- Undertale has pretty cool music, so I wanted to make a remix. I had to choose a style of song that would fit the sensibilities of the Megadrive's sound synth.
I'm like 95% sure you could make this song on actual Megadrive hardware, as I tried to follow all the limitations of the device.

A song original made with SNES sound fonts has a genesis version. We've come full circle
The Genesis' Yamaha synth-chip honestly makes it sound better. It always better at stuff composed for synthesizers.
Actually, most, if not all or Undertale's music was made in FL Studio.

The character models need to rotate, which the genesis can't do to my knowledge.

The first 16 seconds made my jaw drop. Wow. Some of the intensity of the song was lost throughout the rest of the song, but not much. This sounds amazing.

Gotta say even though people seem to prefer the SNES sound chip. I really feel that this song strongly benefits from the Genesis sound board! This is the best 8 bit/16 bit remix of this song I have heard thus far!

Genocide City comes from the fact that a scrapped zone got named Genocide City Zone because the developers thought it sounded cool without knowing what it actually means, changing it to Cyber City Zone before scrapping it altogether and merging elements of it into Metropolis

Almost 200,000 views! I'm pretty astonished.
I haven't come up with other Genesis remixes as of late because honestly, it's a lot of work and it gets quite tedious. Right now I've been working on Death By Glamour (of which I accidentally posted a version with template notation lol) and Bergentruckung. Not all songs sound good as they are when converted into a Genesis style, so there's quite a lot of work in that as well; you have no idea how much I agonize over the ambient strings in Bergentruckung!
Thank you, everyone, for listening to this song (and Boneprocessing as well). I'm glad to see other people like the Megadrive's fart choirs as well.

Thank you! I use FL studio with the plugins GennyFL, YM2612 and Sytrus. The Genesis used audio samples for drums, voice clips etc, and I found a big pack of them from the net.

Sooorta kinda. I mean you will get a lot of samey sounds if you use the same insturmentation and similar tempo regardless, but the two aren't that alike. It's mostly the soundfont and speed making your brain going 'waaiiit wtf?'

Isn't original (not original original, but from Undertale) Megalovania was used with Genesis sound font?
It was originally composed by Toby for his earthbound Halloween edition, then remastered for homestuck, then remastered again for undertale.
MrAppleSalad I know it's story and I've been talking about Undertale version.
+TheNemesis432 The Undertale version uses the Earthbound soundfont electric guitar. That sound WAS made with FM emulation though, which the Genesis/Megadrive uses for sound synthesizing!
OJSeve Thanks for explaining! That's what I actually been needed. So that's why I get Genesis vibe from original, because it was made partially by the same soundfont that Genesis used.
