Never went to Red Byrd that way. Always came up the Douglas trail and crossed the river. Don't know which way is harder, but the way coming up the river is pretty exhausting. Lots of scrambling over boulders.
You are the first person that has ever mentioned going that way. I think I called the Davison trail lol. I knew it was something like that . How long of a hike was it that way.
@@RJAdventures-rm3re Distance-wise, not too far. Exertion-wise, it's pretty tough. We took the Douglas trail to just past Clifty Creek and crossed the river on a diagonal. From there on, it was scrambling over boulder after boulder, but that part of Red River is really spectacular and beautiful and makes all the sweat and bruises worth it.
