This is a soldered version of the previous circuit. I optimized the gate resistors, added a heat sink & a 2.2 ohm resistor, and a high voltage 220uf cap. Seems the reluctance drops sharply as the coils reach resonance, but the current draw is quite high at start up and low speeds. Had some success with an inrush VR, but I didn't have the correct value in my junk box. Still tinkering with a phase shift circuit to replace the decade counter.
