If you look at such a well trained singer like her, you shouldn't directly see if the singer sings high or low or belts or whatsoever, and that is the case here. Belting ist perfect when you can't see the singer scream.
Did you not read what I said? Her first album was rock/fusion. WAY rockier than this at times. And "I feel everything" was a heavy rock song originally. RENT is also the rockiest musical I know... The whole of OBC RENT used to get pidgenholed as these rockers with rock voices and at first it was hard to shake off, it's well-known trivia. She does pop/bigband/jazz/classical/musical. Yeah her new album was less rocky but thats not her whole repertoir. Do yer homework!

And her job for years was singing everything from rock to Motown...notto mention her 1998 rock/fusion album...or the original version of one of her new songs. There's a difference between softer and bubblegum. To me what makes something bubblegum is the lack of legitimacy. Kerrys voice is legit!!! In my opinion she'd be put to better use singing good stuff because she's very good... Oh and idina's a Powerhouse...of all the rediculous insults

I would get it if she was a major star but she's not and I don't think her fans deserved that. Especially as she literally owes EVERYTHING to them! I don't really care tbh, I didn't want the autograph that night...
@mzginge1 But they can move on and they have. Eddie was the voice and the heart of queen ...no doubt. But, By them selfs , they can re invent themselfs. Brian is ranked as one of the best guitarists, The rest of the band is extremely talented. Lol, Maybe they can find their next singer on U tube just like Journey did..........Kidding.

Well Idina always comes out...I know this because a) there's a rediculous amount of videos of her, and b) after Chess sh made sure she signed everyones stuff! Dunno about Eden though And no Kerry doesn't always. I once waited after Wicked and neither her nor Dianne came out!!!
Ok, well the experience I had with her, she was not nice at all...she practically ran out of Stage Door after Chess...and some peope ran after her. She signed all of 5 autographs. And my friend is an obsessive Kerry fan and she's the original person to say to me she isn't nice, because she was really upset about it. And again, I have said how talented I think she is. The problem with this version of the song is the arrangement...not her voice
Idina is known as a rock singer...Kerry isn't, so Idina would be capable. Just as Kerry would be CAPABLE of doing Idinas version. I prefer Idinas version because I think the rock version is cheesey crap but that's Brian May's fault... They are both tremendously capable.
She needs to practice on her vocal technique, no control what so ever on that last, high belted note. No vibrato, and although she tried putting it in, the note went straight, then wobbley, straight then wobbley then straight.
She's putting on a silly "rock" voice which isn't her at all... And it looks like she's trying SO to be "rocky" and cool! - Not to menton she can't walk in those heels. She has an INCREDDIBLE voice - but she can't pull off rockstar and this version makes me kinda sad :-(

And this version I find appauling, it'd be better if she just did the original, it's a terrible version. She really has a great voice!!! And she's brilliant as Elphaba, but she shouldn't try and act like something she's not. And what she is not is a rocker.
I have on many occasions stated performances of Idina's were not up to her standard. And I have nothing against Kerry, in fact I think she's hugely talented!!! But this version makes me angry and sad because it's frankly, a crap one...Not because of her voice, but because of the arrangement. I think she's good but she's not the best Elphaba, and she annoys me lol because shes not very nice. Whereas Idina is original and lovely. But yes I do criticise Idina...I just hate this version, its crap
