@@kairanelle1380 hello, Gosia Berendt. I never thought of Bella that way. But I would like to hear what makes her a great character to you. Do you mind giving an example? Thank you, and have a nice day.
@Steph C Why should she not be considered a strong female just because she loves unconditionally? And she jumped off a cliff to see Edward, yes. Did she do it just because of that? No. She feels lost in her world, doesn't feel like she belongs. Because of Edward she finds where she belong, a world where she doesn't feel like she's stumbling through life anymore. So when she loses him, appart from losing the person she thought would be with her for the rest of her life, she loses her whole world again. She goes back to feeling like she doesn't belong.
@@steph2994 it's not even just Edward though (in reference to her cliff diving). She lost her best friend when Alice left too. It's like what she said here "This wasn't a choice between you and Jacob. This was a choice between who I should be and who I am. I've always felt out of step... I've never felt normal. I don't wanna be. I've faced death, and loss, and pain in your world, but I've also never felt stronger... like more real, more myself. Because it's my world too." i definitely agree that tom felton has a huge influence on how we think of draco and he really is mostly a bully in the books, but i think books 6&7 definitely give him more depth and warrant a redemption arc lmao it's totally not unpopular to dislike cassie or john XD
Honestly I think I base him warranting a redemption arc purely based on him being a kid raised by an evil man (I don't think Narcissa is inherently evil) but he was a kid in a warzone, so I felt like he deserved one. Tom Felton definitely made me more sympathetic though lol

