    Recently, vertical fins are appearing on MotoGP motorcycles. What is their function and above what speed(s) would need to be attained for them to make a noticeable difference from no vertical fins at all? Thank you.

      @Ramon51650 you are right, the vertical fins on the MotoGP's tails are a relatively new introduction. We all knew that the introduction of "something" on the rear part of the prototypes was just a matter of time! 😀 Their function is to provide a bit of load on the rear wheel (load means grip!). We can't of course provide any sensitive data (like the load related to the speed), but we can tell you that the forces playing here are not huge (it is a little improvement). The presence of the rider's body in fact mitigates the downforce available. They can help in the straight and during braking. They also grab the attention which is a positive factor for all the producers that compete in a MotoGP Championship! 😉
