He's standing on the porch of the Shaifer House (seen in a few other shots too) at Port Gibson but almost all the other shots are Vicksburg, not Port Gibson.
my great great grandfather fought here with Co. G of the Iowa Infantry in the Union Army. He survived this battle but would die at the 3rd battle of Winchester in 1864
I have an ancestor who died there. Cause of death listed as "head blown off."
