I had to ride on a donut for an indefinite amount of time, say a couple of weeks until I could afford a replacement. Fast forward a year later, that ocasional knock has now become consistant and loud. It would happen when steering left, in the least bit, and is now evident when accelerating at all times. Haven't been too cognizant of my tire pressure either. My first impression was perhaps a bad axle, but am now led to believe it's due to bearing failure. As a "Subie-Newbie," I would greatly appreciate any advice on the matter. Many thanks!
I need some help on this question. Today when leaving the parking lot out of a parking spot. Instead of backing up I pulled forward through the parking spot and turning my wheels to the right. So mad at myself because I never do this. The went up the curb I wasnt going fast either. I backed my truck up slowly. My steering is still straight, the trucks drives straight and doesnt go to the left or the right. I heard a noise as I was driving on one road coming home... what are your thoughts please let me know..
Honestly? My first thought is celebrate that you don't usually do this and don't beat yourself up. Second thought, investigate the noise by doing an engine off steering wiggle with two people (video coming soon- thank you for the idea) and inspect your tires or go to a tire shop to have them inspected. Ask first, but most will do this for free.

I wish it was only minimal damage like this one but it is not drivable atm so we are out of luck. Shame we don't have a warranty on it
How fast did this person hit the curb? I back into the curb occasionally at less than 5MPH and am fine. I also make contact with the tire edge too not the rim or sidewall.
I didn't hit a curb but the people doing the asphalt on the freeway "forgot" to put a sloped ramp at the interface between raw concrete and where they put asphalt... there's a 4-5 inch heigt difference Result : BANG ! at about 75 with low profile 19inch Michelin PSSs... gaddamit
I have a 2011 Honda Accord they hit a curb with the right front. The wheel and tire were damaged I replaced the inner and outer tie rods was gonna get it aligned, but I noticed the tire is real close to the inner fender and rubs a little when I turn it all the way to the right. What do you think it might be, strut or control arm?
Hit a curb going about 15mph at a roundabout. Car strangely enough turns a lot better no (no power steering) and hopefully it stays that way after I get the wheel back aligned (have to keep the wheel at about 10 degrees right on a straight road)
Hi. My 2008 GH mazda6 hit a kerb square on at 30+mph a few weeks ago. The crossmember shifted so we backed the nuts off and moved it forwards to get the wheel alignment dialled in. Right after this was done, the car wouldn't start in Park. He advised to replace the neutral switch. First I fitted some replacement wheels from the wrecker and it took me a week or so to get around to replacing the neutral switch and that fixed the problem (starts in Park now) but I did need to shimmy it a bit on the m6 mounting bolts to get it 'Right. The day after replacing the neutral switch, the engine cut out whilst sitting in traffic. It has happened twice now in a matter of days. Battery was replaced, that wasn't the cause. From research (google) I read the fuel cut out switch can trip but that would mean the car wouldn't run at all. After the engine dies, the car can be started and driven no problem until it happens again. Could it be fuel filter, the impact allowing particulates to cause problem? Or failed crank angle or cam angle sensors? I plugged in a quality Bosch OBD2 scanner and no codes have been triggered. Reading back over my words, the stalling only began after replacing the neutral switch??

Several years ago, I hit a curb on my 2000 accord coupe v6. the impact was the front drivers wheel, and I was probably going 35-40 mph. bent the lip on my front rim and nicked the rear, blew both tires. but everything balances and checks out okay. the curb (median) was in the shape of a U and i hit it at the lower right part of the U if you can picture it, and the the wheel was turned to the right trying to avoid the curb at the time of impact. i don't think i was on the brakes at impact. the front drivers wheel is pushed back about 3/4 an inch compared to passenger. I went to the Honda dealership and they diagnosed it as a bad spindle/knuckle and they wanted $800 dollars to fix. a little over 100 in that was parts. here i am now 3-4 years later still driving with the damage. I want to get it fixed soon. Will replacing the spindle/knuckle fix the issue or at least most of the issue with the wheel being pushed back? these accords had double wishbone in the front so I'm not sure what could have gotten damaged. any help would be appreciated by anybody, thanks!
