- This was my last performance as a boy soprano / treble, because my vocal range and my voice have changed a lot in summer 2021. I performed Mozart's Laudate Dominum at the Wonderfeel Festival on July 16, 2021. Despite the fact that I can not sing high easily as I used to, I am so happy with all the things that I have achieved in my boy soprano career and I am grateful for the beautiful experiences! I will continue to sing in a lower register as a tenor / baritone.

Roy, to be blessed with gift of singing and knowing when the time has come -puberty would often lowers the ability to hit the highs. It has been a delightful journey with lots of sacrifices in having to practice practice practice. It is truly a very special moment lasting maybe 5-7 yrs depending on when you started. Those were glorious memories to be had. Something tells me you will not stop since your voice has changed, you will continue and be a better tenor. Roy, you have what we say -the star quality where your soul speaks the language of music. Many were able to hit the high notes technically however, in your case, your soul vibrations carried out via the vocal cords so that the frequency of love and passion were shared and felt by all. This is why once in a blue moon, a voice which touches the souls of the audience, is special. You have that gift and so please treasure this for the rest of your life journey. When you sing the universal energy from above transmit through your head into your heart chakra and finally burst forth from the quivering of your vocal cords - in perfect harmony, in perfect vibrational frequency of love and passion. Treasure this young man and share as much as you can because with your voice, you heal people emotionally, mentally and spiritually... that is an awesome gift...be IN the light, be OF the light and BE THE LIGHT !!!

This brings to mind when I sang Ave Verum Corpus as a boy. The nuns taught us well, and I still can sing a strong tenor. God bless Roy!
I've been told that both my father and his brother sang this 80 years ago when they were the soloists in their cathedral choir. Beautiful piece of music and one I always enjoy hearing. Good luck on your continuing career in singing (dad became a baritone, his brother a tenor although neither sung professionally when they were older, the war probably had something to do with that though).

We must remain numerous and stick together
so that the chain does not break.
Privileged to have caught this in time. Beautifully performed & I trust you will continue to use your years of training & practice to enhance & hone your adult voice.
I am especially pleased to have caught this today on my late mother's 103rd birthday. It feels like a gift for her. Music is what we had most in common & we always shared (often on the phone when far apart) our most special 'finds' like this - your voice tone is so rich.
Though my mother's family were professional singers & musicians (violin mostly) I did not receive the gift. Like my non-musical father I just cannot find the right notes (nor have the voice) to play or sing. So I have some experience of how it will feel to have music in your soul but not the ability to sing. For now you have touched my soul so I trust it will be soon that your voice returns & you can sing like an angel once again.
If you ever make recordings I shall have your name at the front of my mind mind. Whether the lady who went in front was your mother or your music-mistress I could feel her justified love, pride & delight in those precious moments. I congratulate & wish you success in your choice of future. Dee 🇮🇪

Good thing you recorded it. When a boy's voice changes, it's drastic. I remember being able to scream at high pitches when I was a young lad. Now I sound like a contrabassoon.

Just so you know boys, women also lose their high vocal range as they get older. Enjoy what you have now, and what is to come. Life offers you so many choices. Good job on singing. We need male singers in choirs. Enjoy your vocal gifts.

Thank you for sharing this Roy. I have attended many concerts and Several Festivals in Bad Toelz. I always feel a touch of melancholy when we lose the Boys voice and feel a deep sadness whenever I listen to the magnificent voices of the past. With some soloists, I have been able to detect an increased richness in the tones shortly before the change, It is pleasing that you have gained so much personal satisfaction from singing and hopefully, you will be blessed with a "New" voice soon.

I am so sorry your voice has begun to change Roy. When my treble voice dropped so many years ago I was a very sad boy. But thankfully you have all those beautiful RUclips videos of your performances to enjoy. RUclips hadn't been invented when I was a boy. Now as one door closes, a bright new door opens with wonderful musical opportunities just waiting for you. Thanks for sharing your beautiful and special voice with us. I hope it won't be too long before you're singing again in your new register.

@@RoyvanVugt It's easy to see you love singing. Now just let your voice settle into its new register. I'm sure your singing teacher is already taking you carefully along the right path. If you want to look at videos of another excellent boy treble who is now singing baritone, check out Aksel Rykkvin here on RUclips. He's good at answering questions too. I really do have great memories of my time as a treble. After my voice broke it finally settled into baritone range. My singing teacher eventually got me to audition for a cathedral choir in my city and I had some wonderful years there.

You can be a tough guy and still have a tender heart that can be touched by beauty. Look at all the tough guys who built the magnificently beautiful cathedrals of Europe! I doubt they were pussycats! And they knew beauty that flowed out of them into stones of such loveliness!

I saw this and then listened to all your clips. Most impressive for the beauty of the tone, perfect intonation, and your sense of ‘fraseggio’, complete with sophisticated ornamentation. You have the best teachers, but there is much in your singing that must be innate. It will be interesting to see how your adult voice turns out. The center of your voice is lower than a true boy soprano, who always turn out baritones or basses. You could wake up and find yourself a tenor! Really a splendid talent.