I love Twilight because of the nostalgia. I even, unashamedly, have a Twilight tattoo, but even 18-year-Old me would have told you that Bella is a weak character. That’s why I liked the books at the time. I felt like it was an accurate representation of what being a teenager “in love” feels like: bloody miserable.
Hey, I am over half a decade past the time I first read the books as a teenager and I still have a huge soft spot for them. And I still like Edward. How's that for unpopular? xD
Maddie Lobdell she also loved Books. And she took care of her parents, often feeling like she was more the mother than her mom was. She had personalities and hobbies. But she was like 16 and in a new place she hated with no friends, then her life became a mess of vampires and werewolves. She knew what she wanted. Many people have goals of raising a family. I think people are too harsh on Bella’s character.
@@ashthebookbakery1785 Yup! Tho I personally could do without the "let us marry off the 19 year old and give her a baby" storyline. I still like Bella tho! I always read her as her own person. And I did not think she was bland. The books were cheesy and boy-crazy... but like? They were meant to be? It was a fantasy romance novel? Twilight did cheesy justice. Breaking Dawn was a struggle for me - I did not like it and where it took the story at all (the marriage + kids part). But I still love the characters.
Arunima Tiwari Agree on Breaking dawn! That book disappointed me. I remember when It got spoiled online pre-release and I thought it was fake cause that storyline was ridiculous. But yeah. It was supposed to be a cheesy vampire romance. It did its job. haha. And book Bella wasnt that bad. But Movie bella kind of ruined it for me. Yes Bella isnt an arrogant “I dont need anyone and can beat up everyone” female character like is popular in YA today but I thought she was a realistic love struck 16 year old girl. Sorry but most teens dont have strong personalities or know what they want in life in my opinion. Some due (or think they do) but She was pretty realistic for many teens I grew up with. lol.
@@ashthebookbakery1785 *WARNING!* A ridiculously long rant lies ahead, coming from nowhere and headed towards no sane direction. Proceed at your own risk. I feel like a lot of Twilight got twisted around to make the whole thing look bad. Extremely terrible. But it wasn't really that bad? It is really just another case of a mediocre piece of media getting way too popular resulting in backlash against it which is similarly passionate. That and people just cannot tolerate young women's interests in entertainment when it is cheesy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Like you can argue up and down about how damaging the depiction of depression is in New Moon. That it is too extreme and Bella is too stupid. But kids are stupid lmao. And the way she copes with her depression by doing dangerous things is not depicted as a positive! Infact, for me the portrayal of sadness was so real in New Moon that I could never even properly read the chapters where she was depressed. It was just too real. I wish people back then talked about the actual damaging features of the books that I could not spot as a non-American. About how racist Meyer was, in appropriating and twisting the culture of the tribe she put her werewolf characters in. Or how the fact that Jasper was a Confederate soldier is discussed but slavery is never brought up? Criticism of Edward as a romantic lead is valid to me. But again, I always read him as a caricature (possessive, wants to take care of her in every way possible, is completely devoted to her to the point of lunacy - like every other dude in a Mills and Boons novel lmao) and did not take him as a guide of "My Boyfriend Must Be This". Give women some credit. I liked my romances creepy and obsessive, still do tbh, but I can also differentiate between fiction and reality. Ooh! And I do wish she had given Jacob an actual character arc and not made him violate Bella's consent just to make out with her. Twice! We have literally no mainstream native americans characters who are well known in media. Why did she do him like that... Infact everything about the werewolf clan in Breaking Dawn is ludicrous to me. Anyway. I now cope by going through headcanons Twilight fans on Tumblr come up with. The headcanons are hella gay and healthy and funny. They flesh out the frankly very interesting characters Meyer gave us (but did not do much with). You should check them out if you haven't. Okay. Rant over.
@@oof-rr5nf Twilight is one of the worst things I've ever read, and the only thing that springs to mind as worse is better written, but features some rather unfortunate rape scenes. It's not just mediocre, it's awful. It follows the motions of a romance story, but lack substance. It's not just cheesy. Cheese can be fun... if it's got heart. Twilight is heartless. "Boohoo my sort of boyfriend I barely know left me, and now I'm going to self-destructively mope about it forever. I will eventually start developing out of self-misery and pursue healthy relationships, but I will immediately ruin this with self-destructive behaviour because it induces weird memory/hallucinations of my long-gone sort-of-boyfriend." Of course that's not portrayed as positive. How could it be? You might make that into an interesting story about a teenager not coping with loss well, but this doesn't happen, instead it's validated by them getting back together, and everything being fine. It's not racist to twist a culture into a form that suits your narrative. Nobody with a functioning brain would claim it was. I'm also guaranteeing if it was a European culture being twisted you wouldn't blink an eye. Not addressing slavery makes sense. Why would a romance novel delve into slavery, just because it gave a character a backstory that they were a confederate soldier? Why is that what the book should focus on? If I mention the confederacy, should I now give a lecture on slavery and it's place in American history? Or maybe you just want some contrived self-righteous preaching about what the "correct" values to have are? Why is this channel infested with SJW nonsense? That blurb about Edward is just meaningless, as is everything thereafter. "He's a terrible boyfriend, and I like fiction that romanticizes terrible boyfriends, but I can differentiate fiction by reality, so gIvE wOmEn SoMe CrEdIt"
The nostalgia that people feel for HP, I feel for Twilight. But I am HIGHLY aware that the books, movies, franchise, existence is trash and Bella Swan and Edward Cullen are the least interesting characters in those movies. It just so happens that I, too, am trash and continue to love it regardless.
Can't believe half of these are considered unpopular opinions! I thought the Draco Malfoy, Pride and Prejudice, and the floppy paperbacks ones were Universal Truths. Wow, this is one of my favorite videos you've ever done. So many great points made! HANNAH, YOU SNAPPED. Absolutely adored this!

