Great job, Sir. You not only showed the keys to be played, but demonstrated music theory knowledge in spelling out the chords. That will help me immensely.
Thank you. Some people are challenged with melodies so if it's easy for you, you have a talent. This tutorial was something I made for fans of Tori Amos four years ago, and to my shock it went semi-viral. I'm sure by now there are other tutorials that can help more fully with the chords. Best to you.
Oh my Lord why would you bother doing this when you get such hatred from some in their comments...I just don't get why folks feel the need to be so abusive. It's just a dude putting a bit of music on RUclips ffs! Personally, I have zero musical talent but am now almost playin DM on a .69p app on my iPad and it sounds pretty damn cool. So thanks wbarreguy!!
Thanks for posting this. Excellent job. Now I know how to play my all time favorite song! Regarding all the negative comments that have been posted here, you've handled them with dignity. Unfortunately many folks love to leave negative, nasty remarks. It's a shame. Anyway, great work!
I love this song! And I have to say tat you is one of the people that makes it sound good om piano :3 Realy easy to understand, and it will be easy to write it down (my computer is om a different floor than the piano) thank you so much for uploading
Good stuff, man. I really liked that. Very similar to the original track. Of course, original track has more electro effects, etc. But as the main melody, it is just brilliant. Thanks for the tutorial and keep going on this.
@fedrmihalich The song is set in c minor. The eb minor chord is alien to the key signature. The note g is natural in c minor. The songwriters borrow gb from an alien key signature to expand the song's chord vocabulary. It's very effective in this song. Hope that helps.
First of all, thank you very much for taking the time and effort to upload this! A little constructive criticism: you might want to focus a little more on the chords rather than the melody? For a pianonoob as myself, learning the chords is essential and once those are sorted the melody takes care of itself as its not that complicated. I too got lost among the chords in the later part of the tutorial, but this was perhaps intended for people with more than a rudimentary knowledge of pianoplaying
Thank you. People are free to say whatever they want, but keep in mind this is a Tori Amos inspired channel. To be fair though, Enjoy the Silence is probably my least favorite cover she has done. Rattlesnakes, Real Men, and many others are fantastic though.
Nice job on teaching my friend! Thanks for sharing your music knowledge! i like the songs crazy chord progression and melody! I'll gave this song a try!
I love it to, thank you very much, I'm listening to your video now, your piano sounds really good, I use a Roland s 88 and Kurzweil PC3x, it sounds the best so far. I have a degree in music, I read on the spot and play by ear and I can easily see and hear why some people have such a problem. I would certainly incourage you to work at playing and learning to read. Reading opens far more up than you can imagine. Keep making your video's since they help other's so. Cheers.
@DepMod92 A Bb is not a root chord at all, a B is though. If you play guitar, figure the song out on that and then play the same chords on your piano. It does work.
@Stoney3K There is no problem with criticism or a thoughtful discussion as you're commencing here. On the other hand, communicating with pretense is a sign of bad character. You may have missed the poster's original remarks and he ultimately was not blocked. There are many people both online and offline who can communicate competently and with decency. Those who cannot do not belong on this channel. Hopefully that helps explain your concerns.
thank you for this great tutorial - I really love this interpretation of enjoy the silence. one of the most melodic pieces of music I ever heard. I was able to follow you on the most parts of this tutorial, but the closer the video gets to the end, I did not get and see most of the chords and notes. I would be so thankful If you could post the notes also here in the comments or the description of the video. Or maybe someone else could? I would be thankful a 1000 times... So Far, thank you a lot and never mind the haters - just ignore, they are not worth to spend a second on their comments.
@GraveRiot I don't know if I've ever heard that, when did it come out? I have mainly just listened to Depeche when they first came out in the mid to late 1970's I think, it was when the rest of the electronica music was happing.
You're welcome. I have to condense everything when I make tutorials because of the time limits on the videos here. If there was unlimited time, I could be more slow and deliberate.
@canaan1967 It looks like I may have been doing a bit of improv; I'm not sure as this video is two years old. The first one looks to be C+F+Ab, which would be an f minor chord in second inversion. (the melody includes the note d, which would technically suggest d half diminished in 3rd inversion, aka d42) The second is Ab9. Then c7. Then Eb7 in 2nd inversion, it looks to be functioning like a Bb with suspensions. I wouldn't worry about the exact permutations though, as it was just improv.
I am not sure. I think there may be something about the way "congratulations" is translated in other languages, and maybe something customary about the greetings from different countries, if they are from Europe, Australia, or East Asia.
what a great tutorial! thanks! but can someone help me with the c-minor chord at 4:42? i just cant see the pressed keys unfortunately and I have absolutely no clue about notes and plaing piano... i am just starting!!! :) please help, this is such a great song!
thank you soooo much!!now i am gonna be able to play it on piano AND sing it of course...i am really grateful!!in contrast my friends are gonna curse you cause i am gonna play it to them all the time...lol..just kidding... greetings from Greece...
@Stoney3K The problem is that I made some suggestions about the persons playing and found out quite quickly that he does not have a degree in music, I do! He does not want to be told he is wrong at all. There is no problem really, two people exchanging ideas but one person very young and the other much older and far more experienced. In this case, I am write about the music. I teach, conduct, write scores for symphonies, and TV programs and look at these videos when I have a minute, not often.
I have a piano. It's in a central location and I don't film anything on it, or really even play it that often anymore. I don't understand your other complaint.
Great job, Sir. You not only showed the keys to be played, but demonstrated music theory knowledge in spelling out the chords. That will help me immensely.
Your combination of talent and teaching ability is a gift. I love Tori and DM, and am practicing what's you've taught. Well done!

