Great! I'm getting back into dancing after a long time and a serious foot injury - this was very helpful and I can't wait to get back on pointe - with correct fitting shoes.
All of my Blochs were 7.5 (my street shoe is usually 8 or 8.5 depending on the shoe)... Apart from Triomphe. Those were 6.5 for me. Good grief those were some of the weirdest shoes I've had! Might give Suffolks a go sometime.
My daughter Bella has been dancing in stellar lights for about a year now (her first show) and she loves them . They look gorgeous on her feet. I’d like to see a video discussing all of the different options of Suffolk pointe shoes and why one might choose one over the other . Like solos over Stellars etc....
Hi Katie!! Thank you so much. I’m so excited to see you making more videos on this channel ❤️ I was wondering if you could do a video about the differences in the different Suffolk models? Like what characteristics a stellar has vs a sterling vs a spotlight vs a solo? I haven’t found a lot of information about this online.
Omg!! More pointe shoe brand should come into Malaysia !!! As a ballerina, we have so limited brand of pointe shoe where is hard for me to find a suitable shoe!!! 😭😭
Can you do a video based on how to model! During photo shots how to look good and natural! I would love this video! Since I would love to learn this for headshots
Hi Katie, thanks for the information. Please, help me ! what pointe shoes recommend for-> foot circumference - 9.7 inches and foot lenght 9.65 inches ( Greek and medium arch). And my arch is in the middle of my foot 😃
I don't know much about En Pointe Orthotics, but we always encourage dancers to bring whatever padding they wear to fittings. And if it is custom padding, you must then mold it to your new shoe.
I use the PerfectFit Pointe Inserts and I would fit the dancer without any padding, except tights! This way you can get the best fit possible, and then once the dancer molds the pads, it should be perfect!
Great video! I am excited to see more of Katie here too! I do have a question, what should I do if my shoes are breaking in too low? I wear Suffolks, and I feel like they are fitting me correctly. Yet, when broken in, my shoes break very low, breaking the line of my shoe. What would you suggest?
I wear Russian pointes and I just noticed that my shank only comes to my mid-heel. Is it supposed to be this way with Russian pointes? I do have trouble getting over my box. Could shank length be a factor?
So excited for these new videos! I have one question about Suffolk’s though, I got fitted in the Sonnets last year but when I got them home I could never seem to break them in. The shape is great but they are SO hard I can never get over them. I feel like I can’t articulate my feet at all and even feel like they are pushing me off my box. Any suggestions how I can soften them up?
Hi Lucia, this is Katie replying! Sonnets come in both Standard and Hard shank. Do you know if they were hard? The Sonnets are also VERY low profile (flat) and it could be that you need a higher box shape. Do you feel like they are pushing you back? I can't wear the Sonnet due to that problem as well. (In the profile segment of this video - I had a Sonnet on the "Wrong" foot.) So I would recommend either trying a lighter shank or a different style. Have you tried Spotlight or Stellar? Both of those are the next step up in profile from the Sonnet. I'm in a Sterling which is one of the higher profile shoes. So maybe play around with style if you can! xoxo Katie
Suffolk thank you so much for the suggestions! They actually are a standard shank. I have tried the Spotlights before I got Sonnet but those didn’t work either. They twisted terribly and I felt like I was constantly fighting with them just to not look like I was sickling at all times lol! Oddly enough, I absolutely kill the shanks and they seem nice and soft but the boxes are just SO hard. That’s what I can’t seem to break in enough. 💖 Lucia
Nice to see Katie here! 💕💕 interesting to know about profile too. Does it mean that if you have a thicker feet you should definitely go for a higher profile? I have moderately thicker feet so I started with higher profile but then I found out it’s kind difficult to get on pointe esp when doing pirouettes. so I changed to low profile shoes. It felt really tight around my metatarsal area but I can get on pointe a lot easier...however when I’m standing flat there is always a little bit of meat bulging up along the edge of my vamp(lol). But strangely when I’m on pointe it’s perfectly in line with the vamp. I’m just so confused...do you think it’s because I actually need a higher profile but my feet is too weak currently ? Or I just need a low profile despite that I have fuller feet? Thank you!
If you feel better in a lower profile, then it could be a size issue. I would actually look into going up in length. If your shoe is too short, your foot has no choice but to pop out over the top. It has to go somewhere! Maybe even go up in width, too. So if you like your profile, keep it and play with size. If that doesn't work, then maybe try changing the profile.
esstown thanks~ it’s kind difficult cuz the combination of short toes and really high arches, bulging insteps and super flexible ankles...up till now the combination of hard shank, medium vamp, and medium high profile, plus a lot of controlling myself to pull back my arches and not to roll over too much works the best :)
I'm very excited to be collaborating with Suffolk! If you guys have any video requests, please leave them below! xoxo
Can we just appreciate how long she is staying on point!!!

We're excited too!
The correct fit looked gorgeous on Kathryn. 👍❤

Just got refitted with Suffolk Sonnet a few days ago and I'm excited to try this brand out.

Best video and straight to the point, thank you Katie.
Thanks Amira!

That is definitely on our to do list!
Ha !! I want that very same video too😍 my daughter loves her Stellars but I wanted to know what the differences are between the options
Yes. And maybe the lights as well. My daughter wore Solo Prequel Light and is now in Stellar Light. I would love to know the difference.
Video request : How to improve outside the class if you don't take that many classes?
Great request! I will add it to the list!
Love this! Such a helpful video! Can't wait to see more! ☺️

Woohoo!! This came out great! Go Katie and Riley!
Thanks Lauren!
Wonderful. So simplified
Vamp Length is also super important! My toes are short, I can not go through demi-pointe if the vamp is too long!

Thank youl
Loved this
This was very helpful thank you !😊

Queria aprender tanto isso
What do you think of products like En Pointe Orthotics? And how would you fit a shoe knowing the dancer wanted to use them?
I don't know much about En Pointe Orthotics, but we always encourage dancers to bring whatever padding they wear to fittings. And if it is custom padding, you must then mold it to your new shoe.

What style of Suffolks do you wear? Some have higher break points than others! That will help me determine what is going on.
I wear Stellar's with a standard shank. Thank you!
anyone just find this video after their fitting
My dance studio is closed. How do I figure out my size and perfect fit for point shoes at home?
I wear Russian pointes and I just noticed that my shank only comes to my mid-heel. Is it supposed to be this way with Russian pointes? I do have trouble getting over my box. Could shank length be a factor?
your shank is supposed to end mid heel! if it covered your entire heel, it would prevent you from getting over the box.
Interesting. I asked my teacher about it and she said my shank wasn’t too short either. But Kathryn says it should end where your heel ends. 🤷🏼♀️

Suffolk thanks you so much! Next time I’ll definitely play with other length or width to see if it works better. 😃💕
If you have short toes as well as thicker feet, you possibly need a higher profile but a shorter vamp and/or softer shank

I actually like when the shank hits further down on my heel (more towards the arch of my feet) versus lining up with my heel. Is this bad?
Vamp!? My shoes always are too high up the front of my foot.
Vamp usually varies mostly by style, not usually by size. However, we do offer custom vamps if you love one of our styles but the vamp is too high.

Why do I feel like Suffolks look similar to Freeds
It’s crazy to me each pointe shoe is hand made.
Omg her feet is so red
