    I am an aussie and proud of this bloke. I love all his songs. They range from pathos to delightful comedy. As a collection they represent a picture of this country - its history, culture and challenges. He is one the world's great poets.

      I think he must be the greatest songwriter ever, other musicians think the same if you look up the Dubliners version it’s class and Shane McGowan version of Waltzing Matilda 😢both would bring tears to your eyes

    My absolute number ONE singer songwriter. No one can match him for emotion in his songs. " My sons lie beside the Burma Railway ' I've seen it,, pure hell.

    I am a Scottish brewer and I have to admit to having brewed Australian beer (a long time ago) under licence. At that time I was designated a grade A taster - allowed to release beer for packaging on my own. I moved on from there and in the following years helped two different British brewers (one in England and one in Scotland) to win gold medals for lager in international competition so maybe I did learn something from the Aussies...

    Saw Eric at Westhoughton Folk Club over ten years ago..... Felt it a privilege then and still do!

    Have to say, this particular song, is way better pre-recorded. But i love Eric. He's an amazing song writer!...
    Not to mention he's a funny bastard!!!!
