I go so back and forth on MO…just holding for now. This was a fantastic breakdown man 👏
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks Ryne!!
I agree!
I go back and forth on it as well, I'm a long time dividend holder/investor. If I don't love it, I don't buy it. The biggest reason I don't buy MO is because of what they sell. In America cigarettes are dieing out, e cigarettes are going to follow. They have jacked the taxes up on products here. And I live in all lower state. You go to places like New York, California, and Florida those prices are 2-3 times what they are here. I see the industry as a whole dropping and dieing unless they adapt to something else. I'm glad I've never bought it, and I most likely never will.
you only lose on Altria. S&P500 is up 181% last 10 years. Altria is up only 10% last 10 years. This doesn't even beat the inflation for those years. it's dividend trap
I'm hoping Altria gets into the cannabis business to further expand portfolio.
I’ve been putting 100$ a week into Altria for almost a year now. I’ll have 100 share in 3 weeks
Nice. Peesonally, I invest in a stock to the point where each dividend payout can buy at least one new share then move to the next one. I'm a fan of Altria.
MO is the best. Love my quarterly payout, makes me want to smoke a cig lol
Best comment 😂
Haha
It will never stop paying dividends it does better than apple as far selling it’s products
I think it's best to treat $MO as a solid income generator in comparison with CC ETFs like JEPQ or even SPYI but more stable. I DCA into my position in $MO and will continue to do so until I hit a significant amount per year in dividends at a 5-6% allocation in my portfolio.
I've owned MO since the 90's. Great stock for me.
Great information. I sold out of my 80 shares a couple of weeks back in my Roth above cost basis but am buying it back slowly now that it’s down
Great content!
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for your observations on MO….
Useful information! 🙂
Awesome information! 👏
I wish he would have run the numbers to see what would happen to Altria's share count if they bought back shares will the whole InBev sale. It was theoretically described, but wjat is thr true impact?
Great stock and will continue to acquire shares in the low 40’s. The share buyback should lead to an increase in the stock price over the next year.
This was a great review!! I’m very close to starting a position.
I'm always hesitant to enter into this stock. Its a great pay me now, but not the greatest grow and pay me long term. I would rather diversify with it in an ETF that limits the exposure a bit. But a 9% div is hard to ignor
I used to have MO (among others) for the dividends, but sold all my position recently. I don't see its dividend being sustainable for long imo. Nowdays I prefer quality and growth over quantity. I might lose some good opportunities, but not falling in yield traps again. But that's just my opinion, not a expert, not a financial advisor ✌️
I'm right there with you. I've been hesitant, but am very seriously considering putting some money into $MO in my Roth, at least in a small position. Every time any of us walk into a gas station, the clerk is standing between you and a wall of cigarettes behind them. Those wouldn't be in stores if people weren't buying them, so smoking isn't going away anytime soon.
Humans will always use substances, especially nicotine lol
Lol great pay me now it's been paying for multiple years even while smoking has trended down they still have massive profits from the 90s😂
They have been paying and growing their dividends for 50 years 😂
forgive my ignorance with this question: what is your logic to determining the discount rate? I know it can be calculated, there are numerous sites that can calculate it on the fly. there is always a fairly broad spectrum of values. my issue is: this value has a huge influence of the final values that the dividend discount model and DCF end up spitting out. appreciate any insights you can share. maybe also an idea for a future video?
Could you do BATS, please?
They also have securities of Anheuser-Busch and Cronos (Cannabis). I like this stock I have and I feel comfortable having for its safe returns and low volatility.
Your breakdows have improved a lot with more fundamentals! Always learn new things with your videos and your Spreadsheets look better as well.
However I have to mention that: Altria again?! 😅🤣 I would love to see a new stock like ADM. Thank you very much!
Thanks! I’ll have to dig into ADM more. I’m not as familiar with them.
I keep on buying every week. Going to keep buying until 1k shares, maybe more. Then just hold. Unless a large dip then I'll get more.
Just put $175,000 into Altria. A beautiful dividend to supplement my pension in three years!
Hello ! Would it be possible for you to do a Solvay SA (SOLB - Euronext) stock analysis ? David Einhorn just used it as an example as to why it would be a good stock to buy and i was wondering if it would be also good one for a dividend oriented portfolio as it has high dividend yield ? Anyway, great video as usual !
Overhated stock imo. Definitely a value play, I’ll look to sell if we get to 55-60 range.
Weed legalization would be clutch for them 🙏
Great and informative video! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Added to current position
Big coppin more Vici today at 28.50 baby we own the sphere let's goooo
🔥
I started investing with Altria, but the opportunity cost over the years got to me.
