates. Rada is usually nickname for male Radomir or female Radmila in Slavic culture. Most probably Bulgarian lyrics and vocal.
Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there;I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft starlight at night.

That's really uplifting

For non-bulgarians - RADA is a female name, also the name is related with goddess one.The pronunciation through english language is: "rah-da"!
In Hinduism rahda is the wife of Lord Krishna.
+aniruddha rao Rada as in radar !
and the correct spelling for what you are saying is radha not rahda
im half bulgarian :)
I have always been wondering, Thomas is from.Norway but in most of his songs, you can find Bulgarian folk sounds....

It seems that the Bulgars had a large migration to the place they are now, similar to the Huns (Hungary)

Nice sound... and great respect for the Bulgarian folklore music!
Huh! Racist or Faschist bulgarian, is it? Maybe.
This is how our folklore songs sound. This is what was and is still sang in Bulgaria. The voices, the songs... PROUD BULGARIAN!
+GirlSexyThe I doubt it has this epic melody.
+kamikazeshocki indeed but when it was made it there was no Epic Music but it was made for those who were willing to fight against islam and ottoman empire
+GirlSexyThe The sad part about this song is that she uses Turkish word "джанъм" ... :\\\ Very frustrating.

The strings are so dynamic, driving, intense and her voice reminds me of a prayer. I love it💞💞💞
I am happy to hear this beautiful Bulgarian voice in the music.
I don't know why someone dislike it... What a beautiful composition!
Because it's not his music... stolen from Bulgaria folklore
He is not stealing but spreading the glory!
@Gergana K The melody is certainly not from the Bulgarian music. Epic music has its origins in classical music, which originated in the German-speaking world.

Don’t embarrass yourself by talking nonsense. The song is Bulgarian. I can understand each and every single word.

Beautiful music. There is not one song from Two Steps From Hell I can not love, also from Thomas Bergenson. Fantastic!
All I could see was an entire string section, bows madly bouncing off the strings, IN PERFECT SYNC!
