Meanwhile, Carmy and Natalie delve into the restaurant's financial maze, searching for documents to resolve unpaid taxes. Maple and Arianna watch as Marcus faces his own struggles, balancing his ambition for perfect donuts with his responsibilities in the restaurant. The episode takes a dramatic turn when stray gunfire shatters the restaurant's windows, pulling Richie into a confrontation with local gangsters. Poor Richie. I feel like losing Mikey is like losing a brother to him. This restaurant is all that is left of him. He is not ready to let go and move on.

Yeah the actor played so well on this intro, in the way he looked at Mike and stuff it said it all

Richie clinging to his "delicate ecosystem" is so sad cause he knows everyone else is improving and that they'll keep moving forward, so he is scared he will get left behind cause he can't improve (according to his low self-esteem that is, I believed in him since episode 1)

i love by the end of the episode you guys can empathize and understand where Ritchie is coming from. when i first started the show he was definitely someone that i had to let grow on me and he does by the end of this season.
his arc in the 2nd season damn near if not fully makes me cry.

I’m not trying to be rude and she can do whatever she wants but I’m not a fan at all. Her eyes were already beautiful. Didn’t need it.

There was an Italian beef shop in Lincoln NE of all places, called M&N Sandwhich. The location was always a bit of a dive, but OMG the food was amazing. But it was a 1 man show. Owner/operator did it all. He'd always make sandwiches for the local Blue/Jazz bar "The Zoo" to the point regulars performers would seek out his shop when in town. Sadly, since it was a 1 man show, when he passed at 71, there was no one to take over for him.
M&N was for Millie and Norm. Millie was his wife.
He was really really nice, but he was gruff so he reminded people a lot of the Seinfeld 'soup nazi' episode.
I remember specifically ordering one of his Italian beef and pastramis (my favorite) the first time and he asks me, 'do you want peppers on that?' I said yeah he says 'great, ok how about onions??" and I said nah, and he kinda gives me a look like, OK novice I'll let it slide you better get the next part right, and then asks if I wanted it juicy (extra au jus)? and I said definitely and he gets a grin on his face. Best sandwich I've ever had.
😢😢 I miss Norm and his amazing food. This show reminds me of his shop.

Norm sounds like one of the real ones. Sadly a dying breed with the way small businesses are being crushed by the system.
      A 'delicate ecosystem' 🥲

What I appreciate the most about these reactions is the details only people who are or have been in the industry catch and mention. "Can somebody answer the phone" YES that was driving me INSANE, whenever I go to a restaurant and the phone rings I want to answer myself. This show's editing does replicate the anxiety and the insanity of working at a restaurant for people who don't, but it's the details that get me

Its so satisfying to watch Carmy go from being a hard ass, emotional, playful person to instant professionalism to everyone when he "clocks in for work". And I agree with your previous thoughts. The cooking b-roll is awesome.

The thing that I find the most heartwarming about this series is the respect and equality that exists between the employees in this restaurant. Despite the different backgrounds and experiences. They call each other chef and seem to really look out for each other. Cannot say I have seen that in very many workplaces that I have been around anyway.

The opening scene of this episode is such great foreshadowing. Mikey starts something, forgets about it, and Carmy ends up finishing it.

we record in batches and the videos can come out at wildly different times. so one day of contacts can equal a month or more of eye color changes

I constantly flip between liking and strongly disliking sydney. She is too impetuous, and it comes off as arrogant. A lot of times she thinks she knows better than everyone else. She would be much better as an owner of her own establishment, because then she could push whatever decisions she wants and sink or swim on her own, and not someone else's dime.

Of all characters that’s the one you stuck on? Not Richie his thinks he can run the store better when in reality he’s running it into the ground. Just say u dislike women. Everybody in that store got superiority complex issue and don’t want to change their ways and think they know what’s best

    • @vizar1337
      @vizar1337 26 дней назад +1

@ReelPiscesPlays Richie isn't great either. He is a hot mess, but at least he's been there for a long, long time, and is close family friends with Carmy.
Imagine if you owned a floundering business. You have a strong emotional attachment to the business, and stand to lose a lot of capital if it goes under. You hire someone, and they immediately start trying to go over your head making large business decisions. You barely know them, and they have nothing to lose if the business goes under. They can just pack their things and find another position. I'm sure you wouldn't be too happy.
I gave pretty clear reasons why I think Sydney is frustrating at times, and none of them have to do with her being a woman. Please stop projecting your trauma or prejudice onto me.
