Hm... not giving up within the first hours is important, this game can sometimes be brutal for newcomers. Not only that, but to 100% you need to spend hundreds of hours, so unlocking stuff takes some time. It's a lot about memorizing enemy patterns and rooms + what items do. Despite every seed being different, rooms themselves aren't randomly generated by the game, so if you see a room, you want to memorize it because you seeing the exact same room with exact same enemies in the future is likely to happen. You might also lose some of your first runs because of certain items, but that's exactly what this game is about - if an item does happen to kill your run, you will remember how it works or if it's good / bad for your playstyle. Same with enemies and bosses, there's a lot of them, but they have their patterns that you can memorize (except for one boss). Another important thing is getting all the DLC (if I were to only play the base game, I would probably just not play in the first place). For me Isaac is the best indie game ever made because of infinite replayability and its gameplay. I'm currently at ~550h and I still have fun playing it which is not something I can say about many games.