Honestly, as a huge fan of Cassandra Clare, I get why some people don't like her books. If I read TMI for the first time now, without being attached to any of the characters, I would hate it too. And I reread TID a while ago and found Tessa insufferable and I love her as an adult. But what I like about her books is how everything's entertwined, there are so many lovable characters, the worldbuilding is quite unique, I really enjoy her writing, she could literally write about a week in the lives of my favourite characters where nothing happens and I'd pay her for it. And I get that that's not for everyone because her books kind of rely on the love you have for the characters. Sure, you don't HAVE to have read every book and novella to to understand but I guess if you haven't, you won't understand why suddenly so many characters are appearing that our main characters already know or why they get engaged and married on page or what a lot of references are. You have to read everything to truly appreciate all the books, I assume. But what I absolutely cannot stand is that there are literal anti blogs out there, spreading lies about her being homophobic because she didn't give Malec focus in TMI when she literally tried and couldn't because it was 2007! And her books have gotten more inclusive and so much better over the years. Just look at the amount of queer people and queer people of colour in the newer books and novellas, you cannot claim she's homophobic. I just tried to write down all the representation we've gotten in Queen alone and it was so much, I couldn't even remember everything. Like, most authors will give you barely anything, maybe a queer side character or one queer couple if you're lucky but Cassandra Clare has given us so many happy queer characters, main queer characters, queer characters with a POV - hell, she created an entire bisexual species. You don't have to like her personality or her books but we should all appreciate that she's giving us the representation that especially the fantasy genre desperately needs.
This is super old, but I actually do have a problem with the way she wrote Alec and Magnus in TMI. I understand why their relationship was like 70% off page in the first trilogy (hello 2007), but in the latter half of the series they are written so badly because their storyline revolved around a supposed conflict that was in their relationship in the first trilogy. Alec's character arcs/development in the latter trilogy have no buildup whatsoever; he goes through breakneck personality changes every couple books, and his actions seem irrational because we aren't given any context to rectify his feelings in the first three books. Magnus also barely gets any depth until book 6. So yeah, I know that they were a big deal for representation back in the day, but I think it's weird that CC gets so much praise for Malec, even though Alec has to be the worst written main character in TMI I feel like she only went on to write Alec and Magnus so cool in later books to distract from how badly written they are in TMI. I also feel like she only wrote TEC because they got popular, and began to include more prominent gay or bisexual male characters to ride the Malec hype and make it more marketable to her audience of mainly teenage girls. It also bothered me how she wrote homophobia out of TSC past CoHF, which I believe she did so she could add more LGBT characters but not have to deal with the struggles that were established earlier in the series. It really had "Alec came out and suddenly changed the mind of all the old ass Shadowhunters involved in the Clave" energy. Simply reading TDA it wouldn't have bothered me, but it does because I think she did a bad job at writing Alec's experiences as an out gay man. He is closeted for 3 books because of alleged homophobia, but then she never actually writes him experiencing any of it. She has him mention his struggle like twice in books 4,5, and 6 combined, and then shoehorns in this moment with his dad at the end of book 6 that rehashes of a conversation they had that took place off page 3 books ago
As a Throne of Glass fan, I actually really love Chaol as a character! Chaol is a realistic character in that he doesn't get everything right the first time; he makes mistakes, he does some really questionable things, but he also grows as a person throughout the series. He loves so deeply, and wants to make things right.
So this is kinda weird but with the mention of fanfiction being better than the books and the mention of Bella Swan’s total lack of characterization, I have a fanfic recommendation for anyone who used to love Twilight but has since recognized its flaws: “Luminosity” is a twilight fic that rewrites the whole series with the premise “what if everything was the same except Bella was super competent, smart, and ambitious?” and it goes on to do the craziest, most impressive stuff with the worldbuilding that it’s clear Stephenie Meyer NEVER could have thought of... that fic is what I always think of when ppl talk about fic being better than the canon.
I'm glad someone can make the distinction. Coz some people ship a guy with the main girl only because THEY THEMSELVES like that guy and not because he's actually perfect for the girl
You know I'm French and all our books are paperbacks (hardbacks are rare ) And I'm so jealous because hardbacks are so beautiful on the bookshelves 😭😭😭

