🔎 Today, we’ll explore 10 of the worst foods for nerve health, as well as tips to enjoy your favorite foods while staying on the path of good health.
10. Coffee, rich in antioxidants, is known to have several health benefits, including improved brain function and reduced risk of diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. However, for individuals with nerve damage or at risk of developing nerve problems, caution is advised due to caffeine's potentially adverse effects on nerve health.
9. Ultra-processed foods have been associated with nerve damage, including central nervous system demyelination. These foods contain inflammatory substances and lack essential nutrients, highlighting the need to opt for healthier alternatives and cook with fresh, whole ingredients for better nerve health.
8. High-Sodium Foods. Sodium is important for nerve and muscle function, but excessive intake can lead to high blood pressure and inflammation, which damages nerves. It's crucial to be aware of sodium in processed foods and find alternative ways to flavor meals, such as using spices that have added health benefits.
7. Certain fish, like shark, swordfish, king mackerel, and tilefish, can contribute to nerve damage due to high levels of mercury and PCB contamination. Mercury poisoning from consuming fish with high mercury levels can harm the brain and nervous system, while PCBs, industrial chemicals found in some fish, can also pose risks.
6. Gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye, can be detrimental to nerves, especially for individuals with diabetes, celiac disease, or gluten sensitivity. Gluten can trigger inflammation and damage the small intestine, impairing nutrient absorption and leading to deficiencies in vital nerve-supporting nutrients like vitamin B12 and magnesium.
5. Excessive alcohol consumption harms nerve cells, leading to dysfunction or cell death, and hampers the absorption and metabolism of vital nutrients like thiamine. This can result in alcoholic neuropathy, while alcohol-induced liver damage impairs detoxification processes.
4. Refined carbohydrates, like white bread and white rice, are detrimental to health, particularly for those concerned about diabetes. These carbs have a high glycemic index, leading to rapid blood sugar spikes, damaging blood vessels, and increasing the risk of neuropathy.
3. Deep-fried foods contain harmful compounds known as AGEs, causing inflammation and health problems like nerve damage, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Limit their consumption to occasional treats and choose healthier cooking methods.
2. Trans fats are harmful, causing inflammation and increasing the risk of heart disease by 50%. They are found in processed foods like margarine and snacks, so check labels and avoid products with trans fats or partially hydrogenated fat.
1. Refined sugar is extremely harmful, causing inflammation, oxidative stress, and nerve damage. Its addictive nature and widespread consumption contribute to various health problems such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease.

#1. Refined sugar should also include artificial sweeteners, shouldn't it?
Refined sugar typically refers to the processed white or brown sugar derived from sugarcane or sugar beets. Artificial sweeteners, on the other hand, are synthetic sugar substitutes that provide sweet taste without the calories or impact on blood sugar levels. While both refined sugar and artificial sweeteners are used as alternatives to natural sugars, they have distinct differences.
If you have specific concerns about refined sugar or artificial sweeteners and how they may impact your health, it's best to consult with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian who can provide personalized advice based on your individual needs and medical history.
@@DiabeticsTalk ALL forms of sugar s are bad for your health. Artificial sweeteners interfere with your body‘s natural signals to let you know you are full. The only sweeteners to use are pure Stevia powder with a glycemic index of zero and monks route with a glycemic index of seven.
I think for me there's no harm in drinking coffee because I take it only once per day then I added high calcium milk powder like adult plus milk.
Isn’t anyone going to list the 10 so we don’t have to watch it all?

Is honey part of the refined sugar to be avoided .
Great question! Honey is a natural sweetener, but it still contains sugars that can affect your nerves and overall health. It’s best to enjoy it in moderation, especially if you're looking to avoid refined sugars. Thanks for watching the video!
Apparently…almost EVERYTHING we put in our mouth is bad for us.
Thank you for your comment. It can feel overwhelming with so much information about what to avoid, but the goal is to make more informed choices for better health. Moderation is key, and being aware of certain foods can help you manage your nerve health more effectively. Thanks for watching the video and sharing your thoughts!
