Even though the scores seemed to suggest that ML had easy win for each and every game he played in this tournament, the reality was not like that at all. In the 4th set of the final, he was trailing all the time and narrowly managed to comeback at the very end. Had he had lost that set, which was very likely, the whole game could have been totally different. Falck would have boosted up his confidence even more, and ML would’ve become more nervous, the outcome would become more unpredictable. After ML won the 4th set luckily, everyone knows that the game was basically over. So, Don’t just look at scores and underestimate the amount of difficulties and challenges ML has been facing.

Ma Long, the Dragon, the Captain, the Dictator, the Master, the Legend, and now the GOAT has become the first player since Wang Liqin to win three men’s singles titles but the first player since Zhuang Zedong (1961, 1963, 1965) to win them consecutively. Ma Long hit such high quality balls this match that Falck couldn’t really use his killer smashes and counters with his short pip forehand. He also had a lot of low and short returns so that the opponent couldn’t initiate attack very well. Brilliant strategy and outstanding ball control!
I think under pressure from Ma's pivot forehand Falck could not realize the potential of his backhand like when he played with Lin or Harimoto. Even An Jae Hyun could already check his backhand. And I think Chinese coaches have realized that Falck makes a lot of unforced errors because his skills are not on par with top 5 players or maybe his pip-rubber backfires on him.

The Dictator.!! The GOAT.!! The calm composure with which he won the match will be a sight to behold for the coming generations.. There was never a player like him, never will be.. Absolute Dominance and at that age to do it three times in a row..
Ma Long is the king of the table tennis. After 7 month injury, he won two very strong tournament in a row. He had won world championships at 2015, 2017. He won again at 2019. Unbelievable. Rating means nothing. Ma is the best player (arguably the greatest player of all time). Congratulations champion.
This guy has been winning just because players nowadays have not been accustomed in dealing with short pips being used in actual tournaments. It was a case where players prepared for fast and bouncy ball exchange designed to adapt with China's table tennis standards. With Matias in the tournament, players who are used to be good in looping and driving suddenly finds themselves in trouble as short pips usually return the ball very low and modifies the speed at which the ball would normally bounce back over the other table. Any player who would win over Falck would definitely prove that they are indeed masters of the sport as they wouldn't fall to the trap of unfamiliar foes joining the tourneys. On the other hand, Matias prove that beating a specific opponent can be achieve by using methods that would make the opponent feel less comfortable and thus gaining control over game. But with Ma Long's knowledge and experience, no amount of counter would dominate his standing unless you beat him on his own game. Just like how FZD manage to beat him. Btw FZD patterned his style with Ma Long but still is a far cry from the dictators textbook performance
@@ultimatewarriorfrieza275 you really think, that they didn't trained how to play against pimples? It's all scripted lol, remember about the discussion last year to take table-tennis out of the Olympic games bcs Asia wins every time? There you go
At the age of 30 for the third time world champion. When other (chinese) players normally retire, he still overpowers and dominates his opponents with the best forehand I've ever seen and unmached flexibility. Truly the Greatest Player of all time!

Best player ever ,he can adapt so well, not only power like Fan and Harimoto, but the genius of Niwa with the chop block if needed. He has so much touch he drains some every night and keeps it in a bottle for when he needs it. Respect Ma Long !
A lot of the matches Ma Long won by that score in this tournament were closer than they appeared. The thing with Ma Long is that he still managed to rise in those crutial moments and finish the job before his opponents had a chance to fight back.
Mattias at his best could beat Ma Long. Unfortunately he's too inconsistent. Hopefully he will improve when it's time for the Olympics. He isn't even the Swedish Champion, though. Sweden is coming back to the top again it seems.