My unpopular opinion: Harry Potter is an amazing series! Here’s why. I think a lot of people compare it to other series they have read, but the other series they have read are YA or adult. Harry Potter is a children’s book. You find it in the children’s section of the library and bookstore. The protagonist is 11 when we first meet him. When compared to the likes of Roald Dahl and Beverly Cleary, the HP series can and do hold their own. It is the only series in its genre that has a story that complex. What other children’s series compares to HP? For me the books are at the pinnacle of its genre.
@@user-sq2px5pb2s Granted this is just anecdotal evidence, but I have come across more people that think that Harry Potter is overrated than people who agree with me. I have also come across a ton of people who don't like the series as much after re-reading it as an adult. I am not surprised that an adult would not find the familiar plot of a children's book that complex or compelling. I think there are fair criticisms to be made regarding the series (lack of diversity for instance), but in this point in time, Harry Potter has few rivals in its genre.
It is a really good serie. But if you tell some people it has flaws, they will bite your head off. And to your question "What other children’s series compares to HP ?", I will always respond that "His Dark Materials" is vastly better to me. It held so much better when I reread it as an adult.
That's only because of book marketing having changed so that what was previously marketed 10 to 13 age category is now marked as ya. Harry Potter I think is suitable for younger ages especially the earlier books. beverly clearly books and Roald Dahl are for a waay younger audience. I've read many books that that dealt with more complex or dark things at that age that previously weren't considered ya but are now. Basically kids have been getting less challenging content and censorship and somehow hp has survived largely because of the early books. Northern lights? Goodnight mister Tom little women. Holes the giver, hobbit, Patrick Ness. For some reason these are all in ya now. Even books like freaking Alex rider.
It’s interesting that you said that because you had to reread Harry Potter for school, you saw the flaws of the series/that a lot of the series is actually it’s nostalgia. I’ve actually taught the Harry Potter series in a college class (an upper division GE) and actually seeing the detail, references, and world building in the original series reinforces the craft of the series. You have to remember that before HP, there simply weren’t children’s books like it. I understand that it’s has flaws but honestly, no other series in our time receives such criticism as HP simply because of its universal popularity. Yet we forget why it was universally popular lol It’s becoming popular now with the bad HP films and play that have come out to say that the original series wasn’t even that great, but that actually comes from lack of knowledge of the history of YA novels prior to HP as well as lack of knowledge of a lot of the detail worked into the series. Sorry for the long comment but I’ve literally studied and crafted an entire college course on this lol
Omg I never clicked so fast on a video, and I also agree on Draco’s opinion because Tom Felton’s portrayal definitely changed the way I felt about Draco I kinda liked him before but after the movies I loved him.
Tom Felton at 11 looked just like my younger sister. I never managed to get that image out of my head so my head-characterisation for him has always been "immature brat" haha so yes the actor changed my opinion too.

I haven't been able to really enjoy reading in a few years because I haven't had the ability/opportunity to update my glasses. I love audio books so much.
My eyes hurt after reading for a long time so audiobooks do it for me. Honestly, long books are best in audio and for someone that travels a lot, saves a lot of space.

"LIfe is ultimately meaningless" speaks to the nihilist deep within me. Listening to you talk about Draco in the book versus in the movie, I had a minor epiphany about why I also shipped Dramione when I was younger. I think you're so right about Tom Felton's portrayal of Draco. It definitely lent to a more sympathetic read of Draco as a character. Of course, I was also at a stage of life where I was very much into the bad boy with a redemption arc who is only 'bad' because of his tortured past but could change with the ~right woman~. I am BEYOND curious about the angle the person who said Bella is a strong female character is coming from.
It's legit one of the best series I've read and I'm crying for more. It read like a heist movie and that's what I loved most about it. Even when they were down and out, they kept themselves three steps ahead of their enemies.
On the Harry Potter thing, as someone who is fully immersed in the fandom day in and day out (I’m writing this wearing my Ravenclaw jacket in a room painted bronze and blue with a deathly hallows poster on the wall), I fully accept that part of my love for the series is nostalgia, and certainly the reason I’m so in love with it is because I read it at such a young age (6 or 7, I think). But, as a part of the fandom, I critique the books and the plot and the characters a lot, and I still love the series, so I’d say that while nostalgia should be taken into account, the incredible world building and character creation should not be discredited. (Btw, I’m not bashing that submission, this is just my take)
The world building is very solid. And really I think that’s one of the key factor that has kept the series alive as long as it does. People still write fan fiction of HP today because the world is easy to slip into and interact with.
Sprayed edges are the best! Yes to the Chaol girl! I think he was one of the few characters I liked from beginning to the end, despite the authors attempts to make everyone dislike him.