I was getting paid fairly well but I wanted to pivot those gains into something that would grow as well as pay me.
Love your videos! Can you do one on Cisco?
Thanks for providing valuable information....how do I download some of your analytical graphs? Thx great stuff!!
You can download them on TickerData.com! Link in description.
Thanks a lot.
Can we see an analysis of Dava(endava), please?
thanks in advance!
Good analysis but 90% of MO's current sales are cigarettes, which, as you mentioned, are a declining market. My guess is its smokeless products, at a much smaller percentage of total sales , aren't growing fast enough to compensate for the decreasing cigarette sales. Even though management says it plans to use a high percentage of FCF to pay dividends, my concern is they really have few options. Thanks for your thoughtful and thorough analysis. Also a SA fan.
BTI BTI BTI
Could you do a video on Phillip Morris vs Altria vs BTI? I think PM is compelling with Zyn but BTI has a low negative P/E ratio that could change soon. Curious what you think. I placed 10% into BTI but that was after a 5% gain from MO
Hey brother, fellow investor here wanting to hear your take on USAC and ET. I'm personally an energy dividend guy and these have done great for me but I want to know if its sustainable long term. If you see this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Does Rule of 72 still applies if stock price is dropping?
Rule of 72 would be calculated based on your own personal cost basis per share. Decrease your Cost Basis which will increase your dividend yield % and thus decrease the time needed to double.
@Dividendology - What do you think of PM , APLE and ADC ?
made a video on ADC just a few days ago
Their sales are decreasing, but free cash flow and demand for cigarettes are stable, so I think it's a good stock if there's no dividend cut.
I prefer MO
Brand new investor here, I can only make minimal investments a month in my current situation. Is it better to purchase as much of 1 stock as possible or invest in multiple companies at less fractional? All eggs in one or eggs in multiple for my situation?
I would buy Altria, but atleast also schd or some etf
Multiple Valuation? Certainly would've lowered the average of your four.
Do you own MO?
I do own some. You can see my holdings in my monthly portfolio updates.
The real question is: "why MO over BATS?"
Wonder if they'll get into cannabis.
I just sold off all my MO holdings about 2 weeks ago. Wanted to reallocate funds in my retirement to monthly paying income ETFs.
MO is my largest position @ 14.4% so I am nervous to add to it even though these prices seem below fair value. But if MJ ever goes Federal I think Altria would heavily benefit. Seems like a matter of time but I dont want to gamble on that sort of thing.
14.4% is a large allocation. I personally wouldn't be adding more.
use to hold it, sold it all cause i realize 2 things, they may not be around in 8-10 years and i have a 15-20 year time horizon. they will have to cut their dividend at some point in the future.... its just not a sustainable model long term
So why not take advantage of 6-8 years and reap the benefits during that time. You could always use the dividends to purchase other stocks every quarter. 100 shares gives you $98 per quarter, where 100 shares of Coke gives you about $68, and Coke currently cost more. Even if the dividend grows by 1%, that gets you $1.10 per share around year 6. That's a pretty good cash cow to help build your other stock choices. Just my 2 cents.
@@urbanprospector3007 I agree. I turned off my drip and will allocate to other stocks for a while. ~150 shares so it’s like a little quarterly helper
I regret selling my whole position 😢
Yeah, its a pass
Well please explain why, I'm curious
@@wolfknightlord Sure, in my opinion MO just isn't growing. Revenues have been flat and even as Dividendology mentioned, the vaping market is growing at very high rates but Altria can't seem to capitalize on any of that. That being said, if they prove that they can grow the business, meaning revenue and earnings growth as well as market share in the new smokeless market, then they might become a good dividend stock. Hope that helps explain why.
just sold out, at a 10% loss.
bought all into sofi.
I doubled my money in 3 weeks with Nvidia. Why wait 8 years? :))
That’s awesome! Be careful not to half your money in 3 weeks also 😬. Best of luck!
Because the opposite can happen too.
Good contrarian indicator to sell NVDA and buy MO
Nice analysis. But I don't think I want to invest in MO. Thanks.
No. BTI or PM much better imho
I’m not against sin stocks but I am going to choose to leave this one alone.
In the land of the free people hide to smoke a cigarette. There is too much political tension here for me.
However there have been a few politicians that have been buying these shares.
double your money? you only lose on Altria. S&P500 is up 181% last 10 years. Altria is up only 10% last 10 years. This doesn't even beat the inflation for those years. Wake up. it's dividend trap
No. No. Bad company.
Thug Life Investing. MO lets go
with a company like altria, it needs a 50% safe margin. mostly becauyse of the stock price never going up no matter what. better off investing in visa for better total return