I done more than hit curb. I went into a ditch. My driver's rim is didn't break off it just went back towards the rear fender well. Thinking a bent cv axle and the spindle. A new rim is a must too. It's on a 1999 Cadillac Deville base. Any tips my friend. Anything I've might have left out. Thank you

Should I get a 4-wheel align. -it's not pulling left or right. What would you suggest ?
mate is it possible to damage the top mount that sits on top of strut i hit a curb now its making a knocking from the top mount when i push down on iti was only going about 20mph i never slid sidewards into it i kinda went into it cus they moved the sidewalk out further
Brian. I have an 08 civic coupe, I hit a curb a while ago thanks to a patch of oil. I got curb rash on the wheel, broken a piece off the front bumper and ripped the inner fender lining out. AND my curtain and passenger seat airbag deployed. Should they have deployed? It didn't feel like the impact was that big.
It's better to have them deploy than not for that kind of collision. On the one hand it sucks to have to buy new stuff, but you can't buy a new brain or skull, but your brain can make you enough money to buy a whole new car.
Asrar Cheema it’s the camber bar that moves in and out. Depending on the type of suspension you have in your car multi link, etc can be strut unlikely tho
I rolled over a curb one in my car. The front and wheels both hopped it. I forgot to straighten my wheel and went over it. The rear part of the car, where the frame is, scrapped the curb. I have a 2016 Chevy Cruze and since the curb check, I never heard no "wha wha" sounds

Did this to my 04 mustang a couple months back on the right side... 2 weeks after I got new tires. The 2 tires shredded down a bit and I looked on the inside and it seemed ok but I probably didn’t look good enough since seeing this vid so thank you! But ever since December there has been a vibrating/rattle noise going over 70mph about on Highway usually when I had my foot off the gas. But now it’s gotten worse starting at lower speeds both on and off the peddle and when I turn it sound like my car could just brake at any moment. And I care for her a lot so yeah just putting it out there. Probably an idiot for not the replacing tires too...
J elevate wanna update? I crashed my car over a month ago and wrecked the entire front end. Good news, it was just cosmetic and we finally got it up and running with new parts, besides my bumper which currently rocks drifter stitch covering the big crack on it. So yeah the curb was nothing, but it still messed up my tie rods, ball joints, and sway bar links a bit which I’ll replace soon. So that’s what really went wrong with mine:)
Hey Brian I hit my curb about 5mhp now every time I brake it makes a nasty grinding noise depends on the level of the street I am on have any idea what I might of damaged? I replaced the bearings but still makes the noise also replaced the brakes and cut the rotors still having the same issue. I am a uber driver so when I break and my passenger and it's quite embarrassing. At first that woo woo noise was there too but I believe it's gone now.
Curbs and tires don't mix with each other I try to be extremely careful with the wheels when I'm next to an curb or Just pulling into the driveway where its really hard to get into the driveway and that's why I ask someone to help me with parking the truck
My sisters wheel looks like this / 🚘l. If that makes sense, it's slanted inward. I didn't see anything obvious. she told me she got a flat tire so idk what really happen to it. Since it's like this /.. 🤔 I'd hate to just throw parts at it but it may be cheaper than taking it to a shop.
Having worked at dealerships, there are many people who still try to get repairs for curb damages under warranty. Anyway good information, learned something new. Thanks Brian.
I hit a curb today it pushed the whole car and it scared the crap out of me but it seems fine nothing happened other then the rim getting badly scratched which I’m pissed about lol but I hit it from trying to turn into the turn right lane how embarrassing never thought that would happen I was going straight so I didn’t hit it from an angle the rim and tire like went face with the curb so that’s why I think no real damage was done
Hey, it was rainy today and I couldn't see the left side of the road and unfortunately hit the edge of the "side walk" like barrier that divides both sides of the road. I almost hit it head on, but towards the edge of it, was able to swerve to the right, a bit late though and it did some damage to the alloy wheel(looks more of a moderate curb rush). No noise, car doesn't pull, but the steering wheel now needs to be about 1/4th of an inch to the left to drive straight. FYI - The speed was about 15-20MPH. Could this incident just threw alignment off, which can be re-aligned or there has to be a damage?