SoC is a big book and most of the action doesn’t happen until toward the end. It is predictable and the characters are aged way too young for their amazing skills.
rubytadpole I agree. Kaz comes off to me like a mid to late twenty year old guy at the very least. But well, the book is targeted toward teens so ... gotta make them relatable I guess.
Honestly, The Night Circus destroyed me with the worst book hangover. It was just....wow. I want to reread it, but I also don’t want to destroy my chances to read other books while getting over the hangover.
I was wondering how Cassie Clare's books change the further into her publishing journey you go because I struggle so much with City of Bones but I WANT to enjoy the books I just can't.
Don't know where you're at by now, but TMI is definitely Cassie's worst series. Her writing does get much more sophisticated, her characters and themes deeper, the further that you go. Although her last TDA book was a huge misstep imo, and does make me slightly worried for the future.
Her writing does get exceptionally better. I don’t care for the mortal instruments that much. Clary drives me crazy, but I’ve read the infernal devices trilogy three times. I adore the characters. Chain of Gold which is her most recent book was also fantastic.
I’ve read all of the Throne of Glass books and love the series (it does have it’s flaws) and still love Chaol. Like I loved him in the two first books but reading Tower of Dawn made me fall in love with Chaol all over again. He’s everything (with Fenrys and Manon).
Your brows are goals. Also I love your honesty. On here, we can get so scared to share our opinions because of the backlash, but you could care less and i love it!
Chaol is the best character. I was shipping him with Caleana/Elentiya/Aelin for a long time, even when Dorian was head over heels for her. It was always him!
I completely agree with Chaol being the only reasonable character in the series. Like you, I've stopped reading the series in the 5th book ( I was so angry I even made a rant video about it!) so I don't know if redeems himself or not, but still I've always liked him and Manon :) 2 great characters!
idk, I always liked Draco and I never have really seen the movies, I really loved how he wasn't a good character but it clearly was from how and who he was raised by, idk, I genuinely like him
Every time I watch these videos I'm so impressed by your ability to be objective, and especially to admit when you're being subjective or biased, it's a great ability to have, and not just when it comes to books, but concerning other subjects a well. I really appreciate that. Also thank you for posting videos again, I hope you are feeling a lot better! Sending lots of love from Denmark!
I do love Throne of Glass series even though I recognise its (too many) flaws after watching your videos and I love Chaol. I have loved his character from the very beginning and until the very end. I think Manon would still maintain her post as a character you like till the last book.
Yeah, she probably knows (I don't speak for Hannah) that these books will get outdated in a few decades or even years. Newer, better books will be published that will push the older ones into the backseat, except for a select few that will inevitably stand the test of time and become the new generation of classics. I think that was her point with the 'current classics': that they were great and important in their own timeーlots are still important and relevant up to this day, in my opinionーbut the craft of literature has evolved and still continues to. Modern writing is more polished, cohesive, and creative (thanks in part to the multiple, meticulous stages of editing and publishing that weren't available a hundred years ago), and that was what she probably meant when she said that some classics can't stand against the modern books.
@@hyunghyung3379 What she reads and recommends the most are books from Pop lit...They(Most) don't have much literary value in them...Sure very rarely some may rise to the level of classics but the most are just for a few years. What you are talking about as 'craft of literature' I think is storytelling methods... If I am right, just because you tell a story in a new way doesn't make it a worthy read - it's the story itself - and the story naturally will evolve with evolving society - the writer has nothing to do with it nor the books.
I thought the 2005 pride and prejudice was awful. Really disliked it. I prefer the BBC mini series with colin firth as Darcy - that is perfection! Edit: Didn't Cassandra Clare commit a lot of plagiarism in her early work?
Maybe this is unpopular but I loved Chaol and I also love the TOG series??? Also your rant on Bella had me laughing omg! Also the audiobook thing,,, I hate when people say that listening to an audiobook isn't reading, because you're getting the story, just in a different way. The submitter of the opinion/fact is spot on: it's ableist to say that audiobooks aren't reading. I guess my unpopular opinion contribution to this video would be that it's okay to not own tons and tons of books! If you're going to the library or cutting down your waste by using a nook/kindle/ibooks/audible, power to you! I think everyone should own what they want to own, no matter how many or how little of a collection it is. A bigger collection of books doesn't make anyone a better reader than another as long as those books are loved!
Thank you SOOO much for all the books that you have talked about (Ember in the Ashes, Night Circus in particular) because I wouldn't have known about them otherwise.

