  • After a long break from RUclips, we are back at it ... or are we? Find out in this video where we explain our break and give you details on what to expect going forward.
    I also take you to the barn for peaceful evening chores on a Sunday night. As the sun sets, the farm comes alive with a symphony of innovation and efficiency. The robotic milking system works with us to keep the barn running smoothly with minimal labour.
    In the midst of the automation, our farm remains a place of harmony and compassion. Our family works with the robots, ensuring that every cow receives individual attention and affection. Experience the magic of an evening on our robotic family dairy farm.

    We're not all farmers , I farmed from 16 to 19 and went on to be an electrician for the last 30 years . Now I worked on one 114 head milking plus heifers , calves etc. And to be honest if I could have made decent money I would have never left it I LOVED it !! So thru you and many others I live thru your vids. Such great work 👏 and what a farm wow

    G'day! I just found your channel and am happy I did. Being a fellow Canadian dairy farmer, it's great to see how others in our industry make it work.
    Best of luck with your downer cow. It's tough when you have done your best to raise them up healthy and happy, then life happens.
    Every farmer can understand how busy you get on the farm. So don't feel bad about not making more videos. Your family is the most important thing in your life. Everything else can wait.
    You have a fine barn there. Whether you make 5 more videos or 500, I look forward to seeing them and maybe pick up something I can use on my farm.
    Happy New Year and all the best! 🇨🇦 🚜

      Hello, I’m Laurens Husband.
      We would like to expand to around 110 cows. We feel we could handle that amount of work with limited part time help and then have an opportunity to farm with our kids if anyone shows interest as they get older.

    We don’t have a automatic feed pusher either we use a lawnmower with a blade it’s relatively cheap and it saves a lot of time

      Oh that's really cool! I've never heard of a lawnmower set up before, how inventive! Thanks for the comment and for watching 😊

    Not short of calcium? I used to hear that was the problem in most downed cows shortly after calving...

    • @dairyfarmkindoflife
      @dairyfarmkindoflife  6 месяцев назад

      That's what we expected too! We did give her calcium but after no improvement the vet came out to take blood and let us know it was a phosphorus deficiency. But you're right, that's what we assumed too!

    Instead of putting the bag in the bucket why don't you just dump t the milk replacer in the bucket? It would also be easier to tell when you're almost out.

    • @dairyfarmkindoflife
      @dairyfarmkindoflife  7 месяцев назад

      Hmm good idea! The only set back would be the dog would likely get into it, flies in the summer would live in it, and my kids would probably play in it 🤦‍♀️ I do like the idea though. Perhaps we need to find a tub with a lid!

      @@dairyfarmkindoflifeI was thinking along the same lines. I was thinking use a garbage bag as a liner in the container. that way you could still tie off the end to keep the dog out. Also if you happened to get some moisture in the milk replacer it would be a lot easier to replace the liner then try to clean sticky milk replacer out of the container.

    Did the Vet confirm that your down cow was phosphorus deficient. I won't give up on her til the Vet does. The reason that most people start a RUclips channel is for the money.

    • @dairyfarmkindoflife
      @dairyfarmkindoflife  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the comment! Yes it was the vet that told us that in the first place after confirmed bloodwork. We wouldn't know how to diagnose that on our own.
      Lol I mean that would be nice too! But that was not my original intent. Thanks for watching!