@@rushiljain9423 I first went to a car repair shop and they probably didn't have the latest alignment machine and caster was .5 degrees off. Service manual stated no more than .3 degrees. So I went to a good alignment shop and guy was able to correct it and his machine looked newer/better. He checked everything and there was no play. 2 shops checked. At times I do hear a single faint click when turning steering wheel to the left a bit while backing out from parking or turning from stop. I am thinking there could be a ball joint that got affected by not to the point where it is bad. I just drive like that, doesn't bother me.
Hi, my car is shaking. Like there is a broken tire but I don't see any problem with the tire. It is only obvious when I am driving slow. Like when you are parking.
I hit a curb last night that destroyed my rim and tire. I bought a new rim that's different than the others (steel, not aluminum) and a new tire and now when I drive over 60mph the car shakes. Not enough to be scary but enough to notice it. What could be causing this? I'm taking it for an alignment and an inspection while they're at it, to see if they can see anything I won't be able to. Any tips?
@@alexandriagreen9265 I assumed it was a balancing/alignment issue. When I took it in to get it aligned and the tires balanced, the mechanics showed me that the tie rods on both sides were extremely worn. I had both tie rods replaced, the alignment and balancing done, and then the car rode just fine. I assume the cause was due to the alignment being off, and the new rim being unbalanced.
Shit I hit a curb sideways with my 86 Chrysler 5th avenue. It bent both front and rear rims, destroyed the lower control arm, bent the upper control arm, and bent the whole k frame and twisted the passengers side frame rail. Also twisted the bumper and kinked the radiator support.... I replaced the k frame and got new rims and its back on the road. At least the control arms and k frame and torsion bars are all one piece. So it made fixing it easier. But I believe it was that design that made the damage so bad.
NIISB or NIIST don't really go after car makers for this kind of accident, but the lower control arm in this video did act as a mechanical fuse to protect the inner structures.
So I slid into a curb rear end first, and now when I brake, there is a pulsing in the pedal. There is also a slight "knocking" noise but only when braking. Otherwise it drives fine, no wobble, no movement in the steering wheel. What could this be?
I'm here cause I was doing an oil change and put wheel blocks behind my wheels as I have a steep drive way and when I was done I forgot to remove them and drove right over them like a complete idiot. Not sure if anything is too fucked up yet but it doesn't make any sound when driving
Wheel, bearing, and control arm. All three. The wheel is new, but the sloppy tire soap on it looked like rash so I went with it for a visual aid. His rim was actually destroyed beyond repair.
Amazing how things like this can range in robustness. I smacked the front passenger side (broadside of the tire) into a curb that i could have easily gone over at about 25-30mph and managed to have it adjust my alignment cams but luckily no other damage. The IFS on a Tacoma is a bit more robust though cause I though for sure my wheel bearing would be toast but it rotates smoothly and has no play.
Yelp... Taking that left into my neighborhood at 65mph on a 2 ton car was a stupid idea... Crazy hard under steer, gained traction at the last minute and hit one curb to the other. Just did a check and it looks like everything is fine.
you got lucky, I did the exact same thing but in rain so I went right into the curb and my front passenger wheel took the full force. Had chunks of my rim off and destroyed the suspension and sway bar. Oh under steer the cause of most AWD fuckups

Also, I'm driving an 08 impreza non turbo
I broke everything listed on this video😂😂thanks was trying to figure out what the front struts was called
Welcome!
How much was the cost man? Update??? Feel like I did to on my infinity m35
Thank you so much your video helped me very much find my problem thanks to your video
Thanks for this so very helpful.
@@briansmobile1 I checked my tire and my truck drives straight the steering wheel is straight I don't hear the noise so it probably was the road but I do know how eventually when the road tapers the truck will eventually or your vehicle will drift to the left or right
I appreciate you replying back to me I'm just real picky with my truck because I bought it brand new and I have nice tires in my truck and don't want any issues
What the heck you are into rc cars too! We need to go off roading out there one day I have a fleet of them!
Very informative. I've used your coil spring "feeler" test before after seeing one of your previous videos about it. Cool trick.
great video I learned something new!