She goes back to feeling like she doesn't belong.

readbyzoe 100% agree with you on Peter k in the book. I feel like Peter K in the movie was pretty great. And he was cool in the first book...but Lara Jean deserves McLaren 😞
Zoe hilarious and stunning honestly, you, hannah and hailey are absolutely amazing and I love all 3 of you. I say keep up the hard work. I'm enjoying bookmarkd
i definitely agree that tom felton has a huge influence on how we think of draco and he really is mostly a bully in the books, but i think books 6&7 definitely give him more depth and warrant a redemption arc
lmao it's totally not unpopular to dislike cassie or john XD
Honestly I think I base him warranting a redemption arc purely based on him being a kid raised by an evil man (I don't think Narcissa is inherently evil) but he was a kid in a warzone, so I felt like he deserved one. Tom Felton definitely made me more sympathetic though lol
exactly! he deserved one, that’s the end of it. he was raised by an evil man and forced to be a death eater. he deserved better.

YES AGREED
Ok now everytime I read a classic and don’t like it I’ll say “[blank] doesn’t even slap” because thats such an accurate way to express my feelings LOL
hermione isn’t overrated, just a lot of the other characters are underrated 🤷♀️
This.
I agree 100%
I love Twilight because of the nostalgia. I even, unashamedly, have a Twilight tattoo, but even 18-year-Old me would have told you that Bella is a weak character. That’s why I liked the books at the time. I felt like it was an accurate representation of what being a teenager “in love” feels like: bloody miserable.
Hey, I am over half a decade past the time I first read the books as a teenager and I still have a huge soft spot for them. And I still like Edward. How's that for unpopular? xD
AMEN
What do you have a tattoo of?
“Life is ultimately meaningless!” - love it! 😂
I only speak the truth
That’s some deep philosophical stuff right there
Bella’s only motivation is to be with Edward, who also is the worst, and her only character trait is that she’s clumsy. Like, really clumsy.
Like you can argue up and down about how damaging the depiction of depression is in New Moon.
“She doesn’t even have enough personality traits to be a weak character” 😂😂😂
The nostalgia that people feel for HP, I feel for Twilight. But I am HIGHLY aware that the books, movies, franchise, existence is trash and Bella Swan and Edward Cullen are the least interesting characters in those movies. It just so happens that I, too, am trash and continue to love it regardless.
I identify with every single word you wrote

Can't believe half of these are considered unpopular opinions! I thought the Draco Malfoy, Pride and Prejudice, and the floppy paperbacks ones were Universal Truths. Manon definitely deteriorates as the series goes on.

PREACH!
I'M LATE BUT YEAH SAID IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
Fr she's so underrated I love all of her books exept for the novella they were pretty boring
So yeah, I know that they were a big deal for representation back in the day, but I think it's weird that CC gets so much praise for Malec, even though Alec has to be the worst written main character in TMI
I feel like she only went on to write Alec and Magnus so cool in later books to distract from how badly written they are in TMI.
I LOVE PETER K he grew as a person so much over the course of the books and he deserves all the love
alyssaxo thank you someone said it!
As a Throne of Glass fan, I actually really love Chaol as a character! Chaol is a realistic character in that he doesn't get everything right the first time; he makes mistakes, he does some really questionable things, but he also grows as a person throughout the series. He loves so deeply, and wants to make things right.
Charlotte Looby Totally agree !! 😁
I love Chaol as well(but still dont read the TOD)