The most dominant athlete of our lifetimes. It is a privilege to watch him. That is all. PS: Bobrow talked way too much. He likes to hear his voice a bit too much lately.
@@iChriZGaming well, there is a ruge diference between a WTTC end a W. Cup. FZD couldn't manage his nerves and play well as the favorite. We simple dont know if he would be calable of beating ML without this mental game. FZD is a great player, but still has to prove himself as a world class champion if he wants to be compared with ML, ZJK, WL and Waldner.
Waldner would have taken him off his game and beaten him in many matches both at their best..Although Ma would have also won some..Waldner gave him a good fight and was kinda close when he was old and fat and semi retired when Ma was at his peak..
I play table tennis and I can imagine the sacrafice and work it took to get here.... Many people think that just because the table is small, it's not as tiring but in reality table tennis one of the hardest sports I've ever played.
Ma Long is our generation’s Waldner. 1997 - Waldner didn’t drop a set 2019 - Ma Long drops 1 set max in all his games. No one apart from these two have dominated like this in last 20 yrs.
@poortaiwanese games were slower back then with less spin, Waldner just stood there and knew how to return perfectly, he anticipated the shots unbelievably. The game has changed these days.
Congratulations to both...Ma Long for championships 3 in a row.. Mattias for Swedish and short pips players...wondering what will happen if Mattias could win the 4th round...
i think Ma Long is the best player of ALL TIME. No one plays like him. No one dominated like him. His serve is so unique. He is the most tactical player I've seen.
Ma long has one world championship more than Waldner, but Waldner has one world championship without losing a set. Also Waldner has grown up in an environment which wasn't even the half sophisticated as China is, and still he did what he did. Also, table tennis today is too different than old table tennis. So I think they are both the GOAT and they cannot be compared. Big respect for Ma Long, he's really perfect and unbeatable!
Ma Long did not give Mattias chance to counterattack . He served short , half long on the backhand and keep backhand slow searching Mattias's middle not giving constant speed and keep returns short, low over the net avoiding Mattias forehand flick . When the forehand goes cross Ma Long keep the ball very low over the net and this makes smashes inconsistent for Falck . It is the game plan of Ma Long that give him advantage , Falck can play very strong yet Ma Long won by shutting down Falck's strong weapons - powerful backhand behind the table and brilliant forehand smash when the ball is on clear forehand. Congratulations to Ma Long and his coach ! I like how fearless was Ma Long under 20 years winning by brute force and energy even when he lose it was spectacular play now days it's more using the right tools in the game for him ...
Mattias put up a good fight. Got me nervous in Games 3 and 4 when Ma Long was having trouble with the short pips receives. Really great to see Captain Long back after being injured. Thank goodness he was able to recover unlike Zhang Jike.
Ma Long is the goat and I am so happy he won. (hoping that people stop telling that Waldner is) Not only singles but also doubles with Wang Chuqin. But I think the real final game for me was vs. Liang Jingkun. That guy really was difficult to play. Incredibly athletic and strong.
ML is the undisputed GOAT. The only argument we could make now is whose the 2nd GOAT between Waldner and Zhang Jike. I would actually lean toward Zhang Jike for having more Slam titles and more domination during his reign from 2011-2014.
Ma Long' forehand is the most satisfied forehand I have ever seen, now I am confused when comparing with Wang Liqin. Moreover, Ma Long not only has stunning skills but also has a wise mind and beautiful strategy. IMO, if we want to beat Ma Long, we need both skill of Fan Zhendong and strategy of Wang Hao

Congratulations to both...Ma Long for championships 3 in a row.. Mattias for Swedish and short pips players...wondering what will happen if Mattias could win the 4th round...
MALONG is The Greatest!
Ma long - the phenomenon of table tennis
i think Ma Long is the best player of ALL TIME. No one plays like him. No one dominated like him. His serve is so unique. He is the most tactical player I've seen.
1:18 What a powerful shot by Ma Long
you can't beat him. he is too good
Ma long has one world championship more than Waldner, but Waldner has one world championship without losing a set.
You can see ML struggled against Falck's fast FH. But ML's intelligence paid off at the end.

I think this could possibly be the turning point in Ma Long's career for people to start believing that he is probably the best player of all time even surpassing the achievements of giants like Jan Ove Waldner. Respect to Ma Long, very well done!!
Falck did soo many mistakes, he gone on fire on 3rd set, and a bit on 4th but with the mistakes and he also had unlucky moments, the match was easy to ML. However ML is the best player in history, congrats to Ma Long!
ma long had so many mistakes starting in 3rd set... so far away from his prime...
Who cares
ML used various tactics to induce Falck’s mistakes. This way, he can avoid a lot of energy-wasting looping and running . ML is getting old, he cannot play the same way he played in 2015 and still stand on top.