Good info once again!
Thanks Oz!
Hello great video i need help i parked outside a supermarket then as i was leaving i pulled forward without realizing there was a curb immediately ahead heard loud noise got out of car saw car was on too of curb saw better to drive forward and so i did then parked car in empty parking place looked around the car saw no damage it was night time there were dim lights in parking lot so made the mistake is my nissan sentra ok? Where should i get it checked? I am going for oil change will they look when i tell them what happened?
Thank you sir. Some dummy cut me off causing me to hit a curb head on. Heavily suspect my control arm is bent
I Feel that, bought a new car and this happened on my way home from work. Gotta love Michigan
Me to
I would add the spindle to the list. Stress marks on the surface rust will indicate that it is bent.
Can you do a video about the rear end. I have a 08 Tahoe that I've bent something. Not sure of it's a axle or what
I just ran over a curb and blew a tire the tow guy said we broke a plate as the tire wouldn't turn when I had the wheel turned all the way over. So I got stuck on the sidewalk from making a uturn too fast and I skimmed the guard rail too. Hopefully my dad can get it fixed.
Slid into a curb going like 20-25 mph in snow everything looks fine alignment feels fine mabey tiny bit off is it worth checking out?
Can you sustain a whiplash/concussion if you hit a curb with your tire , travelling around 35 mph ?
Very helpful thanks
Good video thank you
I didn't hit a curb but the people doing the asphalt on the freeway "forgot" to put a sloped ramp at the interface between raw concrete and where they put asphalt... there's a 4-5 inch heigt difference Result : BANG ! at about 75 with low profile 19inch Michelin PSSs... gaddamit
My wheel got pushed in a bit from the top part. I saw my sway bar end link damaged but would that really be the reason my wheel is pushed in?
Great video! It helped me to explain to my girlfriend. Keep on it!
I have a 2016 accord sport and I hit a curb, they changed the lower control arm at Honda, but my steering wheel is hard to turn now
what would cause the front end links to rub on the side of the frame oem suspension
Reading back over my words, the stalling only began after replacing the neutral switch??
jumped a curb doing 80 khm straight on in a 2002 s10 xtreme... oddly enough i feel like only the exhaust was damgaed.... it was snowy and the engine way was so packed with snow it was impeading motor..
Great video
the back of my wheels hit one when i was turning a corner slowly, do u think it'll be ok?
thanks for the video 👍👍
I wish I had the magic or experience to say. LIke anybody else I'd have to look at it to tell.
speed bumps in mexico are so horrible i need to watch hitting curb videos
I done more than hit curb. I went into a ditch. My driver's rim is didn't break off it just went back towards the rear fender well. Thinking a bent cv axle and the spindle. A new rim is a must too. It's on a 1999 Cadillac Deville base. Any tips my friend. Anything I've might have left out. Thank you
I just slammed on brakes and hit the right side of the curb going like 30
Also everything seems fine with the car should I take it in to get checked
The curb was smaller than most and my car sits rather high
same playing waiting game
Brian, I'm having trouble locating that "whah-whah-whah" noise on my '06 explorer.I've replaced my old expired tires with 2 brand new and 2 -2017 tires.I had the upper ball joints repl. 2 years ago and had the wheels bearings repl. on all 4 wheels 2 years ago.
I hit a curb going about 55mph I know for sure that,I broke my cv axle but my front wheel is bent inwards what else did I break
😂😂😂😂😂
Hit a curb on right side now left turns are hard to make takes two hands to turn the wheel can it be the inner tie rods bent
Great Vid Brian. Well done. Have you put up my number plate of the the old Massey Ferguson yet? Would love to see a pic of your display of plates.
I hit a curb going pretty fast. After my front wheel has a lot of negative camber and not even alignment can fix it. What can it be?
I have the same problem ... I think the strut tower moves outward slightly and vice versa the lower control arm ...
This felt more like a check list currently, we might just be bringing her to a shop LMAO
I just bashed my bimmer into the curb messed up my lower control arm and blew the tire probably more damage that I can't see
so what was the symptom for this Mazda ?
