Great insight into sidemout rebreathers. Somewhat surprised by the information regarding the CE standard, the WOB & the physics involved using that type of configuration. I’m extremely grateful for the honest review on this product. Don’t think I’ve ever heard such an honest review on a product, especially considering that you where given one. Only wish others where as honest about the products they sell. Great video Jill, keep’em coming👌

Another great informative equipment video Jill. I would love to hear your opinion on Dive Rites new chest mount optima.

I have not used the Choptima, so I'm afraid I can't really offer an experienced opinion.

Jill could you please give us an update on the liberty sidemount with wob at depth. How deep have you had it? Any insights would be awesome because I’m researching my next unit. You rock!

Hi there! You might want to connect with DiveSoft and ask them for the WOB stats. They can share the data from their CE testing. I don't currently dive the unit these days. I opted for a backmount rebreather which works better for me as a photographer. I can be like walking a dog off leash and the shifting body positions and trim are not ideal for SM rebreathers. Cheers!

Never scuba dived. Would adding a blower to an inhale hose improve the breathing issues? Military hazmat suits have them, so you can run around and breathe normally.

Great video and so well explained! Can't wait to read your book!

I would take a look into the Fathom Gemini. I know it wasn’t released when this video was made, but the WOB on it is even better than CE rated backmount units, like the JJ (I dive both). Also it has great flood tolerance with the second scrubber canister.

Yes! I am interested in giving that a spin!

Great insight into SM rebreathers. Are SF2 ECCR good and similar reliable?

You say you're a little leary of taking it on deeper dives, what depths have you taken this rebreather down to and still felt comfortable? Do you still have the same opinions on this rebreather 3 years after this original video?

What about the KISS SPIRIT Sidewinder? The hydrostatic effect would be way less on it, right? Does it count as a SM-CCR?

The Sidewinder is somewhat of a "Mongrel" child. Back mounted counter lung, but sidemount profile and scrubber location. According to people i know who dive both Backmount, and the Sidewinder, the difference in breathing is negligible.

Would love to see someone using another Sidemount CCR as a bailout! :)

Liberty has a good bailout rebreather video

Sounds scary. I would always want to be able to lose and regain my mouthpiece with no consequence other than breath holding and recovery.

Many people use a "gag strap"... bad name for a good piece of safety gear that holds the mouthpiece in place.

But not as a side mount rebreather. There are a lot of CE certified rebreathers on the market but no one is certified as a side mount rebreather as she correctly stated
