...I am not aware of any other Oliver in a major production than Gwion who was 15. Keith Hamshere was 14. Perhaps Keith turned 15 before he ended his run, who knows? Gregory Bradley was also 14 in his second run.
@adam molloy.I would imagine it's because they are child actors and by law they can not be overworked. So on a gruelling tour schedule they would take turns while the others rest. It's also to allow for possible illness or injury.
Only a little bit too old. I am sure his acting more than made up for his age. Choosing Gwion for the UK Tour was a bold move on the part of Cameron Mackintosh. I only wish his voice had lasted a little longer (and someone had recorded his Where Is Love in Cardiff and put in on RUclips). There have been some rather old Dodgers - Adam Searles, Paul Bailey (16, in the Palladium production). Davy Jones on Broadway was even older. However,...
@@aquarius4953 I was mostly talking about Gwion being perhaps a little bit too old for Oliver because in the musical Oliver tells Noah Claypole that he is 11 years old and Oliver is very rarely played by someone who is 15. As I have found out since I wrote my comment 7 years ago, Keith Hamshere was actually 2 months older than Gwion when he left the role. Then I mentioned that the boys who play the Artful Dodger are often older than the boys who play Oliver.
Hahah , Sam's laughing in every shot ;) She's just so adorable!! And best Nancy ever!!
I went to see it in Edinburgh when Samantha had come back. It was perfect ♥
I swear Sebastion is just so adorable...just look at that cheerful smile!

I've come up with a musical idea. Twist and copperfield. Basically a crossover of when Oliver twist meets David copperfield when they were both young.

Why is there 3 dogers and 4 Oliver's
Because these are school children, so the same boy cannot play in every show
