- “Grandfather’s Clock” is a song written in 1876 by Henry Clay Work. It is often performed in bluegrass jams and concerts. There are words to the song which are interesting-an old man’s clock served him faithfully, keeping perfect time; but when the man died the clock stopped, never to run again. Banjo players love the song because they get to make their banjos “chime” like a clock. Played in the key of A on a Deering Clawgrass 2 with backing track generated by Band-In-A-Box.

I love the harmonics!
Thanks. They're fun to do.
Lovely, John. You are my inspiration to keep trying to get some speed into my shaky old digits.
I appreciate your kind words of encouragement, Colin.
Solid picking!
Much appreciated, John!
Now that's how to do a RUclips video! No messing about. Does what it says on the tin!
Great arrangement and very well played John thanks. I have heard that clever run down lick you play at 1:12 before but have never figured it out in over 40 years..!!
Thank you, David. I have been playing that lick for so long I could not tell you what I am doing. You can use the YT settings to slow the video way down and probably get it. If not, let me know and I will work out the fingering on that run for you
Wow, who knew you could play that song as bluegrass?
Very nice! Have you seen the video of Leroy Troy playing this clawhammer style? It's pretty funny.
I'll check it out. Thanks.
My goodness, if you have a Patreon page, I’d be happy to support this music!
I don't have a Patreon page, Zach. I try to keep things simple. But thanks for the offer.
Good job
Thank you!