Droning sounds and alignment issues.
I hit a ditch, and bent one of the rear control arm: I have changed it,but the wheel is still some crooked. What is wrong?, or do you have a video?
What if you jumped the curb losing control it did a number on the fender mounting area lol what should I look for I drive the car for a few days and didn’t notice anything car was straight no noise nothing p
i was racing to an exit and it came up and theres a curb and i was going like 60 mph and i hit the curb with my wheel made a loud bang but didnt bend the wheel or do anything it drove find but now when i drive over bumps on the drivers side it kind of makes a knocking noise what is that
That's a hell of a good question!
Shit this just happened to me today!, But I have a f-250, so I assumed their wheels are more sturdy, I checked & nothen, Nothing was damaged, but I’m still concerned 💀
Hey Brian regards, what truck is this a traxxas slash or ??? do you still flying rc helicopters?
I still have most of my Trex collection- any time I have time and good air I fly my paramotor. The truck is a Tamiya CR-01 with a Ram 2500 body on it and some other mods.(crawler) Off cammera is an Invictus Reaktor.(back flipping fast with lipo brushless upgrades)
Any update I recently hit a curb , bent my right rear tire
J elevate wanna update? I crashed my car over a month ago and wrecked the entire front end. Good news, it was just cosmetic and we finally got it up and running with new parts, besides my bumper which currently rocks drifter stitch covering the big crack on it. So yeah the curb was nothing, but it still messed up my tie rods, ball joints, and sway bar links a bit which I’ll replace soon. So that’s what really went wrong with mine:)
@@thecoolness317 dam bro glad everything went ok, I recently crashed against a curb but it was just my back right rear tire 🚘\ tilted pretty bad
@@thecoolness317 i have a feeling I'm going to have to get new alignment and axel , how much u think I'm looking at?
Hey Brian I hit my curb about 5mhp now every time I brake it makes a nasty grinding noise depends on the level of the street I am on have any idea what I might of damaged? I replaced the bearings but still makes the noise also replaced the brakes and cut the rotors still having the same issue. I am a uber driver so when I break and my passenger and it's quite embarrassing. At first that woo woo noise was there too but I believe it's gone now.
If you have a FWD car and your CV axle wasn't tight your inner hub races can separate. Check your spindle nut torque first.
I've got this issue.. Do you deal with aftermarket radios
The setup looks about the same as this vehicle it's a ford escape. I'm aiming towards the strut assembly. Since it's like this /.. 🤔 I'd hate to just throw parts at it but it may be cheaper than taking it to a shop.
Having worked at dealerships, there are many people who still try to get repairs for curb damages under warranty.
Anyway good information, learned something new. Thanks Brian.
Freeman Gordon you have better luck trying to go through your insurance.
Nice Job!
Update? Somewhat similar happened with my accord. No damage to the outside though
Also, it happened after I went over a curb.
good video...Merry Christmas to e1
I hit a curb last night that destroyed my rim and tire. I bought a new rim that's different than the others (steel, not aluminum) and a new tire and now when I drive over 60mph the car shakes. Not enough to be scary but enough to notice it. What could be causing this? I'm taking it for an alignment and an inspection while they're at it, to see if they can see anything I won't be able to. Any tips?
Hi I was just wondering…what ended up being the problem?
I think you disc or rim is bent.. or something is loose
probably alignment as well
I'm here cause I was doing an oil change and put wheel blocks behind my wheels as I have a steep drive way and when I was done I forgot to remove them and drove right over them like a complete idiot. Not sure if anything is too fucked up yet but it doesn't make any sound when driving
The most common thing is the cords breaking in the tire causing a bubble in it. I see that all the time.
what if you run over the curb, i try to park my car in drive but it run over curb and i hear sound
Smashy smashy curb rashy rashy. So did the driver get away with just wheel and control arm damage?
My right rear got messed up and is tilted towards the inside
Same thing happened to me , any update???
How much did it cost to repair??
I hit a curb but I was going 5mph would it be ok?
I think so... I hit at 10 or 15 mph... It seems okay.. but still worried
Just got a truck and keep hitting/going over the curb when making a right turn
