Quoting from a source "The Miao people, one of the most ancient nationalities in China, originated in the central plain areas along the Yellow River more than 5,000 years ago and began to master the batik fabric-making techniques during the early years of the Han Dynasty (220 BC-AD 202)." This is unlike when Indonesia and Malaysia got into dispute when Malaysian government tried to claim Javanese Batik and Reog Ponorogo as Malaysian culture. If you notice, they have their own distinct patterns different from Javanese and Torajan batik.
It's not even called as batik there. It is juts translated into it because UNESCO decided that batik is Indonesian's after Indonesian and Malaysian dispute over batik.