Chaol was the reason why I continued reading the series. I love his character to bits! 💕 (I'm just in the middle of book 2, btw...)
ToD is amazing! I was afraid first cause I loved him so much, but I read it and I love him now even mooooore
So this is kinda weird but with the mention of fanfiction being better than the books and the mention of Bella Swan’s total lack of characterization, I have a fanfic recommendation for anyone who used to love Twilight but has since recognized its flaws: “Luminosity” is a twilight fic that rewrites the whole series with the premise “what if everything was the same except Bella was super competent, smart, and ambitious?” and it goes on to do the craziest, most impressive stuff with the worldbuilding that it’s clear Stephenie Meyer NEVER could have thought of... that fic is what I always think of when ppl talk about fic being better than the canon.
wait why do I actually wanna read that lol
Peter Kavinsky was perfect for Lara Jean but John Ambrose is perfect for ME
yeah you're right, they suit each other better but I personally like John 😭 which is why I ship them
I'm glad someone can make the distinction. Coz some people ship a guy with the main girl only because THEY THEMSELVES like that guy and not because he's actually perfect for the girl

Plus Harry Potter has no age boundaries, anyone can read it and enjoy it
i agree but i don’t really think that that’s an unpopular opinion 😅
Yet we forget why it was universally popular lol
It’s becoming popular now with the bad HP films and play that have come out to say that the original series wasn’t even that great, but that actually comes from lack of knowledge of the history of YA novels prior to HP as well as lack of knowledge of a lot of the detail worked into the series. Sorry for the long comment but I’ve literally studied and crafted an entire college course on this lol
well said!!

(Btw, I’m not bashing that submission, this is just my take)
I read the first book the first time at 19 (2 yrs ago xD) and I love the series for the things you mention. I also like the messages and themes.
The world building is very solid. And really I think that’s one of the key factor that has kept the series alive as long as it does. People still write fan fiction of HP today because the world is easy to slip into and interact with.

'Life is ultimately meaningless so why not own multiple copies of you're favourite books if it makes you happy' is my new motto

THIS IS SO FUN! :) i need to do an unpopular opinions tag at some point... i just love controversy way more than i should
I literally said "ummm no" with you at 6:25 😂
Every time I watch these videos I'm so impressed by your ability to be objective, and especially to admit when you're being subjective or biased, it's a great ability to have, and not just when it comes to books, but concerning other subjects a well. I really appreciate that. Also thank you for posting videos again, I hope you are feeling a lot better! Sending lots of love from Denmark!
How can you hate authors/books that you've not even read though?
Maybe they knew her or about her back when she was active in fandom. She didn't leave a good impression on a lot of people.
Omg that fan fiction post is so accurate. Honestly after so many reading fanfics sometimes I forget what’s cannon and what’s fanfic.
The Chaol opinion thing is so true. I can't stand ToG, but I will die on the Chaol Is The Best Character In The Series hill.
I do love Throne of Glass series even though I recognise its (too many) flaws after watching your videos and I love Chaol. I have loved his character from the very beginning and until the very end. I think Manon would still maintain her post as a character you like till the last book.
If you think so about classics, think about where your favorite YA and contemporary books will stand after say some 50 or 60 years...
She doesn't like Dickens, but she likes Cassandra Clare....Lol
Hannah, I am so glad you are back. Sending you a big hug and a wish for peaceful and relaxing holidays.
I thought the 2005 pride and prejudice was awful. Really disliked it. I prefer the BBC mini series with colin firth as Darcy - that is perfection!
Edit: Didn't Cassandra Clare commit a lot of plagiarism in her early work?
Could we have a video on your favourite fan fictions? Honestly don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone brave enough to post one
Oh my god, Queen Hannah has uploaded👸❤️
Love you Hannah! You're amazing! ❤️
YOU'RE amazing!
Thank you SOOO much for all the books that you have talked about (Ember in the Ashes, Night Circus in particular) because I wouldn't have known about them otherwise.