This video rules. Helpful for people like me who don't really have music talent but love to play music.

I thank you for this great lesson, I always wanted to play this song , now thanks to you I am able to. You made it very simple. God Bless.
Thank you! That was a very thoughtful comment. I appreciate it.

Great tutorial. I felt like playing this today and now I can. 👍
Awesome to hear! Thank you.
Golly, how I love the internet. Have a good morning.

Well done. Appreciated. Long term Depeche fan finding the keys....
Thank you. It's a very good song so I hope you enjoy playing it.

Amazing. Congratulations from Italy!
@janotosinnumeros It's the Depeche Mode version. This was originally an all Tori Amos channel and everything on it related to her.
keep doing such a good job man! hope to play piano like u do one day!

Thank you. I've been playing for over a decade, though I took a break for a while when in school.
You're welcome! Glad to hear it helped.
Thank you. I will take that into consideration if I make another tutorial. F minor is f + ab + c, together.
Top stuff Brian!
Oh! Thank YOU! Do you know how many weird videos I watched before I found yours. This is decent- no, this is very nice.
Would you mind making a tutorial of Billy Idol "Eyes Without a Face" please?
That would really be lovely.
Reallyyyy wanna learn that song!
Thanks mate, you just made my friends jealous! xD
It took my like 3 days to memorize the whole thing, but it was worth it 5/5
It's been 11 years

I think it was just the straight up piano setting on the Roland XP-10, called Piano 1.
thank you for this great tutorial - I really love this interpretation of enjoy the silence. one of the most melodic pieces of music I ever heard.

Johannes Böhm Thank you. It's been so long since I made the video I don't remember all the details offhand.
@fuzzplay Ooooh, that's a tricky one cause the pulse of that song is so sophisticated. I'm not even kidding! :-)
Just wish I had half you talant. Nice sound dude.
That was great, thank you so much for sharing!

@canaan1967 Thanks. This is a good song and is probably worth revisiting in a performance again.
good question. from the philippines
@jess4less It's alien to the key signature. The relative major would be Gb.
That's ok. Hope all's well.
Thanks a lot:) Can you tutorial for song Depeche Mode-Come back? It will be nice from your side. Nice job
Thanks. It's a Roland XP-10.
My condolences.
