Mike Yung lleva 38 años cantando en los andendes del metro. Su voz recuerda a los más grandes del soul y cuando interpreta clásicos del género le pone tanta pasión que parece que los haya escrito él. En los últimos años ha vivido picos de popularidad. Muchas de las personas que cruzan los andenes en los que canta Mike graban sus interpretaciones y las suben a las redes sociales. Algunos de estos videos se han viralizado y celebridades como James Corden le han dado una oportunidad en su programa, pero Mike vive en una situación precaria, ya que lo que gana cantando en el metro apenas le sirve para mantener a su familia, que vive en Brownsville, uno de los barrios más peligrosos y pobres de Brooklyn. Por ello Mike decide emprender este viaje por America's Got Talent en busca del millón de dólares y la popularidad necesaria para poder sacar a la luz un disco musical, algo por lo cual Mike ha soñado toda su vida.
