Great video and review thank you so much and really looking forward to play both characters later today! I pre-order the deluxe edition digital on ps5! I hope you guys have a wonderful day!
The Chant was a pleasure to play without being a big horror title. I think the story, unusual environments and atmosphere will see this worth a play or two with 15 hours or so for two playthroughs from different character perspectives/ experiences (something the RE2 remake did a very sloppy job of providing in an otherwise brilliant game).
Yay an 8 finally real journalists that judge the game properly. Thats y i like u guys❤❤ ive heard people say 'oh its not scary, gameplay is janky or acting was bad etc' the game is a lovecraftian psychological horror game. Psychological horror games arent always about the scares or horrors. Its about the mystery and questioning reality. Is wat ur seeing real or is it all in ur head. Silent Hill is psychological with horror but relies on the creatures to be the horror aspect. Dead Space same thing, but they used sound, lighting, and monsters to bring out the horror with mid psychological themes. Alone in the dark is more puzzle solving and mystery solving. They do rely on the horror but not so much, which isn't a bad thing. Like sinking city, it's the same thing it was detective solving and psychological less horror. I still jumped during the demo with the little girl. Monster designs look unique and creative. I still judge games for myself, but i still keep ears open to see wat others say but it all comes down to prefrence for everybody. And i finally get to play system shock in may on my ps5 so freaking damn excited for that one 🤩🤩
Thanks for the positive feedback once again! ❤️ @jazzmengardley750 I think I have a good understanding of what to look for in the horror field. But like every other genre-as you said-people are going to have certain expectations of what a game should look/be/feel like. We just try to judge the game based on what it brings to the table and less so on what it "should be" if that makes sense? You picking up this game today? - Anthony
@TheBetaNetwork Had it pre-ordered a week ago, so excited to get back to games with lovecraftian themes🤩 just finished yakuza infinite wealth so I have room now to play alone in the dark 😁 I've been playing Banishers and yeah those choices god their gut wrenching choices, except for the ghost who was abusing his wife I banished his ass that was an easy choice🤣🤣
I don’t trust gaming journalists they can review games poorly. They gave alien isolation a 5.7 something like that and said it’s not a good game just repetitive
It's definitely gone full circle. Also some of the enemies in this AitD reimagining look similar to the tree enemies in resident evil 7. I'm sure this wasn't intentional but still cool to see. I did like your take on the game. As it seemed unique (from all the other boring reviews), honest, and to the point. The subtle lighting and jazzy sound design seem top shelf. I like the nightmarish atmosphere and Noir mystery vibe to it as well.
That's true! I'm not sure either @benrichey859 But thanks for the positive feedback, I really appreciate it! Like you said, the game has that noir/nightmarish feel, but it also has a really cosy vibe to it with an otherwise warm-looking mansion and smooth jazzy tunes playing in the background. Hope you enjoy playing through the rest of the game! - Anthony
I would recommend this game to anyone who... 1. is aware that this isn't a highly polished AAA experience. 2. doesn't expect an action heavy game (it's more of a slow burning atmospheric adventure with a bit of basic combat). 3. is intrigued by the story trailer or maybe even a fan of the original AitD. I would also rate it 8/10 IF (!) they manage to fix more of the games annoying bugs and glitches.
This is a refreshing review. I am in need of something after playing all the modern RE games and Dead Space. I really want a fun horror game. It's only 39.99 now.
Hahaha! That's fair @horriblefridge There are so many massive games coming out this week that Sam and I had to really pick and choose which ones to review. Bit of a bummer 😅 I took Alone in the Dark and he covered Rise of the Ronin. His review is out for that very soon too, so be sure you're subscribed for that one 👏 - Anthony
Nice! Ironic too that Alone was delayed to avoid a busy release window (Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2) and now it releases just shy of March 22nd with DD2 and Ronin.
@@capnphuktard5445 Yes I just streamed and enjoyed the demo! Currently in 4.5 hours deep of Alone in the Dark. Really nice so far. Tone and pacing are unique.
@@TheBetaNetwork I played through 5 times to get all the endings. The only technical issues I ran into were a few hang-ups in specific areas, but I was always able to reposition and dodge out (or be killed, haha.)

Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did-I'm sure you will! Have a wonderful day too 😊
Played 4.5 hours and find it very enjoyable. Love the pacing and tone.

It's definitely a solid survival horror game and I've enjoyed what I've played so far. Can't wait to play more.

Jazz music said to be great in this one. Complimentd the tone well I bet.

I wholeheartedly agree with your review
Choosing between Dragon's Dogma 2 and "Ronin" was tricky (chose Ronin) but there's always room for a slice of horror in my gaming stomach.

You should try Outcast..It's a cheesy blast..Don't even want to go to work since I bought it.

Good review for a very good game. Only thing wrong is the hefty price.
It does live up to the original game's legacy. Good review. I though this game was fantastic.
Thanks so much! @Cooldadder
That's good to hear! Hopefully there weren't too many technical issues during your playthrough. How did it go? - Anthony

Thumbs up for drinking hot chocolate.
Hahaha! Thanks, mate 😂 @Pyke64
Italian Milk Chocolate specifically 😁 - Anthony
