I think it is a Russian BMP 3 taking out a Ukrainian bmp. I think the bmp that got destroyed initially fired on its on vehicle but immediately realized it was firing on its own troops so it stopped firing. That's why you only see one shot. Also, we haven't really seen the Russians using BMP-2s in Kursk. Mostly BMP-3s.

UPD.
"In the village of Russkaya Konopelka in the Kursk region, confusion occurred, the instigator of which was the Ukrainian Kozak-2, which collided almost point-blank with a Russian armored vehicle. All the cards were confused by another Russian infantry fighting vehicle that rolled into the line of fire. As a result, the stunned Russians of the first BMP began to hit everything, turning the second one into scrap metal with “brotherly fire.”
Dear readers, unfortunately, we misled you. After watching the full video, it becomes clear that our BMP came under attack. It withstood the shelling, our soldiers were able to get out and disperse under the cover of trees, but then they were bombarded with drones. There were wounded, at least three dead. We will not provide the full video. Those who want to can find it themselves.

Well you're also not a military officer so why would you expect to see anything? There are tons of potential reasons, we just don't know which one it is.
Russia is very bad at maneuver warfare, initiative and responding to a changing battlefield. They're very good at frontal gradual grinding warfare.
Just based on that, it might be a good idea to throw a curveball and force Russia into a dilemma. Let's say you have a reserve formation of 2000 troops and equipment. If you judge that those reserves will not make a difference to stop the Russian advance on 1 front, you can throw them in another place and force the Russians to make a decision to lose their own territory or to turn some of their focus towards this other area, which will slow or halt the momentum in the first front.
Whether it works or not is another matter, but it's a very logical and reasonable move. And that might not even be the reason, it's just one of the many potential ones.

The russian could put pilot in training in some sort of new Yak 3 enhanced with a small radar, a radio to contact ground and some small arms (50 cal machinegun should be enough.) . A dozen may be enough to protect an airfield. This way, they destroy these swarm of drone for a low cost, and keep their costly AA for the real missiles.

Slowly it's dawning on the Russians that Ukraine will still be in Kursk come the start of 2025, because Russia quite simply lacks the means to push them out without withdrawing a very large number of experienced, volunteer troops from Ukraine. Conscripts lack the training and fighting spirit to push out the Ukrainians. Besides, the death of large numbers of conscripts would cause huge unrest inside Russia, because Putin promised that conscripts would not be engaged in front-line fighting. Moreover, if you look at map of Kursk to the east and south of the Seym River - an area that Ukraine will soon fully occupy - it is surrounded on 3 sides by Ukraine, with the other side protected by the river itself, across which there are no more bridges. It will take a Russian huge force, suffering massive casualties, to re-capture this areas,

No. Range depending on what you load them with. All falling within the short range category, under 1000km. Believe theax range they can load goes 500km. But better ask an expert.

I really dont understand why Russian are still deploying the planes so close to the frontline; if they move about 300-400km back (approx 30min of flight time) it will significantly reduce the losses. Or they can move the maintenance back from the front and keep all the combat-ready frames on the front might be another solution.

Fighter bomber payload is limited by distance (need to carry more fuel instead) and Russia doesn’t do air refueling, plus sortie rate is also severely limited by distance.

    • @SanarySeggnete
      @SanarySeggnete 2 месяца назад

Less deploy time, mean less reaction time for the anti-air systems. Those planes can fly to the sky, drop their bombs then run before the Anti Air could even deploy from their hiding spots. And none would be able to keep the long range anti-air system full-time ready in this drone age, it's like asking to be killed, so both sides deployed many sabotage groups with the only duty of watching over the airfield from a distance with binocular and warn them every time enemy fighter take off.

What a waste of Ukrainian lives and weapons in Kursk when they could have helped the retreating frontline in Ukraine. Surely they knew Russia would send more troops and push them back towards their blown up bridges. What a mess!

What's this false concern about Ukrainian lives.
The fact that Putin is now using conscripts shows that Putin is losing manpower.
He is now drawing on the dregs because he's too frightened that a general mobilisation will spark a revolt.
But using conscripts is hugely unpopular.
